Their number 1: broken rice, pork chop, shredded pork, fried egg, tofu, sausage, and vegetables.

It's somewhat sad to see that this place has only one other review at the time of this writing, and it's 4 years ago at that. But I guess it's not too surprising; while it's not so much a hole in the wall in the interior of the outermost wing, it's small and cluttered and can be passed by without much notice. (They do sell some fruits and stuff outside their store though.) But as already mentioned, the owners do an awesome job at making their con tam. Their default water is a cold refreshing tea, and they also give a small cilantro soup on the side. On the plate, we get a generous serving of fresh veggies, lots of yummy shredded pork, an egg fried to perfection, and intensely flavorful Chinese sausage. The pork chop sealed the deal--so tasty and the meat was so tender. No part of the chop was dry at all. All this along with their friendly service made dinner very enjoyable. To reiterate, the owners don't speak much English, and their menu is rather limited, so just pick the con tam you want (or something else if you're really inclined), point to it, and you're good to go.

Com Tam Saigon (#1). $9 including tax.

Com Tam Saigon has been at Eden Center for many years, pretty much since the opening of Saigon West wing. They seem to do brisk business with carryout and catering orders. We ventured here for a late lunch today. It's a small space with a lot of the work overflow spilling onto some of the tables. A man was wrapping banh chung for Tet, but we were able to sit at a small table by the window. It helps to speak Vietnamese, but you can get by with pointing out what you want. The restaurant has a small dry erase board with their specialties. Since rice is in their name, you can't go wrong with ordering "Com Tam Saigon", which is listed as #1. The dish includes broken jasmine rice (com tam), shredded pork (bi), grilled marinated pork chop (thit nuong), steamed pork quiche (cha), egg over easy, and Chinese sausage (lap suong). The dish is a generous size and comes with a small bowl of broth with cilantro to enjoy after your meal. It was truly delicious and the pork was tender and had a bit of char. Use the fish sauce (nuoc mam) and mix it into your rice and bi. There are condiments to doctor the fish sauce to your preferred level of heat. Cash only! The com tam is $9/each including tax. Most places charge $8.50-99. Considering the egg is usually a $1 add on at other places, it ends up being the same amount you would spend anyway with tax.

Small, very very small. But very VERY GOOD. The food here is exactly what I wanted out of a com tam place. The portions are great, and the food came out quick!

Com Tam Saigon is not easy to find but it is most certainly worth to find it. You have to go to Eden Center and after that you have to go Saigon West section and after that you have to walk around until you find this grocery/restaurant. Once in, you have no reason to believe that you are not in Saigon - Viet TV show and there is nothing western in the shop. The proprietor does not speak English but they are ready with English written menu. Based on other Yelp reviews I took No 4 which is pork chops, sausage, rice, vegetables, shredded pork and tofu. You get strong broth soup and you get a smaller dish with a broth liquid that you pour over your meal for the extra flavor. I was also served iced tea. The meal was $8. If there was a hidden microphone I would have most certainly sound like Andrew Zimmern (from the Bizarre Foods). My sounds were in line with hmmm, OMG, so good as I was trying each piece on my rich platter. Chances that I would have find this place on my own, without Yelp, are 0%. Thank you Yelp for guiding me toward a wonderful dining experience. I have one small unfulfilled wish from this trip - despite me trying to be charming and raising my thumbs up and cleaning my plate completely - I was not able to crack a smile from an elderly Vietnamese lady that welcomed me. That is OK - we understood each other well and that is what I wanted from the human interaction. Highly recommend this place for non-experienced ethnic meal diner, who is ready to jump in the diverse ethnic dining.

That was a big mistake because Truong Tien is inside and it is amazing! My son and I started with Banh Beo Nhan Kho Tom Chay, a dish of steamed rice cake topped with fried shallots, dried powdered shrimp (prawn floss) and chicharron which you then can top with a spicy sauce. They come in little tiny dishes that you can kind of slurp the rice cake from like an oyster. The combination of textures and temperatures and flavors was delicious - and not too filling as a starter. We wanted to have a Banh Khoai Nuoc Leo (crispy pancake taco-like dish with a dipping sauce) but they were out for the day (we were there at about 4pm) so instead we had vermicelli bowls (Bun Nem Nuong) with Asian style sausage and fried spring rolls. Topped with peanuts and fish sauce, it was fresh and delicious. The host greets you warmly and offers ice water, hot or iced tea (complimentary) and the restaurant decor is absolutely beautiful. There's also a gorgeous display of food for sale near the register, including fried bananas and donut/beignet sort of treats. (Couldn't resist splitting one of those and it was lovely- not heavy or greasy and lightly sweetened.

Our server seemed a bit impatient and abrupt when taking our order (we asked how many spring rolls come in each order, and added beef meatballs to one of our pho orders), but we were mainly there for the food. The space itself is roomy, casual and comfortable, with tables spaced and seated far enough apart to not feel crowded. We started with the pork and taro spring rolls, which came out hot, cut in half, and impressively crispy! (Just as a heads up so you don't get scolded like we did - the pork and taro spring rolls come with two per order, and the price for both is a great deal compared to most pho establishments!) For our mains, we ordered three pho bowls and one dry noodle dish. The pho arrived warm, and adding bean sprouts cooled it down further rather than cooking them through. The dry noodle dish, on the other hand, was excellent in flavor, though also not very hot - likely due to the fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber) mixed in. Overall, a solid, filling meal, even if the service and the temperature of the food could be improved. Why we keep coming back: The Pho Sate is absolutely exceptional - we've tried this dish at countless Vietnamese restaurants over the years, and honestly can't find it done this well anywhere else. After 10+ years, the quality has never wavered. The broth is rich and flavorful with that perfect balance of spice and depth, the beef is always tender, and the fresh lettuce, herbs, and crispy garlic add amazing texture. But the real star? Their legendary roasted chili sauce (see photo) - that golden-orange chili oil is what dreams are made of! Savory, spicy, aromatic, and absolutely addictive. We've been eating this sauce for over a decade and it never gets old. If you love bold, authentic flavors, this alone is worth the visit. Consistently friendly and attentive staff - over all these years, the service has remained excellent. They recognize regulars, are genuinely warm and welcoming, and clearly take pride in their food and customer relationships. Plenty of parking - a practical bonus that makes every visit hassle-free. Why this deserves 5 stars: When you return to the same restaurant for over a decade, it's because they're doing everything right. The consistency in food quality, the authentic flavors, the warm hospitality - all of it has kept us coming back year after year. This isn't just good food; it's a place that's become part of our dining routine. Bottom line: After 10+ years as customers, we can confidently say this is the real deal. The Pho Sate is unmatched, that roasted chili sauce is legendary, and the entire experience is consistently excellent. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out on some of the best Vietnamese food around! Must-try: Pho Sate with the roasted chili sauce - trust us, we've been ordering it for a decade!

In the last year, we usually order the Mi Nam Vang and Mi Bo Kho, and both are consistently excellent. This past weekend, we finally decided to eat at the restaurant in person at Eden Center, and it was just as good as when we order delivery. The guy seating people was very polite and friendly, and our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Bun Mam and Mi Nam Vang, and both were amazing. Everything tasted fresh and came out super hot, which I love. There are plenty of condiments on the table if needed, but honestly the broth is so flavorful that you do not really need them. They also give a great portion of protein, which I really appreciate. The place was packed and clearly very popular, and I can see why. I will definitely continue to support Hai Duong and hope they get even more business. And I appreciate that they got so much better compared to during COVID times, Great work, Hai Duong!
