First let me start by saying that Pho Dollar has some of the best pho tai in Buffalo, but unfortunately the service is not up to par. I recently ordered takeout and when I picked up my order I asked the cashier if they delivered near UB South Campus and she said yes (minimum order $25) and handed me a takeout menu. I called to order delivery today and low and behold they said they do not deliver to this area. The girl on the phone was very rude. Definitely check with the manager to confirm if they deliver to your area before ordering delivery, because apparently the staff does not know and provides incorrect information. read more

Maybe 5 stars is pushing it a little after just one visit, but I thoroughly enjoyed my first meal there. Really some of the best pho I've had in a long time, and with all the necessary trimmings. I have mixed feelings on this one. I ordered lamb..as the menu stated and got clams....lol..when i pointed it out to the gentleman server, who may have been the owner...he said oh...yea...this is clams. I think he needs to have an american proof rea his menu before it goes to print. The same thing happend when i ordered what ibthought was a shrimp appetizer...it clearly said shrimp...but what i got was a type of meat with the texture of spam...it was odd...kind of tastey...but not what i ordered. I'm gonna be honest about this place. It is pretty small but it looks old. The staff isn't that friendly and doesn't smile at all, although I can't judge on that because it's probably just because of how much they work. They food wasn't good either. The meat was burned but the noodles were cold. Spring roll wasn't that good either. Nor was the Thai Tea. The tables are small and it was barely enough room for food. Very noisy. The waiter is super friendly and helpful. I ordered pho with eye-round brisket and meatball and Vietnamese spicy wings, both of which are tasty. The beef in the pho is plentiful; the wings are a must-try. Sort of like barbecue style, very fragrant and juicy too. The soup of the pho here is a little sweeter than others, but I like it. I've tried Pho Dollar twice, there will NOT be a third time. The pho is not good, broth is bland, noodles over cooked. The BBQ pork banh mi is very good but for some reason 3 of the owners and or servers were staring at our table of 4 females like we were going to steal something? That made for a weird and uncomfortable vibe throughout our meal. Asian restaurants fail mostly over customer service and this is a prime example. I'll be getting my pho fix elsewhere. read more

Went To pho dollar and ordered takeout for dinner. Sat at the bar and had a beer while conversing with the owner. Couldn't have been any nicer or more helpful. I ordered the crispy Vietnamese eggrolls along with a pho with rare beef and sliced meat balls. Your order comes deconstructed so that noodles don't get soggy. Really used to dig this spot but one day my queen and I was trying to get some tasty fixins. Well I'll tell you our fixins were probably tasty but the server lady (who had the temperament of a young wildebeest) that greeted us by shouting "COME UP HEA!" upon our entering, had come to ruin our experience. She was more concerned about 'where her food at! And shouting about various other struggles that she was facing in her life than she was with taking our order. So, yeah, we ain't gunna make the voyage back to this noodle hut unless someone confirms that Shouty McLoud-lips has gone elsewhere permanently. Went to see if it would be better than pho99. It totally was. I don't think I'd ever go back. I got #19 which is essentially the flagship pho but the slightly smaller bowl. It was delicious and had decent amount of meat. I also got the pork banh mi and unfortunately had done tendony may. But otherwise, highly recommended and world definitely come back read more

