Was here several years back and the Pho hasn't changed since then... I will add that my veggie tray was obviously from the fridge so much so that even the lime was so fridge old it barely got any juice out of it... The jalapeño slices were actually browned on the edges from hanging out too long... see photos... The atmosphere was quiet with only a few patrons at 5:30pm... 27 with tip for a bowl of beef bo vien and Chinese sausage rice roll...
Very quite on a Tuesday evening, barely anyone there. Was very spacious but had a old vibe still going on. Ordered a fresh spring roll and their house special pho. Spring rolls were decent, was worried from previous review the sauce was watered down. But it was standard sauce, just like any pho spot. The rice wrapper wasn't too dried out either. The pho was passable. Not much to the broth it was bland but it wasn't like a 72 hr stock. Meatballs were pre-sliced, not something I'm use. They don't do rare flank steak so it was cooked well done and needed some chewing. Had a few slivers of tripe I think. Lots of onion and green onions. The veg that came with it was a bit sad looking. Looked like they were prepared ahead of time and sitting for convenience. Works to satisfy my pho craving but will be exploring other pho spots
Phở Thắng Café is a casual eatery in downtown Cleveland offering Vietnamese cuisine. The main reason to visit this restaurant is due to accommodating hours. Open seven days a week, it really fits well with any schedule. I first found this cafe during Sunday date years. I later visited a few times with family. My latest visit was just a few days ago during downtown wandering on a mundane weekday - Monday. I'll share a summary of my experiences. AMBIANCE: The restaurant is pretty spacious, can well accommodate groups. There are multiple rooms for dining as well as a bar. Decor is what you'd find at any mom and pop Asian establishment - lanterns, wall Asian art, Buddha, and small altars. You can easily locate the restaurant by impressive lions at its doors. The interior is slightly dated but well immerses you into the Asian culture. FOOD: This restaurant is well known for its pho (Vietnamese soup). It well caters to carnivores, vegans, and vegetarians. Multi-page menu offers quite a variety - appetizers, vermicelli stir fry, fried rice dishes, ramen, pho, and combo plates. The menu also features beers in case you want pair it with your meal. All items on the menu have alphanumeric system (and helpful pictures) so you never have to mispronounce any menu items. My first time order a few years ago here was Vegetarian Pho. My vegan date ordered it, and in solidarity I did too. I'm not quite sure if the stock was vegan, but nonetheless he loved it. I didn't love it - too spicy and not filling. I did not see it on the menu during my last visit. Few days ago during my visit my order was the following: A3 Shredded Pork Rind Rolls ($6), P7 House Special Beef Pho ($16), and G3 Jasmine Hot Tea ($2). The rolls were extremely light on the meat to the extent that I dissected them to see if my order was right. They were also very dry even with the provided sauce. Mostly the contents were vermicelli. The pho was also light on the meat and was supposed to have the most meat according to the menu. It was a generous portion but I strongly feel that the quality declined over the last few years. It wasn't bad pho overall, but it lacked richness present at other pho establishments. I didn't love it. The bowl was served with a plate under it that was visibly dirty. Jasmine tea was very pleasant, light but very hot and tasty. I loved the latter. Pho and tea warmed up my soul. SERVICE: The service was super prompt. The food arrived within minutes. While the service was quick, there was really no warmth to it. It felt a little impersonal. PARKING: Street parking tends to be scare in the area but there are plenty of garages around. It's also an easy walk from multiple downtown residences and hotels. Overall, this pho place is a good choice for a casual meal especially when the surrounding restaurants are closed. If you want something tastier, I highly prefer Superior Pho or Number 1 Pho in Asia Town for more rich pho and tasty food choices.
My favorite food place was closed today so in hopes of satisfying my craving I tried this place. I've had another dish by them before and absolutely loved it.. The staff is nice, I usually get a shrimp for at my other place so that's what I got here they definitely give you good size shrimp and the broth with super hot . I gave it three stars because I feel like the broth is what makes the dish and I didn't really like the broth They decided to give me for my pho. I feel like I've had pho here before and thought it was good so maybe there are different broths and I need to specify which one. It was weird, having kind of a beefy tasting broth with shrimp . I'm kind of sad because it didn't really fix my cravings and on top of that you have to pay for parking so I spent more than I normally would have at my other place
The pho was average at best. I'm not sure why they sprinkled pepper in it. It was a good sized portion though. I didn't trust the condiments because the table number was dirty.
Grabbed a quick lunch after a volleyball tournament before driving home. Place was in a convenient location with 2 entrances...one on each side of the building. If you enter from the side the GPS takes you for the address, you have to walk to the back of the building and all the way down a hallway to find it. Service was fast and friendly. The Pho was very good. I'd order that every time. The fried noodles were good, but I'd definitely stick with the pho. Also ordered the spring rolls. They were also good. Crispy. Not greasy. Stuffed full of ingredients, and the dipping sauce was awesome. We'll definitely visit again.
