I love Ace Gogi. Love love love Ace Gogi. My little brother and I go here weekly for lunch. Our go-to location is the Van Nuys one. It's not as nice as the Fallbrook location, but we like how lively and active it is. There's always energy in there. The Fallbrook spot is really nice though--better ambience, more spacious, and just a cleaner feel overall. We just haven't caught it when it's busy yet. That one feels more chill and laid back, which is nice when you want a slower vibe. So honestly, best of both worlds depending on the mood. Our go-to order is the spicy bulgogi with white rice and the pepper beef. We've tried a lot of the menu too--spicy baby octopus, cow tongue, a bunch of different items--but we always end up going back to what we know. It's one of those spots where we just sit there, eat, talk, and keep going until we're full. Shoutout Ace Gogi for the vibes and the food. I'm sure you can get higher quality cuts elsewhere, but that would probably come with a higher price. For what it is, we're always satisfied. read more

Many have shared AYCE Gogi with me, and I was very disappointed on my visit. Parking was fairly easy in this big parking lot, and queueing up on the waitlist was pretty straightforward. At the time, they had some rewards going on, but I preferred to be unsubscribed. My friend and I were sat within 30 minutes, and we enjoyed much of the meats here. Service was pretty slow; if you want to order, you'll really need to reach out to a staff member, jumping around and all. The one thing that stood out to me other than eating here was my consistent comments on smells, and not in a good way. For starters, ventilation here is very poor. On top of that, I'm not sure what it was at the time of visit, but there was a strong scent of paint or chemicals which made the entire dining experience unbearable. I still got my money's worth the best that I could, but the moment I got home, I immediately got sick for a week, and it was not from eating too much. Something about that chemical smell... Ayce gogi has to has the best quality meat I've had at any kbbq place. They're all so flavorful and don't have that heavy meat taste that all other place have. You actually see the chunks of meat or chicken and not just a bunch of fats and oils marinated. Service is normally good but I like to sit in the front because I find that they tend to check in on your less often when you're in the back of the restaurant. Super cool place that keeps you or the kids busy while waiting with their pinball machines. All meats are great but my favorites are the spicy chicken, spicy bulgogi, black pepper beef. Ohhhh yeahh.... This was an absolute treat. All-you-can-eat here is a good deal if you're serious... like me. The meat quality is great, especially for AYCE. There are a ton of great side dishes part of the AYCE menu, and I opted for the steamed egg and tofu stew-- so happy with my choices! All of the side dishes were great too, I loved the kimchi here, you can tell it actually fermented well by the punchy flavor. The service great, they bring out the food quick, which is exactly what you want for a timed AYCE deal. Definitely expect to leave smelling very strongly of smoke, but also very, very full. This place is mid at best! Our grill kept burning all our food! I understand we're in charge of cooking our own food but it would burn so quick... They had to change the grill at least 5 times in less than 40 mins we were here. And they even turned it down. One side was cold and the other side charred everything to a crisp. After visiting my brother at the cemetery for his 5 years death anniversary, we all decided to have lunch together. The wait was about 30 mins on a Sunday afternoon around 12pm for a party for 15. Juan the host was amazing. He was very attentive, kind and great at multitasking. Our server was amazing too. I just can't remember his name though. He was very attentive, quick on his feet, had good memory and polite. My annoying nephew wasn't hungry until we were all about to leave. We all thought we were done until my nephew ordered 2 beef belly, pork belly, steam egg, rice and etc. The waiter bought it out with a smile on his face. He didn't even judge him. I absolutely love this place. I've been coming here for years & it's definitely my go to Korean spot. The sides are SO good! It's easy to get carried away in sides lol Usually get the brisket, bulgogi, pork belly, peppered steak & it never misses. We always ask for onions & jalapeños + salt & pepper which makes the food have so much more flavor! The bacon fried rice is too tier. Service is typically good but can be hard to grab attention of our server when it's busy. It's a nice spot with pin ball machines in the waiting area & in a back room. I always get their japchae, and they have a pretty wide selection