Khana Khazana is a small Indian restaurant located on Portrush Rd near Dominoes and Dan Murphys. It…read moremay be hard to spot driving 60km down a main road, but pull into the Dan Murphys parking lot and it's within 2 minutes walking distance. This place is great for takeaway. All mains are served with rice, and everything except two or three items are under $15. The service is quite good too, friendly and efficient staff. For all you chilli lovers, I'd recommend the Lamb/Beef Vindaloo - it's that extra bit hotter but doesn't numb your mouth to the point of not being able to taste the flavours. The Chicken Tikka and Tandoori Chicken are nice too - nicely cooked and very flavoursome. If you want to try something different, go for the Paneer Butter Masala - cottage cheese cooked in a rich cashew and tomato base with spices, cream and yoghurt. A bit too rich for my liking, but some may enjoy it. Oh, don't forget to order a serve of Naan bread (any Naan will do, Butter, Paneer, you name it)!

This little hole in the wall, on a busy arterial road in the eastern suburbs, dishes up some of the…read morefinest Indian food you'll find. The place looks and feels a bit austere - plain timber tables, a few Hindi decorations here and there - but the low budget feel belies the warm service and the superb range of North Indian delicacies offered, according to the menu, by 'Mr Rawat'. The 'mixed entree' ($10) is a good way to start a meal for meat eaters. It's a selection of tandoori-cooked seafood, lamb and chicken, ruby-red and perfectly spiced to whet the appetite for what is to come. It comes with a small bowl of mint sauce, for the dipping. Delicious. The biryani ($13.50) is delicate and flavoursome, while the beef madras ($13.50) is hearty and well-seasoned. The garlic naan ($3) was full of flavour, but a little oily. Fresh cold water (free) accompanied our meal. The bill for this simple but delightful meal for two? $40, which can't be bad. Thank you, Mr Rawat! There's plenty of parking outside Dan Murphy's next door.

Junk mail, who would have thought you would serve me so well? Thus leading me to idyllic Indian…read morebliss. Meanwhile this brings me to my next question, which is, what's better than discovering that there is an Indian place just 5-minutes away? I would say an Indian place that lives up to desired expectations, and is cheaper than the standard counterpart. I don't mean to go all Bollywood on you, but Goodwood Tandoori- Shil nzhoo! I love you! My boyfriend and I rocked up here after we craved food, and wanted to remain in close proximity to my house when it came to devouring it. We would have dined within the premises however we arrived after they had technically shut. Luckily, and as already implied, they also cater for take out. Its headquarters are not the most fancy of Indian restaurants, however you don't exactly go to Goodwood road to dine 5 stars do you now? Especially when there is a Barnacle Bills in the same mini complex of shops. The food is prepared quickly, and in my experience, I couldn't fault it. New discoveries such as these make me happy. I can't really explain it. We ordered spicy (well, spicy to me) chicken curries, which were a good serving size and smelt delicious. All up two curries, adequate rice, garlic yogurt and a couple pappadums set us back just twenty-two bucks. Not bad. The final test of judgement was the most important, the taste test. Thankfully this was enough to seal the deal and the bf and I remained pretty thrilled with the results. Two happy chappies. Good work Goodwood Tandoori, oh and thanks for the junk mail.
