One of the better Vietnamese restaurants around town, Vietnam scores both in food and service. With the option to dine either inside or outside, I do recommend dining inside, not because the outside is no good, but because inside the atmosphere adds to the dining experience. They are an award wining restaurant and I would recommend trying some of their signature dishes such as their BBQ chilli lemon grass quails (to die for) and their more traditional Vietnamese dishes such as their beef noodle soup or "Pho" as it is called. A really nice place for groups or if it's just the 2 of you, I recommend calling ahead to check if there are seats as it can get quite busy during dinner time and is usually packed with patrons.

We tried to eat here 5 weeks ago without a booking and we had no hope. This time we booked and it was packed to the gills. The waitresses were so friendly and offered us suggestions about what to order. We had the Vietnamese fried spring rolls for an entree and they were sublime. I thought the NNQ spring rolls were good but these were better. Our friends had the beef satays and they raves about the sauce. The mains were served not long after the entree plates were cleared and my combination soup with rice noodles was the best I have had outside of Vietnam. I will definitely be back to have that again. Everybody really enjoyed their meals and the fried rice was delicious. Usually I find that most restaurants neglect refilling your drinks but not here, the waitresses were making sure our drinks were refilled when they were almost empty. They also asked us throughout the meal if we were enjoying the food. Considering how packed it was, that was a great touch.

I keep coming back to Vietnam because I have never found anywhere else in Adelaide to match their sugar cane prawn cold rolls. They are a complete meal, which means I have only tried a few of the other dishes - the deep died soft shell crab, glass noodle salad and vegetarian fried rice. All full of fresh flavour, generously served and good value. I always book as there is never a spare spot - seems to have lots of regulars. Popular for takeaways too post sport on a weeknight (lots of footy shorts and sweaty people coming and going). Noisy, casual with stellar food, friendly and very-competent-at-crowd-control staff and no nasty MSG side effects afterwards. A real institution.

I can honestly say that I have never had better service in any restaurant. They were at the table regularly, ensuring that all of us had all we wanted. The food was amazing, and served so quickly. There are lots delicious vegan and non-vegan dishes. And wow, amazing value. The entrees were bigger than we expected and very tasty. The mains plates were piled high with scrumptious food, too much to eat. So much that we all took home large containers of food. Every meal was cooked beautifully. I'm not a vegan, the meats were tender, the rice was soft but not soggy, the food arrived at the table nice and hot. I'm told that the vegan meals were just as lovely. I was delighted that meals were brought out fairly close together. Many restaurants fail to accomplish this, so some diners finish before others have even been served. Mai Kitchen managed to have us all eating at the same time. The restaurant is clean and nicely lit, not too bright, not too dark. The simple high-backed, wooden chairs look lovely with the wooden tables and floor. The feeling is simple elegance, and open space. Surprisingly for such a large space, and so many diners, it didn't feel noisy, or crowded. After the main meal the staff surprised us with two special deserts, one vegan, one not, each with a lit candle, and led us in the Happy Birthday song. Grandma and my nephew were both delighted. They also report that the deserts were especially yummy.

The menu is extensive with plenty of variety, but the standouts for us were the sweet and sour pork and san choy bow - both packed with flavour and beautifully done. With a table of 12, our total bill came to around $300, which felt very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we enjoyed. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

Clearly fresh ingredients, excellent presentation, good value, fair prices, clean interior design, and swift service all round out the experience. As always, the food first: I've had pho everywhere with the high expectation of clear broth, true natural quality, no artificial anything to masque its natural flavor, super fresh sprouts and lime and mint (not basil) leaves on the side, freshly cut beef, al-dente noodles, and perfectly clean wares. Yen Linh met all traits. I especially appreciated the speed with which it comes out because the timely freshness from putting the beef into the hot just boiling broth is a key determinant in pho's goodness. Carry-out pho is a serious no-no unless all ingredients are separately packaged which is wastefully unenvironmental, so always have it in-house. Competitive Viet restaurants abound nearby but I found Yen Linh first upon recommend so I stay. Alcohol is available, an assortment of Western and Eastern beers. Interior design is sparse with simple tables and chairs, namely the thinner laminate kind, but no worries. Next time I'll report on the sandwiches and fried goods, another major realm of Viet cuisine in Adelaide to say nothing about the menu's many seafood dishes. Service is quick and attentive with the whole family of presumably one related to the owner chipping into make it all work quickly. While I went at non-peak hours intra-day, they act quickly enough to be confident in their handling evening rush. Didn't use restrooms or ask for other amenities like high chair, booster seat, etc. Billing is customary, no cash only rules, TV is there as background accompaniment. Neighbors are typical suburbaney strip mall-like handling, parking is easy afront mere meters from the door, and carry-out is available for all items.

