I was quite pleased when this place opened up, I don't know of any other Vietnamese places near by.
Housed in what was formerly a fish and chippery the owners of Pho Nam have done a good job in converting the building to a restaurant. The exterior is vivid green in colour and the interior is welcoming, stylish and pleasant.
I ordered the Beef Pho, which I usually do when eating vietnamese, which, at $10, was a real steal.
Whilst, perhaps not as good as other Pho's in town it was pleasant enough and arrived with all the trimmings one would expect with a Pho. The remainder of the menu was quite limited, about 6 entrees which were very reasonably priced, and about five other mains, which, whilst more expensive than the Pho were a bit more on the fancy side, but still quite cheap, between 15 and 25 dollars.
Pho Nam also offers a degustation menu at $40 a head for those who want to step it up a little. The degustation features European style dishes, which seems a little out of place in a Vietnamese restaurant, but apparently they are the specialties of the chef. Bookings for the degustation require notice 48 hours in advance. read more
