I've been there several times in the past couple of years. It's never been super authentic food, but it's always been decent and the service has been good. Today's visit was a letdown on both fronts: service and food. The service was cold and slow, without the place being crowded as we beat the lunch rush. The food? If you like bland food that was lukewarm-to-cold, then you'd love it. I prefer food with some flavor, and I'm very sorry to say today's meals had no flavor. On top of that, the portion sizes have shrunk. I ordered a burrito and it was the size of a taco at most places. I can't see a reason to go back unless I hear things have changed. read more

Waitress was kind, but everything else was mediocre. Food was overpriced for what it was. I got the chori-chicken, and I swear to you they took the meat out of the package, and just threw it on the grill. There was no seasoning, no spice, no flavor. Just cooked meat on a plate. even the chorizo was bland, and that's an inherently spicy meat from my experience. The beans were plain watery, and the rice was soggy and flavorless. The building is too small for such a busy location, and the claustrophobic atmosphere makes it plain scary whenever they bring out food that's fully on fire. Waited forever for a table. Wait staff doesn't know how to seat or anticipate when tables will be finished. Different staff gave varying seating times. Watched as a table opened up and the table next to it was almost done, then the two parties behind us gets seated. Really?! Happened twice and would've been three times but we had to stop them. The management team should train their wait staff more efficiently on how to manage seating and communicate amongst one another. Then maybe they could manage and increase traffic flow better. Once finally seated the table were sticky and our menus stuck to the tables. Carnitas entree was very salty and disappointing. Spanish rice was bland and refries beans also salty. The carnitas street tacos for some reason were bland (weird since the entree was dripping in salt) and the soft tacos tasted like a combination of corn and flour tortillas but more floury tasting. Saving grace of our entire meal was the chips and salsa which were free. There were high hopes to like this place but poor customer service, sticky tables and the inability to cook the most basic of foods leaves little incentive to return. Just because Bemidji is a small city doesn't mean a restaurant can just cook whatever and expect people to accept it. read more

This is a little hole in the wall by KFC that we missed and drove around 4 times before finding it And glad we did! It was packed which is always a good sign for someone who's never eaten here before. And although packed, service was pretty good. Waiter was polite and got our order spot on. The complimentary chips & salsa are friggen phenomenal! I ate so much of those I was full before my order arrived. LOTS of menu choices. Hubby got the "Make your own combo" 3 choice meal which came with really good rice & beans( like CA or AZ style, not MN style lol), he chose a hard shell ground beef taco (for me) and 2 tostadas. We shared my sampler and his meal. More than enough food! We have leftovers. Not very spicy which my hubby was a little disappointed about ‍ Over all I gave it a 4/5 because it's my first time here and I have nothing to compare it to yet. OH bathrooms clean too! LOVE THAT! My husband and I went here probably a month after they opened. Servers were friendly. The place was hopping, there was surprisingly a lot of tables for a small space. We were comfortable though. The food was delicious. I had the seafood enchiladas and a margarita that was spot on! I'll be back! read more

Refried food that is microwaved. If they say 'careful it's hot' they heat the plate up or microwave it. Slop. Better off learning how to cook authentic Mexican food. read more

Another new Mexican restaurant in town, first impression very small on the inside probably not a good place to go for a large crowd or big birthday party, I would suggest call ahead for sure if over 5 people. Today was a Friday and we got there at 4:00 pm. It was a good time for today because it started filling up quick by the time we left before 5 there was already 10 people in line extending out the door. We were quickly seated with our chips That were freshly fried, and salsa which was not very chunky but had good tomato flavor with hints of cilantro, next to no heat, which is ok because I was very happy to see they had my El Yucateco Habanero red hot sauce that added great heat and extra flavor. Yummm, We ordered the Choriqueso cheese sauce (queso cheese with chorizo) appetizer, again very good, I ordered a naked tamale but came with taco meat on top, won't get the tamale again, I don't mind the fact that it was too thick because most of them up north are, my problem is that this particular one had absolutely NO seasoning in the massa, which made it very bland to were even the good amount of meat filling inside could not help it. The taco meat on top was just like you would get at taco johns (disappointing), I'm thinking this is what they put in their tacos as well. So I was not a fan. My plain cheese enchilada was typically good, I order them naked as well so I can add my queso cheese on top. My hubby, got the molcajete fiesta, this was by far the best dish of the evening, full of chicken and beef fajitas, shredded pork (carnitas) chorizo, mushrooms, squash and onions, they forgot the squash but made up for it with all the meat, hubby was very happy, they served this with a side of rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and heated flour tortillas. Rice and guacamole had little or no flavor, but then the molcajete made up for it. Waiter we had was very good, he did seem to be getting overwhelmed but pulled thru. Would it be worth a 15 person line wait, NO, I would really wait till the crowd subsides before trying. We have had better from other areas up here, but, it was good typical Mexican food. We didn't really think it was anything special, but, Will we go back? Yes of course we will, there is more to try. read more

Very authentic food. Our waiter was very good and attentive. The atmosphere has cute Mexican flags. I had a steak taco salad where the tortilla bowl was perfect and fluffy...inside was very good although a little runny. My spouse had a chimichanga which was very good. The dining room is a little small. The cheese Queso was excellent. The prices were in line with the town...very reasonable. Will return. read more

We Yelped this new option when the place we were headed was closed. Glad we did! We arrived mid-afternoon to join a few other tables of off--peak diners. Staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions. The menu is diverse. Food was served promptly and hot. Seasonings we're perfect for our Minnesotan tastes. I loved their chicken and cheese enchiladas as well as their rice. I also loved their park tamales. But the only reason I'm giving them four stars is because I disliked their ground beef. I'm not sure if it was only me because my friends seemed to enjoy it so maybe it was just my taste buds lol. But it just tasted weird to me. When we went it was around 2 o'clock and it was not busy at all we though well we will get good service. We did not, it was us and 2 other tables. I ordered a beer with our meal I would to have liked 2 but our server came maybe 3 times to bring our drinks to bring our food and then to bring the check. My son had hair in his food, my carne asada tacos were very large tough pieces of meat, not at all what I am used to. As well as being cold. The tortillas were stale. The salsa was very sweet so not our preference. I think I will skip and continue on with Mi Rancho as my Mexican restaurant of choice in the area. read more