I ordered thru grubhub and my pho was still steaming hot when it was delivered to me. Beautiful, delicious, aromatic broth.
Awesome hole in the wall! Loved the food and service. Glad to have found this place! We'll definitely come back. I love that they offer cold noodle dishes, it's so refreshing on a hot summer day
I'm sorry to say this, but this place has gone downhill I've been ordering carry out and dining in since this place opened, it's across the street from my office and it was amazing Recently, I ordered the grilled pork and rice plate expecting a decent sized pork chop especially for the $15 price and all I got were 2 slivers of pork and the flavor was off Crispy rolls were drenched in oil almost soggy Not sure if I'll be back again
We were in the mood to try something Asian with vegetarian options and this restaurant has a menu section for vegetarians, so we came here. First, you guys need a bigger entrance door!! The small entrance is so easy to miss or to mistake for an employee or back entrance. The restaurant is actually very spacious inside, but you'd hardly figure that out from the outside. Our hotel is close by so we walked. If you need parking, there are parking structures around. They seemed to be short-staffed as the chefs were also helping out with serving at times and it was hard to flag down our specific server, who seemed to be among 3 servers managing about 15 full tables and a bar. We ordered the veggie garden spring rolls, the veggie banh mi, the bun xao ga (rice vermicelli with chicken), the goi ga (chicken and cabbage salad), the mi goi xao dac biet (house special ramen egg noodles with shrimp, chicken and pork) and the honeydew and green tea boba teas. Everything was pretty mild with regards to spice level. My parents enjoyed the garden rolls and the veggie banh mi. Just a FYI: the veggie ham tastes nothing like real ham, but the sandwich itself was a banh mi. It is a pretty small size so one person can definitely eat the whole thing. The bun xao ga was nice but not exactly the spicy dish I was promised. The chicken in it was a little chewy. I asked for their homemade chili oil and had to douse my dish in about 30% of the contents to get the spice I was looking for. I didn't get it fully but it definitely tasted a little spicier. This is a great dish if you want mild flavors. My brother inhaled the goi ga. He liked it and appreciated that there were lots of veggies to balance the chicken. His ramen was also very good with the exception of spice. He doused his ramen in siracha sauce to get the kick he wanted. I loved the boba teas. The boba was soft and easily melted in the mouth when you bit into it. The honeydew was quite sweet and the green tea had a bit of an earthy taste, which was exactly what we were going for. Price wise, we paid about $80 for the whole meal, which I think is quite reasonable for downtown Cleveland. All in all, this was a good experience but I'd really like them to kick the spice level up when we ask for it....and that entrance....please figure out a way to get a more visible entrance!
Decided to dine here due to its proximity to the Hampton Inn, the spring rolls weren't fresh as the rice paper was dried out, and the sauces were watery with little flavor. Ordering meals from their menu was challenging because you had to flip through the menu to match meal numbers with plate numbers. Our meals, two noodle dishes and one Pho dish, lacked flavor and were bland. We didn't try the sauces provided, as they appeared dirty. Service was just as bad waitress asked for the order then had to go back and get paper to write it all down (again menu was confusing) no water refills were offered. Ambiance was just as bad.
I had a little hard time finding it because the door is small with limited signage (or I could have come in through the wrong door). The door opens into a gigantic space with circle bar seating in the middle and plenty of tables. I loved the sparkly orange counter of the bar. Service was fast and my water was always kept full. I ordered the pork & egg roll vermicelli bowl and added a fried egg. It was perfect. The ingredients were fresh, crisp, and perfectly cooked. The egg yolk was even like a jammy velvet. I'd come here every week if I lived here. The best part--homemade chilli oil!!!! It was so good. I kept spooning more on because the flavor was so delicious, but I finally had to put the lid back on before my nose started running uncontrollably. Perfection.
Vietnamese restaurant attached to Hampton Inn, the entrance is around the corner of the hotel. GPS might route you to the main entrance and you'll see a sign but you'll have to walk towards the hotel entrance. Although it's ground floor, the inside feels like a basement and the decor is basic and outdated. The service was good, everyone was friendly and quick. The food was good, we all got pho and some spring rolls. Spring rolls were nice and crispy and well stuffed. The noodles were basic and didn't have different sized bowls, but instead you can add noodles. Broth was ok. I would give service a 4, ambiance a 2, and food a 3.5.
The entrance is a little hard to find because it's located inside a large downtown building, but it's worth finding! I got the combo 1 ($16) with beef pho, a spring roll, and a can of Coke. The pho came in a large bowl. The portions of broth, noodles, and slices of beef were generous. The broth came out hot, and was rich and flavorful. I only wish the pho came with slightly less onions and the beef came out rare. But the beef was plentiful and wasn't tough. The spring roll was also tasty. It came out hot and crispy. The service was a tad slow but decent overall. Got refills on our glasses of water, and the staff was friendly. read more

