KATY, TX 77494 / VIETNAMESE / 12-21-24 / DINNER +The beef broth soup was steaming hot just like how I like it, and it had good flavor. +The customer service was alright. -The sauces that come with the appetizers could use some improvement. -MSG overload. I was very sleepy after the meal. -Wish there were more size options and a loyalty rewards program.

Love having a local pho spot so close to home! Staff was very attentive and helpful. Inside decor was clean, well-lit, and modern. Lots of real poinsettias lining the restaurant makes it lively and colorful. We ordered the baby eggrolls which come with 10 pieces. They were freshly fried and juicy inside. Then ordered 2 bowls of pho with brisket, beef flank and meatballs. The broth was clean and well seasoned. One size option but it was plenty and we left stuffed! The meat was all fresh and tasted great. All the condiments were well topped off. We will definitely be back to try more options.

I had high hopes that this place would become a favorite, since it is so close to where I live and work. I consider myself a vermicelli connoisseur, and really, the vegetarian version is hard to get wrong. However, this one missed the mark. The veggies were a bit soggy, and the fried tofu was overcooked. They swapped mint for the traditional cilantro, and the fish sauce had zero spice or flavor. I did delivery on this order, so perhaps that was a contributing factor. Still, $16 felt overpriced for food that was underwhelming.

I had a Grill Beef Banh Mi. A good sandwich. The bread was nice and flaky. The ingredients were fresh. It could have used a little bit of beef but a good sandwich for the price. The service was fast and attentive.

Stopped by a little after lunch time to find it not so busy which was nice. The inside is your typical pho place, nothing special about the decor. Service was prompt and attentive. I ordered prawn spring rolls and a grilled chicken vermicelli bowl. I truly enjoyed my entire meal here. Spring rolls were fresh, peanut sauce was warm and delicious. My vermicelli bowl took a little while to come out and sure enough, my chicken was freshly cooked. I could still smell the deliciousness coming my way. Will be returning to try other items on the menu!

We have ate here twice now. Service is good . Ambience is nice and open quiet ( see pics.) . Gobbled down their PHO . Added their chili above average . All their food tasted good first time and the second. But noticed the PHO broth lacked that deep Umami flavor this time around. Then afterwards- we both got a nasty MSG reaction . Other reviewer have noted such also. MSG is banned in baby food throughout EUROPE. I wonder why ? If you are NOT sensitive to MSG gobble it down. Usually the most authentic quality restaurants - there is NO NEED to use monosodium glutamate.

We are so excited to have a good Vietnamese restaurant right near our home! We ordered the mini egg rolls as an appetizer and it came out so fresh and hot. The egg rolls were tasty and had a good crunch to it. The pho was so good! I got the brisket and beef meatballs with mine. The broth was very hot when it came out which is important to me. The flavor of the broth was very tasty and the broth itself was clean instead of foggy looking like at some other restaurants. The brisket was flavorful and tender and the meatballs were standard but good. The noodles were cooked well to where it was soft but not soggy. I will definitely be back!

this place a -10 out of 10 . I tried you as a new restaurant and I'm straight let down please close your doors.

I got pork spring rolls and received the beef. Spring rolls with avocado, and the meat was completely un edible just filled with gristle couldn't even chew it or swallow it and then I gotta order the crab Rangoon's, which are the skinniest driest thing I've ever put in my mouth, but the coffee was good., I tried this restaurant as a new restaurant from DoorDash. I've been craving this food and I wasn't able to eat any of it. Please close your doors so you don't do this to anyone else that's having a bad day. Food is my safe place and this is not it.

After fasting for 36 hours, Yummy Quan was our first stop -- and at that point, we would've eaten…read morealmost anything... but luckily, we didn't have to settle. This place delivered where it mattered most, especially with the highly reviewed appetizers. Probably one of my favorite drinks here was the Thai Green Tea. It has a really interesting flavor that stands out from regular Thai Tea -- more earthy, but not quite like matcha (we guessed there might be pandan in it). Just a heads up: it's definitely on the sweeter side. My partner and I actually let the ice melt a bit before continuing to drink it, which helped balance things out. I came back a second time and still loved it just as much. The dipping sauce felt like a truly authentic representation of Vietnamese cuisine. It was a lightly diluted fish sauce with spicy red pepper and plenty of garlic -- simple but really flavorful. I also appreciated that the table setup let you customize it to your taste. In my first experience here, we ordered the Bánh Xèo, Bánh Khọt, and Bánh Bột Chiên. I was hands down a huge fan of the ginormous Bánh Xèo -- crispy, flavorful, and just overall my favorite (though I'll admit I'm a little biased toward it already). Meanwhile, my boyfriend completely fell in love with the crunchy Bánh Khọt. That said, I did notice a slight graininess in the Bánh Khọt, which took away a few points for me. The Bánh Bột Chiên was solid and got a pass from us, but it wasn't our top pick -- mostly because we've had better versions elsewhere. Other worthy notes: the herbs were fresh and crisp, and the pickled vegetables were refreshing as well (though my boyfriend thought they could've been a bit more strongly pickled). Eating everything the traditional way -- wrapping it in lettuce with herbs -- made the whole experience even better. Honestly, I would come back just to order two Bánh Xèo. I actually came back a second time before posting this review, this time with my family. We ordered the Bắp Xào, Cơm Chiên Bò Lúc Lắc, and a simple rice dish. This visit was a bit different -- across the board, we all agreed the dishes leaned too salty this time around. I could also tell the staff was overwhelmed, with only two people handling both the front and the kitchen, so it was tough to get their attention at times. That said, the Bánh Xèo still held its ground. My parents were genuinely impressed by the size, and for me, it's still an absolute banger -- something I'd come back for again and again purely for flavor and value. The Bắp Xào really stood out to me in a nostalgic way. I loved the use of traditional Vietnamese corn, and the sautéed dried shrimp brought back memories of flavors from dishes I grew up eating, even if I couldn't quite pinpoint which one. While my mom thought it was too salty, I actually felt like it would pair perfectly with a bowl of plain white rice. I also tried some of my brother's Cơm Chiên Bò Lúc Lắc and found the beef to be tender and flavorful, though not particularly standout compared to other places. I've had very similar versions nearby, but it's still my brother's go-to -- though I suspect that might also be his way of loading up on protein. Overall, even with the inconsistency during the second visit, I still really enjoy Yummy Quan -- especially for the appetizers. It's a place I'd bring family and friends to try, and I'm still curious about more of the menu... but realistically, I could live life on Bánh Xèo alone. At the end, you also get to grab some guava candy, and for anyone who's never had these, don't forget to pick some up -- they're simply delectable!

