It's now located behind the Arndale Shopping Centre and Greater Union Cinema so it's perfect for a feed before or after a movie. I don't know…read morehow this place has slipped my radar but after a quick search in Yelp - I felt reassured that I wasn't going to leave hungry or disappointed. It was the perfect weather for a steaming bowl of pho, it was blustery and chilly outside, but there is nothing like a bowl of soupy goodness to nurture the soul. The menu was quite varied with all sorts of entree, rice, noodles, mains and dessert dishes. I had already decided on what I wanted but would be keen to return again to try another dish. My friend ordered the spicy chicken and pork noodles and I had the combination pho. Be aware the portions here are HUGE! A small bowl is enough for the average dinner but the medium was more than enough! It was only $10 for a small but since it was only $1 extra to upgrade - I went the medium to see how much I could eat. The intoxicating scent in the restaurant was making me salivate so we ordered deep fried tofu to snack on while we waited. Service was fast and efficient, only moments after the tofu arrived, our mains was delivered before I could even take a bite of my tofu. Now I have a process before I dig into my pho, I scatter plenty of fresh Vietnamese basil, coriander and fresh chilli, a good handful of beansprouts, a squeeze of lemon and squeeze in a good dollop of hoisin sauce. I also have have an extra bit of hoisin sauce on the side to dip my beef in. And now the taste test, I take a sip of soup and almost wept tears of happiness when I inhaled my steaming hot bowl of combination. The broth past my taste test, a rich stock with perfect spices and seasoning to tickle my tastebuds, the meat was plentiful and thinly sliced, the portions were huge! Definitely coming back here again!

The result, neatly tucked in a white box, is incredibly spicy, and smells slightly charred. This kind of spicy BURNS. Hottest kway teow I think I've had. When I ask if he had any mayonnaise that I could take the edge off with, the nice owner/chef takes it back and pours half away, offering to cook me another small batch to add to it to take away the spice. He apologises, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it so spicy," and promptly fixes it. The box returns, still tasting charred yet somewhat less spicy, and my poor pathetic palate can handle it. Second time round, it is quite enjoyable - very saucy and full of flavor. The freshly stirfried veges are a highlight because the meat is very chewy. The box sizes are generous, and 15 minutes in I've only tackled a 5th of it. The sushi here is much the same as any sushi, but quite limited in range, and always just that little bit warm. Warm sushi and seafood makes me nervous, but so far I've felt fine when eating it. Remember, cash only!

Cons of Noodle Smart... the quality isn't all that great. Pad Thai was bulked up with onion and cabbage but I only found 2 shrimp and a handful of tiny pieces of chicken (one which was gristle). Should have gone the vegetarian option. At $10-$13 a serve Noodle Smart is an okay choice if you're in the area and need a big ol' box of noodles, but otherwise I'd probably give it a miss.

It is very sketchy and the parking is not paved at all and pretty aweful. You can park on street right in front of the restaurant aftet 4:30pm. The rrstaurant is pretty clean and the customer servicr is good as well. The food came out quick. My sister beef pho was great! The beef was generous portion for a small size and the broth was simple yet delicate. The noodles were wide and flat which I am not used to in pho. My dry vermicelli with meat balls, shrimp balls and spring rolls was almost excellent but the fish sauce wqs not enough for me and lacked bit of taste. None the less the topping were pretty yummy. If you are looking for a solid Vietnamese restaurant, this is definitely a right pick in nearby area.

I've been a longtime regular of my old faithful and have decided I need to open my eyes a little. Given Pho Ba Ria 2's ridiculously amazing reviews on the ol'Yelpy, Bestie and I decided it was definitely on the list. Hmm... and this is where it gets controversial. I'm just not sold. The food, the service, the setting... none adds up to 5 stars for me here... it's 3.5 at best. Whilst I loved the menu (bilingual with a huge selection... particularly of drinks!), I didn't leave thinking the food was anything amazing. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef & pork soup) (large $12.50), whilst B ordered a combination pho and we both ordered 3 Bean Drink, because that stuff is like lumpy, liquid-y heaven. Sadly the pho lacked depth of flavour, and even after drowning it in lemon juice and a dash of soy to help with seasoning it was lacklustre. The spicy soup was really hard to eat as the spices were too fine to push to the side, but not fine enough to swallow, which left my mouth and throat full of chomped up lemongrass stems... usually I will pretty much drink every last mouthful, but this soup was pushed aside once I'd finished the noodles and the non-gristly parts of meat. Finally, the 3 bean drink ($5) that we were so very excited about was really sweet compared to others I've tried, the ice was chunky which made it hard to mix. Still tasty mind you... just not 5 star worthy. Maybe we got them on a bad night. But given their prices are a little dearer than their competitors I doubt I'll be back to check.

I had 3 vegetarian spring rolls, a massive bowl of chicken lemon grass noodles and 2 glasses of wine for $30. Now that's impressive enough (who doesn't live cheap eats?) but the taste is phenomenal! The spring rolls were fresh, packed with veges with just the right amount of crunch and the noodle bowl is massive and comes with a side of chili sauce that you can pour over to add a bit of a kick, they don't skimp on the meat either! Their decor is nice enough for a casual date (maybe not your first) and there's a family friendly vibe as soon as you walk in the door and are greeted by their wonderful staff who made us laugh as well as enjoy our food. I cannot recommend this place enough and hey, if you don't have time to stop in grab a vietnamese roll on your lunch break - sure to go down a treat!

If you live this side of town its a great place to go for a cheap lunch or dinner. Rice, soup and noodle dishes are $11- $13 and the mains don't go over $20. Again, these all have that fresh taste like good viet food should. Serving sizes are good too.