I visited on a work trip because I was tired of convention food and I was craving Vietnamese food (as always). The place is conveniently located in downtown and I was able to walk from my hotel. Summer in Ohio is pleasant, but the restaurant did not have AC inside - oof! The food (specifically the beef broth and the pickled vegetables) was sweeter than I am used to. I loved the bread and the flavor of the grilled pork, though. Overall, I would say give this place a visit if you don't have a car and you want Asian food in downtown! read more
Stopped by for lunch around noon on a Sunday. The restaurant itself is a little dingy, with a few dead flies here and there, but that tends to be par for the course for good Asian restaurants. I saw that they had a combination special so I opted for the one with a banh mi and spring roll. The spring roll was just okay, but I really enjoyed the banh mi! I opted for the grilled pork. The pork was delicious, tender and well seasoned. I loved the pickled carrots and daikon on top, and the bread was crunchy without being dense (which is the one thing I don't love about some banh mis). The special came with an iced tea as well. Service was fine, the waiter was attentive and available when I needed him to be. Thankfully the store wasn't too busy when I dined so I was in and out in around half an hour. read more

Working downtown again. Visited Pho Thang with a coworker for lunch because I recall the food being good. We were promptly greeted and seated. On this visit, I requested one of my favorites - vegetable fried rice along with some fresh garden rolls. A short time passed and our meals were delivered. They were hot and looked amazing. The fresh garden rolls were tasty. They were sticky and yummy, but they did not have any shrimp in them. Next time, I'll order the shrimp variety. The peanut sauce didn't have a bold flavor. My veggie fried rice was amazing. Loved it! The only issue I have is no refills were provided. In fact, I don't think I've ever received a refill here, which means I need to make sure I get the server's attention on future visits. Great food! read more

It was different than last visit. Soup was so dark, spring roll was not the same..... somehow there is no Vietnamese there.. Indian ladies were serving food. Time ro fund a new location for me. read more
The pho here is not pho-nominal. The dining room is a health inspector's classroom in obvious filth, run by a few early twenty somethings who are polite but could give two cents about service. Sitting next to the Federal Reserve, with 30 empty tables, maybe they're building a tunnel, or something. Surely it can't be the food. Broth is fresh. Veggies too. Noodles are overcooked and gooey. Shrimp is questionable. Everything lacks flavor. More Cantonese than Vietnamese. The dead bugs on the windowsill suggest a lack of care for cleanliness. Service is sparse but polite. Not quite at Restaurant Impossible, but clearly on its way there. Robert Irvine look out! read more
Great place for a work day lunch. Fast and big portions. My bf and I only ate half our dishes and are looking forward to eating our leftovers. Prices are bit high but not bad considering 2 meals is really 4 by portion size. Staff is kind and prompt! read more

