When I came in, I wasn't sure if I was to be seated or come to the counter and order. Two employees stood behind the counter and stared at me and my friend before I finally said, "I'm not quite sure where we're supposed to go." They told us to sit anywhere we like and we sat down and ordered drinks. They came promptly and we were ready to order. I got a bowl of Pho Tai and some Cha Goi. Food was timely and fresh. The beef in the Pho Tai was delicious. It was sliced so thin, it melted in my mouth. The Pho broth was lacking flavor except for a smell and after-taste of fish. The noodles were stuck together, all of which made the bowl pretty unappetizing except for the beef. The Cha Goi was dry and lacked flavor as well. I asked for some soy sauce and was met with hesitation by my waiter but he went in the back and poured some into a bowl and brought it to me. I am aware that soy sauce is not always a typical condiment for Pho, but it's an Asian restaurant. I mean, c'mon. There are other places in town to satisfy my Pho cravings. Now that Lam Tuyen is closed, this is the best place for pho in Springfield, MO. The owner is often there, and always has a big smile and wants to make sure you have a great experience. A smallish place, the food is delicious. Sometimes the server can make mistakes, so make sure to speak up if your order of spring rolls was misplaced or the fixin's for the pho were forgotten in the kitchen. I've only had their pho, but it is healthy and fresh tasting, without all the MSG saltiness crap that other Vietnamese places in Springfield seem to love. Haven't had a chance to try the banh mi yet (I'm pregnant and nauseous a lot and had a bad experience with banh mi early in my pregnancy, so I'm waiting until after the baby arrives to try theirs as I don't want to taint my first taste of banh mi in Springfield, MO). Glad we came across this hidden gem during a marathon Sunday shopping session! We wanted something quick and cheap for lunch, and this fit the bill really well. We started with the fresh spring rolls. The veggies were crunchy and fresh, the meat tasty, and they held together very well. The peanut sauce was a highlight (as it usually is by nature) and I appreciated that we each got our own ramekin of sauce so as not to prevent double (triple, quadruple....) dipping! We both got bahn mis, I got the plain pork and boo got pork and pate. I went in kind of hoping for a chicken option, but no such thing on the menu. Given how friendly the staff was, I kind of wondered if they would have made one on request! But the pork was delicious. I had assumed that I would be full before I finished the sandwich - they are generously sized, especially for $4 - and planned to give boo my leftovers. However, I couldn't stop until it was all gone! It was so tasty! I did have to pick out the jalapeno, cut them up, and put them back in - even though there were only 2 or 3 slices, apparently I am a wimp! I wouldn't ask that it be left out though, since it's an integral taste to the sandwich. Like I said, the service was very good - friendly and quick! For most of our visit, we were the only customers dining in; it didn't feel like they were hovering or obsequious, but our water glasses were always full and our plates were quickly cleared. The ambience is pretty spare, but I did think some of the plates hanging on the wall were surprisingly pretty! I'm sad that this is on the other side of town, and is in a strip mall that seems to be on the downslide. I hope they keep up the good work and continue to thrive!! FINALLY!! Authentic Pho in Missouri. This is one of the best Pho' s I've tried in my time and I've tried probably 100 different Vietnamese restaurants all over the U.S. Living in the West Coast most my life there is a Pho restaurant on every corner in every city.. when I moved here I was literally having Pho Panic Attacks!! This is something I've eaten once a week for many many years and I missed it so.. I'm an hour drive to Sprigfield so after a year of living here I haven't tried many other eating establishments because when I get to Springfield all I think about is Pho!! Kim the owner and chef was so gracious and kind and came out to introduce herself. She gave recommend dishes although we knew what we wanted already.. she also came out afterwards to see if we liked the food. Now that's the way a restaurant should be ran. Way to go Kim!! Our waitress was also just right. We had the spring rolls and the special pho, and the pho with rare beef and well done brisket. Too die for!! The meat was very flavorful and the broth was heaven in a spoon. Perfect amount of fresh herbs thai basil and cilantro and bean sprouts! There was more meat in my soup bowl than I've ever had and I ate every last morsel. You will not leave hungry. Prices are low and fair. I hope this place gets word of mouth and I hope Kim makes it here because I cannot bare to lose this hidden gem in Springfield. Pho is also the perfect soup to take home.. heat it up and add all the fresh herbs. Taste as good as sitting in the restaurant. For my first meal at Pho Kim, I had the spring rolls - they were fresh and delicious with shrimp and sliced pork. The peanut sauce was excellent. Then I continued with Com Tam Saigon, the broken rice dish with a large portion of well seasoned pork, hard fried egg, pickled cabbage salad and rice. The flavors were well melded and hearty. The presentation is down to earth, as if you were eating in your friend's home in Vietnam. The owner, Kim, is very friendly and happy to discuss the menu choices. The service is prompt and attentive. This restaurant is spotlessly clean, attractive, and convenient. On top of everything else, the prices are very reasonable. I will be back, and bring friends with me. We came here for the bubble tea! The mango flavor was great - it was my first experience trying bubble tea and I have to say I haven't had one quite