My son and I stopped in here today on our way from getting his glasses at the mall. My son had the P01 pho which was described as Special combo. Eyeround, shank, flank, brisket, tendon, tripe, meatball. He said it was very good, but wished it had just a few more meat pieces. I had B16, grilled pork egg roll and steamed pork skin over vermicelli. It was the first time for me to try a vermicelli bowl. I really liked it. All the ingredients were so fresh and tasty. We also had some grilled pork summer rolls. They were nice and tight and had a really good flavor. The server was very friendly. The only negative, which we can look past, is that the floor on the one side of the building is not in good shape. Some of the tiles are coming loose where the foundation seems to be sinking a bit. But, since we didn't go there to eat the floor, we didn't care that much. This place will definitely be on our pho rotation in the future.
Hole in the wall, recommended to me. Very authentic, 1970s vibe. We both got pho, tasted so flavorful, just the right amount. Plenty of tables. The waiter was to the point and got the job done. We definitely enjoyed our time here, can't wait to return and try other stuff. I also got the salty plum drink, delicious though too sweet. I think he may have put sprite instead. Can't wait to return!
Love this place. Service is fast. Chill ambiance feels like old style asian restaurant. The food was yummy and very affordable.
This is a fantastic hole in the wall. If you approach it that way you will be super happy with this place. Authentic Vietnamese food, deep menu, prepared fresh to order. Super tasty, fast, generous portions and great prices. Clean, nice dining room, no-drama service. What's not to love? I will be back!
Best pho I have ever tasted. The service was quick and friendly. I don't quite remember the ambience but it was only because my little and I were very sick that day. Highly recommend this medicinal food
I've been wanting to try this place for years and today was the day......Sssssoooooo Good! I knew it was going to be the real deal when I walked in and saw Vietnamese folks eating. I feel the same about Mexican restaurants. If I see my people, it's going to be authentic. I had the Chicken Pho and egg rolls. I have to say this broth was soooo good. Super flavorful and really stood out among other places I've tried. It was all great, very hot and the best I've had so far. I also got an order of egg rolls which were a 10/10. So good, I ordered a second order and I was already full but still, I had to go for it. The only call out was the soup was 9.99 according to the menu and the egg rolls were 3.99 each order which would put my bill at 19.45 after tax. When the waitress rung me up, the total was over 21.00, why? I hadn't paid yet so it wasn't a fee for using a CC. Nothing major, just a pet peeve for restaurants these days that don't give you a paper bill but instead ring you up at the register. I got a receipt but it was not itemized. Overall, really loved the food. PS, you are not going here for the atmosphere , it's all about the food. The building is old but clean, and the inside is outdated but again, this is about the food. Can't wait to go back.
Have this place a try for the Bobby tea that my son was craving, it was good, while waiting we saw some of the dishes served to other patrons and they were large bowls so I will be back to try their food. The dining area is large so there is plenty of seating and the sounds of their fish pond adds a relaxing environment.
This place serves the BEST authentic vietnamese food. I came with my wife and it made me fall in love with her again. I will definitely be back!!
I absolutely love this Vietnamese place. Owner and family staff are super friendly. They remember who you are and service is great! My go to ordered is the C01. Com Dac Biet substituted pork chop for grilled pork and P01: PHO Dac Biet. Both dishes are packaged with care and the quality is the same as dining in. The grill pork is so good along with the egg/meat loaf, fried egg, and bi! The pho broth was flavorful and great for a rainy day or when feeling under the weather! The perfect cure! Both authentic Vietnamese dishes reminded me of home and the taste of Vietnam! Thank you!!
Great service, another locally owned gem! Lotus salad is sooo good and the vermicelli bowl is generous! Careful with the xl pho it's nearly a gallons worth of broth hahaha our food was fast and perfect temp and portion! Super chill and quiet environment and we forgot to take all the pics we were too busy eating it all!
Food was very good my husband had Pho and I had the fried rice with beef, quiet place, kind of hidden but worth to try, fast service, would be back to try something different.

