It was conveniently located next to 99 Ranch so we gave this pho place a try. Service was quick. I ordered the pho dac diet and I was pretty satisfied. My son ordered the fried rice yang chow and the portion was nice but he said he preferred my pho noodles! I like how there's ample parking and it didn't feel stressful to find a spot. However, the restroom may need a bit more attention, at least for the women's. However, most people don't go to a pho restaurant to go to the restroom! read more

The parking lot is big, but this is a busy center, so parking can be difficult. Walking in, it was busy! I saw 2-3 tables open and I was told to choose any open table. They had music on. I sat down and a few minutes later a server came over with some menus. Wowow! I will come back and order their pork spring roll. It is such a good price for three! During our recent holiday trip to Los Angeles, it often rained, and the daytime temperatures hovered in the mid 50°F to low 60°F. The colder temperatures and wet weather made our hot noodle soup-loving appetites roar, but we were wary about driving further than within a 10-mile radius. My brother-in-law mentioned he wanted to do some marketing at Costco - Van Nuys, and we soon found ourselves at the Signature Plaza on Sepulveda Boulevard. Both my husband and brother-in-law were leaning towards Sam Woo BBQ, but I balked because we had just eaten Chinese food two days before. Although my brother-in-law resides in Los Angeles, he hadn't tried this local Vietnamese chain before, so they gave in to my "whining." The bright and open restaurant wasn't crowded when we entered, so we were seated with menus immediately. Within a few minutes, a server came by to take our order, but since this was our first visit, we needed more time to review the menu. We liked the well-organized menu and helpful colorful pictures. Also, we appreciated the warmer indoor temperatures because we had gotten soaked by the downpour going on outside. FOOD: -Chả Giò: Fried egg rolls filled with ground pork and served with lettuce, cucumber, mint leaves, and fish sauce. The exterior wrappers were crisp, bubbly, and chewy since they used rice paper and not wheat-based wrappers. These rolls were served hot from the kitchen, and we had to wait a few seconds to allow them to cool before chomping into them. $10.60 -Đặc Biệt Xe Lửa (trans: "train-size" or code for a massive bowl of connoisseurs' luxe combination): My brother-in-law and I chose this menu item since we couldn't decide on phở toppings. Phở Số 1's bowl contained a unique combination of rare steak, well-done flank steak, fatty brisket, soft tendon, and tripe. This massive bowl of steaming hot, flavorful broth with chewy and slurpable linguine-shaped rice noodles topped various beef cuts, warmed our bodies, and comforted our appetites. The portion size for its price was well worth it since I compared it to what we'd get in my hometown. $13.75 -Cơm Bì Chả Sườn: My porkaholic husband selected this rice plate as we recognized it as "a celebration of pork." The platter featured a warm bed of rice accented with a thin slice of grilled pork chop marinated in fish sauce and sugar, a wedge of steamed pork-egg meatloaf, and thinly shredded pork skin (rind). My husband was a bit disappointed that the pork chop was so thin that it was dry even though it had good flavor. The steamed pork-egg meatloaf was served at room temperature and had its characteristic medium-firm spongy texture. Another disappointment with this dish that my husband voiced was the dry and hard texture of the rice. $14.25 As we continued eating our lunches, the restaurant filled, and a short line of other hungry customers formed. Pho Sol 1 is hands-down my favorite pho place of all time. I've tried so many dishes here--the rice plates, vermicelli bowls, and of course, the pho--and every single thing has been incredible. I haven't had a single bad meal yet! The broth is rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I even brought my picky Vietnamese friend here, and she loved it too--and she *hates* everything! The portions were reasonable but OH I wish we would have gotten a larger order of the #97 egg rolls which were so amazing! Great portions, very quick with food, good food and reasonable pricing. Does get busy quick and once they take your order that's about how far the service goes. They do have everything you need at the tables which is convenient. I don't like how the open spoons are there for anyone to cough on or infect in a way, I did grab one that had a hair on it. I wish this place was closer to me!!!! Honestly such a classic spot to go to. Service is super quick and efficient. Once you are able to get a seat, your order is taken within 5 minutes and your food comes out less than 10 minutes after. I've only gone on weekends and definitely have had to wait, especially on a Saturday night. But they run a very efficient operation so the wait is never too long. Pho So 1 has the best pho broth ever!!!! None of the pho spots in LA come close. The egg rolls are also super tasty. I wouldn't say the ambiance is amazing or anything but this place is well worth trying! read more

I can't believe this place has such high ratings. We ordered the pho and eggrolls. The eggrolls were soaked in oil and tasted old. Must have been old oil that has not been changed or fried once too many times to warm it up. Back to Pho 21 for my viet food in the valley. read more

The food here is ALWAYS CONSISTENT AND GOOD!! Service is quick. Someone is at your table seconds after you sit down. The atmosphere is conducive eating and chatting then leaving...around lunchtime it can get pretty busy. I hadn't gone in over a year and was pleasantly surprised at the renovations done. May favorite pho place in SoCal. They have a few locations and they're all consistently good. I feel the stir fry dishes leave a little bit to be desired, but we go for the pho and the egg rolls and spring rolls. Highly recommend the egg rolls. They're sooo good! Pho So 1 is definitely my go to Pho restaurant in LA. After trying many pho shops in LA, I gotta say that this restaurant has s the most authentic flavor in their food. The pho broth is very aromatic and tasty. The bbqed pork over a rice is soooo good. Their porridge is great as well. The food comes out very quickly and the service is very efficient and friendly. When I want pho I think about pho so 1 it's so flavorful and yummy. Staff is a little short with you but they can also be very helpful when you have a questions, they're busy so they're getting those orders out and keeping tables open for more customers. This is the only dish that's served in a big ceramic bowl, and not a to-go container. It also comes with a proper Ramen soup spoon. This is a meal on it's own. Filled with broth, noodles, chunks of tender, but fatty beef, daikon radishes and bok choy. The dish is good for the price, but the broth was a bit underwhelming for my taste. I even drove a bit out of my way to come here, only to find a "closed" sign on the door. I truly hope everything is okay with the owners and staff, but it was disappointing that there wasn't any notice or backup plan for unexpected closures. Lots of wait staff are milling about, busy taking orders, delivering dishes to diners, and turning tables for the next set of guests waiting their turn. I got off a 7-day trip from Seattle and was craving roasted duck. I thought I was going to just grab-n-go on this trip but decided to grab lunch with the fam. We kept it simple with 3 main dishes. The watercress stirfried with garlic is always a staple at every Chinese restaurant meal. Their porkchops here was neither greasy or salty. It had the right amount of seasoning and crunch. Also got the beef chowfun. When ordering, the waiter will always ask whether you want dry or with gravy. I almost always prefer the dry variation. There was plenty food for 3 people and still had leftovers to take home. Not pictured here is the whole roasted duck I purchased or the glistening array of duck and other barbecued meats they sell for to go.

Service is always very friendly (sometimes a hair slow but only because there's usually only one server and the place is packed). Food comes out fairly quickly once you order and it's super fun to be able to watch them cook due to the giant glass wall in the kitchen. Place is always clean, has great lighting (you can actually see your plates), and the lot in back makes for fairly easy parking.
