Pho Dac Biet
Ailun H.

FYI - CASH ONLY!! They also take Venmo and Zelle. $11.99 for Pho Dac Biet is a pretty solid deal, but the taste of the pho wasn't anything super special or memorable. The broth was savory and flavorful (with ox bone and beef) for the most part with a bit of "sweet" after taste. It was cleaner (and less oily) compared to other broths I've had. They were not stingy with the amount of meat I got and the quality was decent. Good amount of garnish. Overall, everything tasted pretty well together and it was perfect for a rainy and cold Saturday afternoon. While the pho here is not bad, I'd take my chances and try a different restaurant's pho before coming back to this restaurant since there are so many options in Eden Center.

Mi Tieu Dac Biet Cay Tun

Pho 95 Ratings: 3.9/5 Food: 4/5 - Decided to try Pho 95 for their famous Mi Tieu Dac Biet and Pho Dac Biet with my boyfriend and siblings. The dishes here are tasty and packed with flavors, but definitely on the saltier and greasier side compared to others. Please read the description below for more detail. - Mi Tieu Dac Biet Cay Tun [GET]: I got my favorite egg noodle dish with a bowl of soup on the side. The protein comes with roasted pork slices, fish balls, shrimps, a quail egg, and crispy shrimp cake. There were no calamari in the bowl. The egg noodles were boiled just right, not too soggy and got that springy and chewy texture to it. My favorite kind of texture. Make sure to use the dipping sauce they provided and the broth as well and mix them with the noodles. The shrimp cake was crispy, but it was too greasy for me, so I didn't get to finish all of it. I thought the minced pork was also a bit too heavy for me, but overall, it was still a delicious and tasty bowl if you want to try something new. Ambiance: 4/5 - Typical Vietnamese restaurant decor in the Eden Center. It is located inside with all the other restaurants and food vendors. The ambiance isn't the greatest, but pretty good compared to other ones. It is spacious and bright with tons of TVs displaying their boba drinks, and of course loud. The bathroom is located outside, but it was clean. Great spot for cheap and casual lunch. Price: 4/5 - The Mi Tieu Dac Biet was $13.99 before tax. My boyfriend and my siblings all ordered the Pho Dac Biet 95 for the same price as well. The total came up to be around $70 after everything. Portions are solid and prices are fair in the area. You do not get additional discounts for paying cash. Service: 3.75/5 - The server there is nice and efficient, but not very energetic to be honest. They gave us water as soon as we sat down, provided some recommendations, and took our orders. The food takes about 10 minutes to prep and came out fresh and hot. They do take credit cards now but still prefer cash or Venmo first. BLUF: Solid Vietnamese spot in the DMV area and Eden Center. I would recommend getting the mi tieu dac biet, super savory, but skip on the pho dac biet, since I think there's better ones in the area. Keep in mind that this place is on the saltier and greasier side. I would like to try all the different restaurants nearby, so I will not be returning anytime soon. It is good to try if it's your first time!

Pho with brisket and tripe

Good food with very friendly staff. We came 20 minutes before they were going to close. They still asked us to come in and eat, as long as we could be done 30 minutes after closing time ( we were done 5 minutes sooner). The food was very good and I enjoyed my beef with white onions and vermicelli. My son really enjoyed his pho with brisket and tripe. My wife had the fried rice with salted fish, which was interesting for her. It came on the side as a soup so she wasn't expecting it. We also had spring rolls that were much better than we've had in other restaurants. The only thing I didn't care for was the smell of smoke permeating everything.

I had a great experience at pho 95. Nothing fancy On the inside but the food was great. Their customer service was also on point. We were seated right away and provided ice water . We ordered their crispy spring rolls, pho, mini banh xeo, and Hu Tieu Kho. Everything was delicious and perfect for a cold night . The Hu Tieu Kho is not something that's always on the menu at a lot of pho places so I really enjoyed being able to order it here (it was perfect). I am a huge pho enthusiast . Pho 95 has amazing broth! The reason I took away one star is because the meat was not sliced thin and it was also very tough . I avoided eating the meat in the pho. Everything else was great though and I will most certainly be back as I love a trip to Eden center :)

Mi/hu tieu cay tung and pho dac biet

We ordered mi/hu tieu cay tung and pho dac biet. Hu tieu/mi cay tung was ok only problem is salty. The quantity was little less than Mi La Cay but I can see why. Only 10.99 so the amount will be different. The little side soup bowl was sour which is weird for me cause I never had it like that before. Pho was favor enough broth very clear. I just wish they put little less msg in there. I can eat msg but not to much. Just little taste of soup and ready give me headache. I tried Viet Food their noodle soup never give me headache perhaps it was less amount or none. I didn't try their drink. I love they have so many favor. And it cheap too wish I didn't bought my drink before I come here. Service they were supper nice. The lazy is nice offer us high chair immediately and she came check on us. Even the guy bring out our food too he seem nice and shy. Definitely receive great service here. It looks very roommy and new. Just the menu is little smelly and oily.