This place is pho-nom-enal; it's one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo for a casual meal. The place is pretty no frills -- you set the table yourself from the utensil caddy on the table, there's a large TV on the wall (low volume) that many patrons watch, and while the service isn't personable, it's quick and efficient. I've had both the bun and the pho here. Both are excellent choices. The vegetables are always plentiful and fresh (especially important for bean sprouts!). The sauce served on the side of the bun is delicious and the pho broth is extremely flavorful without being too fatty. I've never had a problem with the rice noodles being overcooked here. The serving portions are just right. The egg rolls are some of the best Vietnamese egg rolls I've had, and you can add a single one on to your entrée for less than $2.00 if you don't feel like ordering the appetizer version. My only complaint is that they don't have little sauce dishes on the table. While they have hot sauce, chili sauce, and hoisin out on the table, they don't provide little dishes if you don't want to put the sauces directly into your dish. This place is super fun, casual, and tasty. It's not for everyone, as some might be bothered by the quick service, blasting 90s music, and TV on the wall. Definitely one of the hidden gems of Buffalo, NY and one of the best Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to. It's located in a not so good part of town; probably wouldn't recommend coming here at night. There is plenty of parking in the Dollar General lot adjacent to it. The pho is absolutely fantastic as is almost everything else that I have tried. Definitely will come back next time I am in Buffalo. Stopped here before Mama Mia sneak preview at Kavinoky Theater. The food was excellent. We both had Pho and the broth was so good in both. One beef and one seafood. When I heard that there was a Vietnamese restaurant open in the west side, I was excited to see a new addition to Grant streets wide diversity of food and restaurants.This was my second time coming here . I had come the night before with my fiance and I must say the difference was day and night. Our first night was a very pleasant experience , the food and service was exceptional and arrived in a timely fashion , and the young gentlemen who served us was more than informative with the menu. We had asked for recommendations and ended up with two very mouth exploding dishes, and there boba tea was to die for. We could not wait to come back to try more dishes !So we had come back again for lunch today and it was dissappointiny . It's quite clear the management is lacking in staff . we waited over 30 minutes for an appetizer and kept getting the wrong order . It was overwhelming to try to take in all the items.on the menu , not to mention they were all written in Vietnamese. Only this time we were served by an older gentlemen who was just as clueless about the menu as were the cooks . We end up ordering two random dishes which we figured would be our best bet. We end up getting one dish we weren't to fond of (and still arent sure if we received what we ordered ), we would've love to had order something else , but it seemed like the staffs were a little overwelmed with the flow of customers coming in so we decided not to order. I found the restaurant pleasing enough, but the menu was lacking any vegetarian/vegan friendly dishes. When you say 'no meat' they look at you like you are from another planet. I ordered a bowl of pho and said 'no meat', assuming they would serve me the soup with the noodles and the condiments, but it came with meat. They don't get it. I asked for tofu and they said they didn't have any. They are really 'green' and it will be a long while before I consider going back. Rudeness doesn't make for keeping customers. read more

Just finished lunch at Pho Dollar. Pretty awesome! Tried the DIY pork sausage spring rolls - never had anything like this before. Fun and tasty! And then we had the Pho... This was also awesome, except we were both super full from the appetizer! Ordered a pork and egg roll vermicelli bowl. It was just OK. Even in light of the fact that it had rice instead of noodles. Not much pork and the egg roll was on the small side. The tab with a coke and tax came to $15. Kind of expensive considering the meal was at most $2 worth of ingredients. Customer service is incredible and NOT in a good way. I specifically request something be left out of my dish food allergy reasons, only to discover it in my dish after a few bites. Asked one of the waiters about it to confirm and all he said was "oh that's my bad" and walked away. I'm sorry but that's not okay as it was negligence on your part and then to be rude and just dismissed my issue and walk away! I was honestly going to just pay for it and leave. But then when I went to pay they charged me the total cost for our group when I specifically gave them the bill tickets I was paying for. They split the bill, printed out separate tickets for everyone so why would you think I would be paying for everyone? After realizing their mistake the cashier told me "well you didn't say anything" I gave you two tickets, printed and given to us by your waiter, with specific amounts that were clearly not the total. Also saying part of your staff doesn't speak English is not an excuse when you clearly seem to speak English and you were the one to take the two tickets I gave you and ring me out. AWFUL experience. I have never seen or even heard of any restaurant being so disrespectful and rude to customers, especially when it was their own fault. Will definitely not be returning read more

If you're in Buffalo then I would suggest coming to this spot instead of Pho 99. It's out of the way to be honest but it's well worth the trip. I suppose the pricing is a bit on the reasonable to overpriced; don't know if that makes sense to other people. I used to like their sandwiches but it's not as good as it used to be. They're pho and noodles are really good though, and I haven't really tried any of their rice dishes. So I would suggest stopping by this spot! read more
