We have dined twice at Ruttger's and loved the food. Our server, Dennis, was amazing! He was…read moreattentive and even made my husbands's birthday special. He's one of the best servers I've had in my dining experience, so ask for him when you go. I had the walleye tacos and my husband had the bison burger. We also got a Caesar salad and highly recommend any fries they offer- sweet potato and truffle fries were incredible- hot and crisp, just the right amount of seasoning. The kids both had cheeseburgers and everything was cooked perfect, fresh and seasoned well. (Hence we came back a second time.)

The first visit on this trip we ate outside on the deck. Great weather, great view. We ordered walleye fingers for the table, they were delicious. We also ordered the hummus plate and stuffed dill pickles. The hummus platter was great, especially if you're looking to eat something light to eat. The stuffed dill pickles were good, but not what we expected. On another day we ordered the caprese bites. They were awful. Frozen battered cheese warmed up and placed on top of a thin tomato slice and basil leaf. For entrees both days we ordered a walleye sandwich - good, walleye tacos - good, Black & bleu burger - good, Thai chillie chicken salad was ok. The service could be better. Both days our servers were frazzled, and we had to hear how overwhelmed they were. When asked a simple question earlier about seating, the restaurant manager answered very snappy. The view is great, and the food is ok.

Our in laws suggested this restaurant as it's the only white table cloth kind of joint in the area…read more They made a reservation at 5pm on a Friday. Doors opened promptly at 5pm. They have a few happy hours. Senior meal is 5pm-5:30pm and happy hour for their martinis is 5pm to 6pm where all martinis are half off. Typically they are $14 so it's a good happy hour. My in laws were able to get 3 in before happy hour was over. They deliver warm bread and provide a plate of cheese and oil to dip. For an appetizer we got the fried ravioli and it came with about 6 ravioli in a pesto sauce and with a drizzle of balsamic and chopped tomatoes on top. For dinner I opted for the Walleye. They give you a large fillet and it came with mashed potatoes and the seasonal vegetables which happened to be butternut squash and zucchini. The whole meal was delicious. They even treated my husband and father in law to a slice of cheesecake to celebrate their birthday. Throughout the meal our waitress was attentive and appreciated paying using the QR code as it helped her on a busy night.

The food is very good. I sure wish that they would add some items or change it some though. Not fair at all for customers not seated at the bar and unable to see what vodka gets poured. This wasn't an accident. They were playing the same games with the vodkas last summer.

Well, well, well, what a day it was. Been 6 years since we last visited. We figured we would give…read moreit another try and see if it has improved and boy they did not disappoint. What's different being seated was they use to have bottled hot sauces on the table which are no longer there, they don't even have them to ask for, but they do have a hotter salsa for a $2 charge. Yes it was tasty and yes it was hot but not sure I will pay $2 for it again I will just bring my bottle of hot sauce I usually carry in the car and put it in their regular salsa. Only needs more heat for us flavor was good it has cilantro but doesn't overwhelm it. The complimentary chips were warm and really thin, wonderful. We ordered enchilada platters, I ordered three cheese and was so pleasantly surprised I didn't have to cut red sauce and add queso it was already on it.. plus.. plus.. I substituted the beans for another rice and they did... the cheese enchiladas were so good and filled with a cheese blend so flavorful, the rice was presented so pretty on the plate not in the usual pile, and so very, very good, finally I can say that the rice would be like their grandma would prepare at home with love. Best plates of Mexican food we have had anywhere even from down south with the exception of Pedro's in Duluth. Hubby ordered all beef enchiladas his had queso on top as well, he said it was wonderful full of ground beef seasoned perfectly with onions and bell peppers, he had beans and rice, beans were very good, I wish I would have gotten them now too, they were not just watery goop on the plate they where actual refried chunky beans with flavor. Very friendly waiter quick to be seated, received our drinks took orders and within 15 minutes had our food, we even got drink refills without asking. I hope this is an example of how it is every day because we are excited to go back.

Their salsa was good, they didn't have hot sauce, so we ordered their spicy salsa, it was smoky and very hot, but had a great taste.