I am visiting from Dallas where we have a good hub of Viet food in the metroplex... and I was disappointed by the pho here. Perhaps it was more so the cleanliness and effect of flavor. The drinking water tasted like dirty water, and the veggies were old and not well washed. This was my 1st time eating hard tendon that tasted gamey(?) and like dirty water too. It was an empty restaurant at 11:30am on a Saturday, and I could understand why after our meal. It was an unfortunate, because the older gentleman serving us seemed nice. read more

Fast service, delicious pho, gets the job done on a cold rainy day. I've tried a few places around this area and this pho spot has the best broth at an extremely affordable price (the large was just under $10)! What more could you want? read more

Service and ambiance was pretty nice, my partner and I went around afternoon and we had gotten the pork summer rolls 8/10. My partner got the stir fried lemony grass chicken and she really liked it. I had gotten the char siu pork fried rice 9/10 would recommend to a friend!! read more

As a Vietnamese on the search for good authentic food around Texas , Pho tai (4.5/5) : best broth I've tasted around SA! it was clean and had great beefy/umami flavor. The noodles cooked perfectly. Beef was tender and thinly cut. Warm and filling Grilled pork/egg roll noodles (5/5): The oil/seasoning they used for the dish tastes very similar to the noodles I've had in Vietnam!Pork seasoned perfectly, noodles were a little smaller/thinner than what I'm used to but good. All the toppings like lettuce, bean sprouts, daikon, cilantro were all great, no complaints. The eggroll itself added more crunchy texture to the dish. No joke, I recommend getting these noodles! read more

I got excited about Pho Hong Phat because in the photos and on their menu they have the egg loaf. However, once we got inside the excitement died down and never picked back up. The interior is dark and a bit dated giving it a vibe I've never quite had in a Vietnamese restaurant. It was not improved when a dish was made in the kitchen that produced a lot of smoke and started to fill the dining area with a haze. Additionally, once a table finished and left, the dishes were never cleaned up while I was there, and this happened to about 4 tables. Very odd for a Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered a bowl of pho nam gau and a com dac biet (combination rice plate) in addition to cha gio (Vietnamese spring rolls) as an appetizer. All food items came out looking good and in an appropriate amount of time, but the devil is in the details. The cha gio was very oily and left a coating on the plate it came out on. Filling was good, but the nuoc mam was a bit bland to couple with it. Our main entrees came out shortly after with a very nice presentation on the com dac biet. Oddly, with my pho I didn't get the greens that go with it on the side - bean sprouts, basil, and jalapenos. I saw another table get it, but I didn't bother to ask since I was fine without the extra bits this time. The pork chops with the com dac biet were thin which is normal, but didn't have that distinctive red hue to them that comes from the seasoning. It was colored, yes, but not rich and vibrant... rather pale and dull. The fried egg was perfectly cooked and everything tasted pretty good though. Again, I ordered pho nam gau but got pho tai nam gau... not the worst wrong order to get in the grand scheme of things. The bowl was very good though. Good pieces of meat, good broth, perfectly cooked rice noodles, and a very large portion overall. The service was a bit lackluster as well as the interior and the food was fairly good with a couple hits and misses. Personally, with all of the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area this one did not shine very bright. read more
Definitely my favorite place for pho. The family who owns it are all very nice. The pho is so very good. I tell everyone their pho is a treat to your soul. Price is fair. Portions are huge. Thank y'all so much. Love this place. read more

Pho Hong phat is my favorite pho restaurant in San Antonio. It is the place to go if you want a consistently great bowl of beef noodles for a very fair price (8$ for a large), not the place to go if you want beautiful ambiance. The soup is consistently flavorful and they give a generous amount of meat per bowl. I always get the P18 because it has almost the same variety of meat as the pho dac biet but without the increase in price, and I am never disappointed. This place is comparable to good pho restaurants in Houston's Chinatown. In regards to service, you may have to wave someone over now and then, but I didn't ever feel like they were ever rude or ignoring my needs. Also a pro tip it's only 3 dollars more for the x-large which is like the size of 1.5-2 larges. (wish I had put something to compare it to, but trust me it's huge) read more
Bun bo hue - watered down. Blood sausage was old. Meat quality was lacking - so little meat with cut thinly. Disappointed because i thought their pho was pretty good. Needed a lot more sate (oil Chile sauce). Vegetables were lacking in variety. All I got was bean sprout and Thai mint leaves. Perhaps I should stop ordering obscure Vietnamese dishes in San Antonio. We have been here twice, and every time their Pho Tai is always the best! And I don't know if they make the chili paste in house, but when I add it to the soup, it makes it sing! If you love spicy, then this pho with chili paste and Sriracha is delicious! As you can see in the picture, it is almost gone! read more
