No one ever talks about this place. I think because it's so nestled away in the "hood" I went 10 years ago and i thought it was pretty good. Went the other day and yes, it's still pretty good! This does not even deserve a star, but I can't post my review without selecting one. I have never had to post a negative review anywhere! This experience was very upsetting abs can only image how this woman treated other customers that couldn't speak up for themselves. I had a very disappointing experience with both the food and the customer service at this restaurant not from the staff, but from the medium weight Vietnamese lady that claim she was in charged. I placed an order on Monday, April 27 around 5:36 PM. When I got home and tried the food, it tasted spoiled. I attempted to call the restaurant, but they were closed the next day and also closed the following day. As soon as I was able, I went back to the restaurant with the food--95% most of it untouched--to explain the issue and request an exchange (not even a refund). Unfortunately, the situation only got worse. The woman in charge refused to give me her name, became rude, and started raising her voice. When I calmly explained that I came back as soon as I could given their hours, she continued yelling and complaining loudly in the back. Her behavior was unprofessional and uncomfortable, especially in front of other customers. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable accepting any replacement food due to how the situation was handled. I asked to speak with her again to address her behavior, but she refused to come out and said she was "busy." When I in later called to get her name for this review, they refused to provide it, and I was spoken to in a threatening manner. I should have contact the police. I used to come here often and have spent a significant amount of money dining with my family. However, after this experience, I will not be returning. This is a no-frills Vietnamese restaurant with the variety of menu options but the main staple being pho. You can get many different beef toppings in a small, large, or extra large bowl. They even offer chicken pho. The broth comes out piping hot and bursting with flavor! I didn't have to use hoisin or sriracha sauce in my bowl, although I do like to use them as a dip for my meats. If you're not feeling soupy, they do offer rice and vermicelli with grilled meat entrees too. I didn't see a whole lot of options for vegetarians though. The Vietnamese iced coffee barely filled the cup and the flavor was a bit lacking. I do recommend the coconut drink though! The service was ok as I don't really expect much from casual Vietnamese restaurants, to be honest. When we entered, a server asked how many from across the restaurant and pointed to a table, in which I sat in a ripped booth chair. He dropped off menus at the table, and come back shortly after to take our order. No one stopped by to see if we needed anything or how we were doing but it was fine. This place feels like Spirit Airline. It charges for everything like Hành dấm and extra sriracha. And their food presentation is so bad. Ordered egg roll, it came out on the plate with shredded cabbage. No lettuce or pickle to wrap it with. The service is not great either, the only time the staff speak with me was when they asked for my order. They don't say a word when bring out the food, when they delivered the food they just left it on the corner of the table instead of putting it in front of you and then left. When asked for the bill, didn't say anything again when he left the bill on table and left. You have a choice to get small, large and extra-large. For average eaters, small is the best choice. The meats were cooked well and the noodles were perfectly made. I went to the Yelp Elite event a Pollo Campero this year and never even realized that this gem of a Vietnamese Pho restaurant was right next door! Since discovering Pho Ngoc Hung we have been back at least 4 or 5 times and each time the pho has been excellent and very consistent. The broth was very good quality, savory, and the To Tai (I like rare steak) was sliced thin and delicious. I would not rank it above Pho 75 (the one in Rosslyn), but it is darn close. In fact, I might actually prefer Pho Ngoc Hung because they server beer. I was able to order a tall can of Saporro, which made my pho taste even better. We did try the summer rolls, as recommended by the Yelp reviews here, and although the ingredient were very fresh, and the portion was much larger than expected, I would say they were certainly above average, but nothing to write home about.