of meats! I had the most amazing first impression of Korean barbecue here at AYCE gogi!!! Yes, it was my very first time having kbbq this past week! It was perfect for a girl like me who was just craving all types of meat. My absolute favorite was the garlic steak!!! If you're a garlic lover you'll looove this! And if you don't really fw garlic, you'd hate this! The gyozas were sooo good and so was their chicken fried rice!!! I recommend heavily. It's an unfortunate day, when I'm forced to report something less than savory with my experience here. My partner and I were eating and much to her dismay, a waiter spilled a great deal of raw beef juice on her, and rather than offer to help, was very nonchalant about it. He returned with only a handful of napkins which obviously wasn't nearly enough to clean her dress and when we asked another waiter for help, rather than help she asked us "Does it bother you?" Foodborne illness risk aside, I'm genuinely appalled at the lack of customer service and couresty that took place here. Upon speaking to the manager, it was as if he was taking a Herculean effort to give us a satisfactory outcome to us dining here. I absolutely respect that people have their off days, and I can even understand if they didn't fully understand the severity of what occured (even if we explained it 2 to 3 times!) But it's unacceptable to be treated like we're asking for too much when a general expectation that one is able to dine without having large quantities of beef juice spilled on them. Really solid place, one of the best KBBQ places I've been to. Our party really liked the banchan at the beginning. We got a great booth that was comfy and felt separate from other parties (we were in the corner) so private in comparison to most other kbbq places, and the waitresses were very attentive in changing out our cooking trays. Service was great and food was tasty. Sauces that came as the side were very good. Beef tongue 7/10 - have had better, I feel like this wasn't the highest quality beef tongue I've had. But still beef tongue Brisket 10/10 - Absolutely delicious. Best brisket I've had at KBBQ. Not too fatty, perfectly tender, super thin sliced, must get! Kalbi 6/10 (for me) - Too fatty in my opinion, with chewy fat pieces even when done crispy. But also a 8.5/10 Most of our group loved it, was a lot of people's favorites. Octopus 3/10 - Most of us didn't like it, I found it too chewy and fishy, one of our group loved it though. Pork Belly 3/10 - Wayyyy too fatty Beef gyoza 8.5/10 - Fried very well and super tasty with the sauce that comes with the all you can eat (the one they come with is meh) Spicy Garlic Noodles 4/10 - Really not that great, what it sounds like though. Servers initiated frequent grill changes without us needed to hound them down. However, meat quality or taste does match the price range and nothing stood out a lot. Beef tongue for instance was quite chewy and shrimp flavor tasted okay. Best items were short rib and steamed egg. Japchea is an honorable mention. They served it in a bowl and it looked a bit watery, but don't be afraid, it was very flavorful and fresh. We tried this K-BBQ one weekend and it was okay. I can't say that this is the best I've had, but it is pretty decent for the area. They have a vast menu of items, but feel they lack a bit of taste. I feel for the price, I can get better quality at other places. The service was fairly quick and employees were very friendly and attentive, despite the many tables and customers. Even during mid week, this place gets pretty busy. Menu wise does offer a lot of meat to choose from. Compared to others, it still has a good selection for the price. Meat wise, everything we always get, has always been fresh. Portion wise seems to varies depending on how many is in your party. Seems like it. You get four selection each time and it doesn't take long for it to come out. The side dishes, a good amount of items on the menu. As well as the soup and ramen section. They do have alcohol as well. Grills are changed constantly which is good as the grease does coat it pretty fast and it will get smokey. Side dishes are great and of course, bottomless. AYCE Gogi in Van Nuys is an absolute deal at $31 until 3pm for lunch. Caveat is that obviously it's not a prime dinIng experience. It's the case of more is better; more quantity than quality in terms of ingredients & food preparation. The service here is friendly & competent. The lady receptionist, who initially waited on us because the other servers were so busy, was especially kind & efficient at 3pm on Sat. Aug. 17 although our male server was also welcoming. 