like it since. It was smooth and creamy. My daughter went in and ordered 2 orders. They received one order. So, she went back in to show the lady her receipt and in the bag was only one order. Then the lady took her mask off and said it would be $9. My daughter replied no, I already paid you here's my receipt. The lady then started shouting at my daughter and said she was not giving her anymore food for free. Again my daughter had her receipt showing she paid for 2 meals but, only received one meal. They have good food, but - as weird as this sounds - I prefer their pho 'to-go' mainly because the broth seems to be stronger than eating inside the restaurant. This is my family's go to place for Vietnamese food. So far no other place beats it. My review is based on the food we mostly eat here, which is the Pho, Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls and my personal favorite, Boba Tea. My advice when it comes to authentic Asian eats is that if the place sells Crab Rangoon, run and don't look back. There is nothing 'Asian' about Crab Rangoon. The Pho is always spot on and very filling. The veggies that come with the Pho are always fresh. My husband always orders the P6, which is the Pho with different meats in it, I usually get the P5 and the kiddos always order the P7. The Spring Rolls are always flavorful and fresh. The peanut sauce that accompanies the rolls are very flavorful as well. The Egg Rolls are crisp and flavorful. As for the Boba Tea, I always order the Mango flavor. Maybe next time I'll try the Strawberry flavor. I just love Boba Tea, its hard to find when living on the Mainland. I grew up in Hawaii and you'll find places that sell Boba Tea very easily unlike here. Another thing I love about this place is the wait staff and the owner. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The owner will come out and chat with you if she has some time, which she normally does. She's a sweet lady. read more

I can't even tell you how frustrating this business is. We specifically went for the Pho, as my husband loves it, but their poor business practices have ruined things. Upon arrival, each table has a flyer inserted under the glass table tops to encourage patrons to scan a code to view an online menu. We did this, requesting 2 orders of egg rolls, chicken fried rice and Pho. When the food arrived, we immediately asked why there were only 4 egg rolls when the menu specified 3 per order. The waitress just shrugged and said they changed that a year ago. We showed her the online menu to support our concern, but she just shrugged and tried to show us the hard copy menu (which we had not used when ordering). No apology, no offer to make things right, nothing. We continued eating and when the bill came, we noticed the bill came out quite a bit higher than it should have. The owner was cashing out our ticket, so we asked why the price was different. Again, she said "it's been that way for a year". Ok. But, the restaurant is actively encouraging the use of digital menus which they know have incorrect pricing and incorrect quantities, yet they make no mention of this when you order. We didn't order food a year ago, we ordered today on a menu the restaurant encouraged us to use! Even worse, they don't offer to make things right or apologize at all. We understand all restaurants must raise prices when the cost of goods goes up, but offering a product at one price and charging a different price is misleading and wrong. read more

This place was absolutely adorable, and the food was amazing! I came in the middle of the lunch rush, and the waitress was totally slammed. But, there are only about 9 tables in the whole place, so there wasn't a need for a second waitress. She was full of personality, sweet as can be, and managed the rush beautifully. I ordered the Pho with rare beef, and a taro boba smoothie. I had my food before I could even wonder where it was, and the pho blew me away. It was so...fresh and flavorful. I really wasn't like any other pho served in town. Based on this alone, I will be back! The boba on the other hand, not so much. It was poorly blended and very icey, but the taste was fine so I put up with it. I won't order that again, but like I said, the pho was mind blowing. Me and my girlfriends family stopped by here for a quick lunch before dropping her family off at the nearby airport. This day was the day in summer of 2016 in which I ate the best banh mi in my entire life. I ordered 1 banh mi because I wasn't really hungry to begin with and I ended up ordering 3 more. I wasn't even hungry, I was eating out of pure pleasure. No I am not some overweight fat guy. I am an average Asian guy 160lb 5'7 tall. My girlfriends family ordered other things too but the banh mi was the best. The owner Kim came out and chit chatted with my girlfriends aunt and found out they were from the same village in Vietnam.She told us her banh mi was made completely from scratch. I am writing this review 7 months after my visit to say I have traveled across many states such as California, Arizona, Chicago and Indiana (I am active military). I even traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for vacation and have yet to eat banh mi that was better than Pho Kims in Springfield, MO. I ate banh mi at different restaurants almost every day in Vietnam and nothing has topped hers(One Lesbian restaurant in Saigon came very close)Kim puts a perfect but generous amount of pate and mayonnaise on her baguette along with very tasty pickled carrots, cilantro, and chili peppers all fused with a combination of slices of porks and meats. She bakes the bread just perfect where it's a nice crisp outside and soft inside for the perfect textured sandwich. I will continue to eat banh mi from places or learn to make my own in hopes of one day to top her banh mi. 5/5 stars will return here again one day to obliterate as many banh mi's as I can. read more