Discovered this spot in January and I thought it was really good. Extremely flavorful vermicelli bowls and I especially liked the shredded chicken salad (see pic). Coming from Orange County, CA where there's an abundance of authentic Vietnamese foods, I haven't been able to find a DMV spot that serves a Vietnamese salad to my liking yet. But this was it. I went back several more times and eventually it was closed for weeks. I wasn't sure why. As of April 2023, they changed ownership. The menu is no longer the same. They don't serve the chicken salad anymore. And I found the vermicelli bowl to lack flavor, even the fish sauce. Very disappointed. This was originally one of my favorite Vietnamese finds in DMV area. It seems it's still the same staff working though so hoping the new owner brings back some of the previous menu items.

My faaaaave pho spot in the DMV. Absolutely delicious, great service, and amazing portion sizes.

Famous house noodles with soup on the side

This shop is known for Hủ Tiếu Khô noodles (clear or yellow) with a soup on the side. I know this because this shop was here about 10yrs ago but they left town and now just came back. I normally don't order Phở here as there are specialized Phở shops just across the hallway...hint hint Some of the locals favorites here are the house noodles with soup on the side and the phở áp chảo. (See photos) Also, Lamb curry with French baguette, beef stew, and bánh khọc, are a few other dishes that are surprisingly good here as well. Again, this shop is well known for their dry noodles bowls (hủ tiếu khô) among the locals.

Lilian S.

I ordered the pho with meatballs. When I took my first sip of broth, I thought it was absolutely amazing. I continued my meal feeling very satisfied but I felt the broth ended up being a bit too flavorful/sweet for my taste as I got closer to finishing up the pho. When it comes to pho, I prefer a more lighter broth. Overall, I would say I had a great experience at this restaurant and would definitely recommend it to others as well.

Joe N.

Soup dishes really good. I had hu tieu my tho. Good pork and the fried shrimp cracker that came with it was nice. Didn't get to try their rice dishes yet but hopefully those will be available soon.

Everyone seems nice. The food here was really good. I love the hi tieu. My family really enjoyed their time here. We will be back

Drinks are also really good! Food highlights have been the fried chicken, crispy whole fish, eggplant dip. Drinks are unique, my favorite is Garden in the Sky. However, their service and timing could be improved. Between the two visits, issues included: - seated 20 minutes past our reservation. No proactive updates from the host, had to keep going up to ask. - waiting at least 15 minutes just for our server to come by for our drink order and water. At that point we just ordered everything. - drinks (both visits) are extremely slow to come out of the bar. Both visits had to ask the server where they were. We were getting them almost 30 minutes after receiving food And also - there is a booth-style table right at the entrance of the main dining area. They shouldn't seat parties of 6 here - the people not seated in the booth are partially blocking the entrance, and it was extremely uncomfortable. I think the food here definitely lives up to the hype, but if they really want a special restaurant they need to work on some service basics.

That was a big mistake because Truong Tien is inside and it is amazing! My son and I started with Banh Beo Nhan Kho Tom Chay, a dish of steamed rice cake topped with fried shallots, dried powdered shrimp (prawn floss) and chicharron which you then can top with a spicy sauce. They come in little tiny dishes that you can kind of slurp the rice cake from like an oyster. The combination of textures and temperatures and flavors was delicious - and not too filling as a starter. We wanted to have a Banh Khoai Nuoc Leo (crispy pancake taco-like dish with a dipping sauce) but they were out for the day (we were there at about 4pm) so instead we had vermicelli bowls (Bun Nem Nuong) with Asian style sausage and fried spring rolls. Topped with peanuts and fish sauce, it was fresh and delicious. The host greets you warmly and offers ice water, hot or iced tea (complimentary) and the restaurant decor is absolutely beautiful. There's also a gorgeous display of food for sale near the register, including fried bananas and donut/beignet sort of treats. Our server seemed a bit impatient and abrupt when taking our order (we asked how many spring rolls come in each order, and added beef meatballs to one of our pho orders), but we were mainly there for the food. The space itself is roomy, casual and comfortable, with tables spaced and seated far enough apart to not feel crowded. We started with the pork and taro spring rolls, which came out hot, cut in half, and impressively crispy! (Just as a heads up so you don't get scolded like we did - the pork and taro spring rolls come with two per order, and the price for both is a great deal compared to most pho establishments!) For our mains, we ordered three pho bowls and one dry noodle dish. The pho arrived warm, and adding bean sprouts cooled it down further rather than cooking them through. The dry noodle dish, on the other hand, was excellent in flavor, though also not very hot - likely due to the fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber) mixed in. Overall, a solid, filling meal, even if the service and the temperature of the food could be improved. We've been eating this sauce for over a decade and it never gets old. If you love bold, authentic flavors, this alone is worth the visit. Why this deserves 5 stars: When you return to the same restaurant for over a decade, it's because they're doing everything right. The consistency in food quality, the authentic flavors, the warm hospitality - all of it has kept us coming back year after year. This isn't just good food; it's a place that's become part of our dining routine. Bottom line: After 10+ years as customers, we can confidently say this is the real deal.