1) Presentation of 5 Banchan/hors d'oeuvres: a) Tasty blanched green spinach dressed in toasty, nutty sesame seed oil, touch of garlic, salt. b) Strangely refreshing, funky cilantro greens, onion, tomato rested in light oil dressing. c) Bland parboiled broccoli, pulverized Tōfu, grated carrots. d) Pasty, mash potato mayonnaise salad bits of red cabbage & carrot only for color. e) Small rotelle/spiral tricolore pasta dressed solely with mayo. 2) Upon request: a) Flexible, pliable, moist rice paper squares to make a "sandwich" for meat & veggies. b) Ultra thin, sweet vinegar touched Daikon radish to wrap meats & veggies. c) Sliced sweet onions with a mild crunch to enhance heavy meat flavours. d) Won Bok/nappa cabbage pickled with garlic, mild, bright red chile powder. e) Shredded cabbage salad in vague perhaps Miso dressing. f) Corn cheese, Jalapeño also available 3) Meats: a) Bul Gogi: Thin sliced beef marinated in extremely overly sweet soy sauce marinade that totally infused into the meat. b) Bul Gal Bi: Thicker short rib meat that couldn't absorb the extremely sweet marinade was the way to go. c) Attenuated lemon pepper salt was sprinkled over chicken pieces and the soy sauce marinade kept the meat soft & moist. d) Daeji Gogi: Thin sliced pork marinated in thick, viscous Gochujang made of slightly fermented red chiles, rice, soy bean, vinegar, sugar was sweet-sour. However, meat was over marinated so the meat was mushy at the same time grainy. e) Pork Belly: Two 3/8" thick with fat & meaty areas. There was no marinade to pep up the flavours so used the salty Kim Chi juice to baste while the meat cooked over the grill. f) Tongue looked red & meaty, but again no marinade so sprinkling salt became the only alternative. g) Garlic shrimp: I think the kitchen forgot to add in puréed garlic so basically tasteless. h) Cajun ShrImp: Sprinkled with Cajun Crawfish boil spice mix that was so old that all the aromatics were long gone. 4) Side Orders: a) Fried Shumai: Dumplings surrounded by wheat wrapper. Inside is a sweet, plush fish paste. b) Chap Chae: Chewy, translucent pasta made from low calorie Kon'yaku root sautéed with bit of sesame oil, carrot, spinach, cucumber, soy sauce, sugar, sprinkled with white sesame seeds. 5) Complementary Frozen Yogurt with a light lemon taste with a pleasant, fermented dairy tastes like Yakult Probiotic yogurt drink. Understandably, at this price point, all the meats are third tier & frozen for god knows how long. I don't think AYCE Gogi would be very competative in the heart of Korea town where standards are higher. Banchans were meh (not too flavorful). When they first came out, my husband was like, "no kimchi?!"...then I read on the menu that you have to ask for kimchi. We also ordered rice and japchae. Japchae was maybe a 3.5/5. Not too flavorful. I also noticed that they had rice paper and radish wraps if you ask for them!!!! We didn't know this until halfway through our meal. It was pretty crowded, but I also don't think there are many kbbq spots in the area. There are a bunch of arcade games in the front of the restaurant too which is kind of cool. We usually go to Gen when we're visiting my inlaws in the area but after the last couple of experiences I was not impressed and was glad to find this spot to try instead. It by far exceeded my expectations. Even though I had stopped eating meat, I still had an enjoyable experience. They offer a large amount of appetizers/side items including the staple steamed egg, various fried rice, and various Korean soups. The streamed egg was on point along with the tofu soup. Our table of six finished three steamed eggs.The shrimp fried rice and Jap chae was also very good. Service was fantastic and they were very good about changing our grills before we could even ask. This place gets really busy though so we went around 5:30 on a Saturday to beat them weekend dinner rush. We were seated right away but it did take a while to get waters and our order placed. Once we did order the food kept coming. The kalbi and bulgogi are both very flavorful. The shrimp is the de-shelled which is always a plus and the calamari was already cut in strips. For our sides, we got the steam egg which was a bit overcooked, spicy garlic noodles which were really tasty, tofu soup, which had a good kick, japchae was delicious although they forgot about this order and I had to remind them and lastly the kimchi fried rice. They also have some premium sides which you could order at an additional cost. Their menu is pretty extensive with lots of protein choices, and lots of delicious sides. They have pinball games in the front, which can keep you busy if you do have to wait on a table. I forgot how awesome this place is. I came here recently to meet up with my UCLA girlfriends from college and it really hit the spot. I was taken away how their all you can eat menu items accommodate for all particular type of eater. Even for me who tries to eat more pescatarian (seafood) they had options for spicy octopus and shrimp.