The service was 3 out of 5, it wasn't bad, but it could be better. The food was really good!!! The spring rolls were delicious. The shrimp fried rice was my second favorite! Then the Pho was fine. The broth itself is very good and the noodles. However, the beef isn't of a great quality. One thing I did noticed was that my silverware was dirty so I had them change it. But overall the food is really good. read more

I am in town for work and wanted to stop by for a quick bite that end up taking back to the hotel room. I love Vietnamese food so was super excited to try this place. I ordered the bah mi with the garden roll combo which was 14 bucks. The price honestly seem pretty high given what I've paid in the past, but was super optimistic that it was gonna be worth it. When I saw the sandwich, I was pretty shocked at how small it was but again was trying to keep a positive attitude about it. To start, the sandwich barely had any meat in it as you can see from the picture. It was just toppings. I will give them credit that the bread was nice and crispy which I really appreciated. As far as the spring roll, I think that rice paper they used to roll it could've soaked a little bit longer because it was hard to eat. Even more so one of my favorite parts of the spring is the peanut sauce it comes with. I'm pretty sure that they water there's down because I've never seen one that was runny like this. I'm used to it being thick and creamy. Overall for the price, the quality, and the portion size was very unsatisfied. read more

During my recent visit to Cleveland, My friend and I found this Authentic Vietnamese restaurant. This lovely restaurant is located in Downtown, Cleveland. The venue is very modest, clean and welcoming. The menu has a lot of choices and the food is just wonderful, I ordered the fresh garden roll and the chicken soup, both dishes were fantastic. The soup had lots of rich flavor, it's the best soup I have had in a very long time. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the portions were generous. A very unique experience in Cleveland !!! read more
I have been here twice, and the lady who takes all the orders is the most hard-working sweetest person out there! She also speaks mandarin. It is extremely well priced. I highly recommend getting the combination meals, which come with a choice of a spring or garden roll and a soft drink or tea for only $2 more of your pho of choice! I also LOVE the banh mi ($10) and always get it for takeout. Great quality for an even better price. read more
On our way home on a recent blustery Sunday night and my wife was really jonesing for Pho. We've tried a decent number of spots all around Cleveland so we decided to give this new (to us) downtown place a try. They were within an hour of closing time, but graciously allowed us to dine in. The servers were very pleasant and quickly took our orders...bowls of Pho with a side and a drink. The combination dinner of pho tai nam (eye round steak and well-done brisket) and a crispy spring roll was fantastic...maybe the best in Cleveland! The spring roll was perfectly hot and crispy, filled with ground pork and veggie and then served with a sweet and sour sauce dipping sauce. The large steaming both of pho had a very savory broth (light on cinnamon, which I liked) and was filled with vermicelli glass noodles and a standard side plate of bean sprouts, jalapeno slices, lime wedge and basil leaves. The meal was sooo satisfying, we will most certainly be back! read more

Ordered the Bun Bo Hue for takeout, got home went to transfer my soup to heat it up after it wasn't as hot and discovered this small hair strand! Turned me off from the whole bowl cause there's probably more hair in the soup! If you work in a kitchen you should be wearing a hair net! Bodily hair should be shaved, there should not be hair in people's food! read more
Was excited to try pho for the first time. Felt authentic inside, I sat at the bar. Menu was a little difficult to read but the workers helped me a lil. Got the chicken pho with white rice. Can't go wrong with white rice, but soup on the other hand. The chicken was tough, but the broth and veggies were great, especially with siracha in it, the noodles were tasty aswell, and it was fun attempting to use chopsticks to pick them up. That was, until I found a fly in my soup halfway through. Tried not to loose my appetite cause it was so good and hey what's a little fly but I was cool after that. Hit or miss with fly but had an enjoyable experience anyway. read more
I took my mom to Pho Thang Cafe to get some vermicelli noodles and banh mi! The restaurant itself is very spacious and we went during an off time so there wasn't much people dining in. That being said, the food was really good! The grilled pork vermicelli noodle dish tasted so fresh from the vegetables! The banh mi was very of too, and portions were a good size to where we just split the meal and felt full after. Knocked off a star because the parking/location isn't the greatest. We had to go around the block twice to find parking and ended up parking the garage. read more