Tucked into the back corner of the parking lot next to an Asian grocery, it's easy to find if you know it's there. Decor is, well...unpretentious (you can ignore the "Paris" screen in the corner too). Dress is as casual as you want to be. Service is fast-both order taking and food delivery. Dishes are brought out as they are ready but our table of four all got their mains within 3-4 minutes of the first one being served. Every dish has a fresh, crisp, made-for-you taste and you can find the layers of flavour in each dish--this food hasn't been sitting in a steam table all night developing "mono-taste." Some items are marked spicy--tangy is probably a better word. However there is plenty of hot sauce at the table to flame it up a notch or two. Prices are VERY reasonable-mains are mostly in the less than $15 range and serves are available as small, large, and extra-large. Trust me and go with large unless you are enormously hungry. Yen Linh is highly recommended for great food and service. You can pay more, but you won't eat better. Eat, drink and be merry--but not too much! JD

I recommend everyone to eat at the venues (little nnq on gouger street) are just incredible. Always packed and can be loud, so get into this Vietnamese restaurant and eat one of each!. You shouldn't be disappointed. **Haven't had to re edit my posts before till now.** I had walked up to a touch screen that had said "loyalty card" I have gone up to the station, pressed to think that this would be a good idea as I come back regularly. But encountered after I had posted my review, one of the male staff approached me in an aggressive manner. In his words "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU DOING!." came up speed walking, the facial expression on his face would be enough to make a minor upset. At no point should an employer or employee speak in such tone to a customer. The meaning for this edit Is that, I hope the NNQ owner on Woodville RD can re-inform it's employees. That under no circumstances, should anyone raise there voice at a customer. I hope this can be resolved, by putting a sign up saying. "Do not touch unless you are an employee" Hope to see improvement, but won't be back for a good few months. Hope to come back and review changes to this "staff machine" Tip. * Don't display loyalty card if there are no loyalty cards at this venue. Confusion may occur to customer.

Since the move to Woodville, they have up the place to be more trendy and cafe like, and their signatures are on the bowls. It has better parking facilities then the old place as it is across from the train station and the place is more equipped to fit more customers in and disability friendly car parking. So you can either drive here or train it in from the city. The staff are friendly and efficient and were greeted at the door immediately as we stepped in and we got seated without no hassles or bookings. The place use to be a pub but now decorated with Vietnamese decorations of rickshaws, plants and feng shui items but still looks cafe, casual setting but trendy. The meals here range from entrees of $12+, mains are $13+ and they do shared meals of grill it yourself $50 for 2 people, to $80 for 4 people. They have quite an extensive range of meals, from rice combos, vermicelli salads/soups, noodles soups/fried, vegetarian dishes and pho noodle soups. You won't be disappointed here. Meals can be shared here, as the servings are big or to taste different types of meals. I ordered the: Combination Vermicelli Salad (Bun Thap Cam): Sugar cane prawn, bbq pork, spring roll, preserved pork loaf, salads served on cold vermicelli noodles with side of fish sauce. This was delicious, the noodles were steamed instead of being boiled, so the texture was flavoursome as it absorbed the spring onions and meats instead of being watery. I really enjoyed the sugar cane prawn and the spring roll. Thumbs Up! Combination Rice Noodle - Hu tieu Thap Cam (dry version): There is the soup or dry version. I chose the dry as I wanted the flavours of the sauces and meats to be mixed with the noodles as sometimes the soup can make the flavours disappear. With the dry version, it comes with a side of soup. It is pork flavoured soup and the meats are cooked sliced pork, cooked prawns, sautéed ground pork, squid rings, fried garlic and caramelized shallot. It is covered with chives, oil and garlic for the extra taste and garnished with lettuce, cashew nuts and coriander. Thumbs Up! Hint 1: Ensure you mention to the staff if you want small or large serving, otherwise you will automatically be served/billed a large serving which is very filling. I had to get take-away. Hint 2: You will be charged for anything extras here, for example hosin sauce for $2.00, take away containers are $0.50. Overall, Thumbs up and I will be returning very soon to this place.
