    Rare Beef Pho
    Aaron Z.

This is a solid entry. The place is fresh and new with a modern ambiance. It's a physically wide restaurant, so lots of bright light and street views. The server was prompt and on it; no complaints there! Chicken Wings: I've been on a chicken wing kick and these are just ok. The outside had a nice crunch, but was also a little powdery on the tongue, if you know what I mean. At $12 for six, I probably wouldn't get this again. Braised Beef Stew Noodle Soup: This was a good, hearty soup! Springy noodles, flavorful broth, and a lot of fatty beef. Rare Beef Pho: Pretty good clear broth with a nice flavor. All in all a decent pho if you're in the neighborhood.

Thought this pho joint might be "gimmicky", but turned out to be pretty good. Came here on a Wednesday night around 8pm and the place was packed. Ample tables and chairs inside to accomodate, I saw a table of 10 people during my visit. Their menu offers plenty of options. They specialize in crispy rolls, and they were pretty tasty, not too greasy. I opted for my usual at every pho restaurant, which is the regular beef pho noodle soup. Lots of ingredients with TONS of noodles. The soup base didn't leave me thirsty afterwards, yay. Prices are competitive for the area as most pho restaurants are charging $16+ per bowl. Parking is definitely tricky in this area, probably best to walk, bike, bus, rideshare, or BART. I'd come back again in the near future. #5/2026

Found this newer spot in the Mission. Found street parking nearby. Nice and clean and bright inside. Friendly servers and staff greeted us. I ordered the Special Combo pho. My coworkers got a banh mi and a rice plate. Prices were decent. Pho came out and looked great. Nice amount of beef and noodles. Broth was rich and hearty. Beef brisket was tasty. Good spot for Vietnamese food in the area.

I'll get right to it: get their CHICKEN PHO. They should rename their shop to Chicken Pho Star because they do it well here. Probably the best chicken pho, and possibly chicken noodle soip I've had in SF. Super sweet and fast service, I'd 100% come again because I work nearby. ^ but I haven't had that many here, but whatever the other chicken pho places lacked -- this place hit it out of the park. Think Hainenese Chicken in a DEEP, FLAVORFUL chicken broth. I would not recommend their beef broth. We ordered it too and I tried to fix it but it just didn't have that southern pho essence, or any Vietnam essence. We also tried their jasmine milk tea and thought it was great!

First time here. This used to be a sushi restaurant I wasn't interested in, but I came in today. Ordered the steak Pho and the vegetarian spring rolls Spring rolls 10 out of 10 they put some amazing mushrooms in them. They were served piping hot and I appreciated the sauce. They came with. It wasn't your average tasting sweet and sour sauce it actually had de. Steak pho 9 out of 10 for no other reason than the noodles they were good but not great. The bra is 10 out of 10 steak is delicious. Staff is also a 10 out of 10 super attentive and write on it. I will definitely be back.

I actually came here to have an iced coconut coffee . I ended up also getting a bowl of pho as well because the restaurant smelled so good when I went inside. The broth had really good flavor and the noodles and meat definitely satisfied. People were coming in and out. Having food and leaving right after. Had a nice amount of people inside. The staff were cleaning their vegetables and what not while I set there and ate my food. The tables were clean and had siracha, chili oil and hoisin available on them.

Went to Pho Star this past weekend and thought it was a pretty solid spot for Vietnamese food. Pho was really great and they are very generous with the fatty brisket which I really appreciate. Soup was super rich and addicting. We also got the grilled steak and garlic noodles, which I thought were a little bland for my personal taste but still really good overall. Located right in the mission district as well, so plenty of fun activities and parks to frolic around in afterwards!

    13. Bun Bo Hue Soup

Pho Star is a good place if you're looking for comfy Vietnamese food! It's already very busy despite opening just recently. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (4/5) and thought that the portion size was great! Well-priced and comes with lots of meat. I do think it's more of a unique take on the Bun Bo Hue, with the broth being a bit sweeter and not as spicy as what I'm used to. I also do wish it came with some fresh lettuce. I thought that the service was attentive, quick, and friendly. I would definitely come back to try some different items, but this was a pretty good start!

It's an ok Vietnamese place. There's so many good Asian restaurants in SF that I feel one needs to take it up a notch to stand out. With that in mind, it's ok, tasty but not mind blowing that you would wanna go back. Chicken wings appetizer was crispy but needed a special dip sauce to make it strong. Again, it was ok. I had the beef noddle soup - vermicelli was a bit over cooked but broth was good. Service is nice. Ambience is nice - at least no TV distracting you from your food.

Very solid place for pho in the city! The chicken pho is my favorite. I like that they have a ginger scallion dipping sauce to pair with it - you don't see this too often. The beef pho is alright, a little on the sweet side.

Came here randomly for dinner. The service is friendly and fast with seating available promptly. The ambiance is bright inside with clean interior. Parking is expected to be hard to find on the street. The five spice chicken was good as well as the soup. Would recommend trying for Vietnamese.

We were a large group of 15, including several kids, and we completely understand that the restaurant is small and accommodating a group our size can be challenging. We waited in line for almost an hour with around 6 children. During the wait, a staff member named Sue came outside, asked how many people were in our group, and handed us menus. Since it was our first visit, we were naturally asking questions and trying to understand the menu. Unfortunately, throughout the interaction, her body language and expressions felt impatient and unwelcoming. There was visible frustration and eye-rolling, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Even after we were seated, the experience continued to feel tense. One of the toddlers in our group started crying briefly -- something fairly common with young children -- and we were told to "keep it low out of respect." While we absolutely respect other diners, the way it was communicated felt lacking in empathy, especially on a busy Mother's Day with families dining out. A small gesture of kindness or understanding could have gone a long way. Instead, my friend felt compelled to take the child outside, which was disappointing. Additionally, after being seated, we had to remind the staff multiple times to come take our orders. What makes this especially unfortunate is that the ramen itself was truly delicious and lived up to the hype. The food was excellent, which is why this experience was so disappointing overall. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customer service and hospitality matter just as much as the food experience. Unfortunately, this was not the ideal way to end our Mother's Day celebration.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles..