We saw on the door that they're BYOB? Thai Green Tea (4.5/5): Really sweet but with some pretty unique grassy/herbal notes! (Pandan??) Would recommend if they can adjust the sweetness down a notch. We let the ice melt a bit and it made for a great palatte cleanser. Banh Xeo (4.5/5): Definitely one of their signature dishes. I read the reviews on how large it was and it was still shocking! See my hand for reference. It's crispy and delicious. Two downsides: Not enough protein, and not enough lettuce to make wraps with how big it is. But overall, definitely one of the best I've had outside of homemade. Banh Khot (4/5): These little flavor explosions are a perfect bite size and are also a signature dish. Would definitely recommend. A few of ours were light on the pork. Banh Bot Chien (3.5/5): I was dying to try this since there is really one famous spot for it. Their version is very good, but misses on the crispiness. The inside texture and pairing sauces and radish were all very good, it just needed a little more crisp. I love that they give extra garlic and spice and basically let you customize the intensity of your fish sauce to your preference. Paid with no issues via inKind at the counter. We definitely left stuffed and would come back!

We got the roti canai and salt and pepper calamari as appetizers, and the sizzling tofu, beef rendang, CK teow as entrees. - Sizzling tofu (6/5): A MUST TRY! I've never had tofu with this texture before. The outside is slightly crisp and the inside so light and fluffy, it feels like bitting into a cloud. The tofu tastes like a creamy egg soufflé and the sauce is savory and salty with pieces of sauté onions that add a nice crunch. The presentation was also very striking with the server pouring the sizzling sauce over the tofu. It's just such a beautiful dish that I would go back solely for! - Beef rendang (4.5/5): Overall a delicious and hearty dish. The beef was very tender and juicy, and there was a generous amount of it. The potatoes soaked up the sauce very well and made the dish extra filling. I forgot if we got to pick a spice level, but the dish had a nice kick to it and wasn't overwhelming spicy. - "CK teow" char kway teow (4/5): This dish had a lovely char tasted to it that made it very addictive. Just a nice savory noodle dish. I think my only complaint was that the portion was on the smaller side - Salt & pepper calamari (3.6/5): This was a pretty good calamari. The calamari had a light and crispy exterior and was pretty tender and seasoned really well. The chunky veggies were a nice touch texture wise. - Roti Canai (3.6/5): the Indian bread was so nice and flakey, I could've eaten it alone. The curry was also really tasty and flavorful, just a little bit watery. Service/ambiance: Service was excellent and they gave us so much rice. The restaurant was dimly lit, giving it a nice ambiance for dinner or a date night.

I've been meaning to write a review for years! See my photos of the different meals I remembered to shoot. Anything you order, you can't go wrong! Everything here is consistently excellent. My go-to order is the Bún Thịt Nướng (B2) -- the grilled pork is perfectly seasoned and cooked, the noodles are light, and the vegetables are incredibly fresh. I also love the garden rolls with pork or shrimp. What really sets them apart are the sauces: tangy, balanced, and flavorful without being overly sweet. You can tell care is taken with every component. We've ordered family meals, various entrees and it never disappoints. Their soups are also outstanding -- comforting, deeply flavored, and exactly what you want alongside a Vietnamese meal done right. I bring family and friends here whenever I can, and everyone loves it. Their take out is quick and still as tasty. The staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming, the prices are modest and fair, and the whole experience feels like a breath of fresh air compared to Los Angeles dining. Parking is plentiful, and while Katy Asian Town has many good spots, Com Tam Saigon is always my favorite. Reliable, delicious, welcoming -- this place never disappoints. Try it!

The atmosphere is cute, the energy is good... and the volume is LOUD. We had two kids across from us screaming like they were auditioning for a horror movie, so conversation was basically optional. Not the restaurant's fault, but definitely part of the experience. Now the food? Genuinely delicious. My husband ordered the pho and ended up emptying two bowls of chili sauce into it -- and it was still on the mild side. Flavorful, yes. Spicy, not so much. If you love heat, you'll want to BYO fire. I ordered the tofu vermicelli and it was fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, great texture -- it just needed a little kick to make it perfect. Same with the spring rolls. Still, I was honestly thrilled to see a full vegetarian section on the menu. As a vegan‑who‑still‑eats‑cheese (cheese‑itarian life), having real options felt like a win. And bonus points: they've got a killer local beer selection. Plenty of great choices, and it pairs perfectly with the food. Bottom line: Corner 99 serves great food with thoughtful vegetarian choices and awesome local beers, but if you're a spice lover, you'll be doing your own heavy lifting. And maybe bring noise‑canceling headphones just in case the kid choir is performing again.
