Quesadilla sampler after I already demolished it!

This is a little hole in the wall by KFC that we missed and drove around 4 times before finding it And glad we did! It was packed which is always a good sign for someone who's never eaten here before. And although packed, service was pretty good. Waiter was polite and got our order spot on. The complimentary chips & salsa are friggen phenomenal! I ate so much of those I was full before my order arrived. LOTS of menu choices. Hubby got the "Make your own combo" 3 choice meal which came with really good rice & beans( like CA or AZ style, not MN style lol), he chose a hard shell ground beef taco (for me) and 2 tostadas. We shared my sampler and his meal. More than enough food! We have leftovers. Not very spicy which my hubby was a little disappointed about ‍ Over all I gave it a 4/5 because it's my first time here and I have nothing to compare it to yet. OH bathrooms clean too! LOVE THAT! Prices are fair. We paid for all the above plus 2 drinks and a tip. Total $34.25 We will come back

Another new Mexican restaurant in town, first impression very small on the inside probably not a good place to go for a large crowd or big birthday party, I would suggest call ahead for sure if over 5 people. Today was a Friday and we got there at 4:00 pm. It was a good time for today because it started filling up quick by the time we left before 5 there was already 10 people in line extending out the door. We were quickly seated with our chips That were freshly fried, and salsa which was not very chunky but had good tomato flavor with hints of cilantro, next to no heat, which is ok because I was very happy to see they had my El Yucateco Habanero red hot sauce that added great heat and extra flavor. Yummm, We ordered the Choriqueso cheese sauce (queso cheese with chorizo) appetizer, again very good, I ordered a naked tamale but came with taco meat on top, won't get the tamale again, I don't mind the fact that it was too thick because most of them up north are, my problem is that this particular one had absolutely NO seasoning in the massa, which made it very bland to were even the good amount of meat filling inside could not help it. The taco meat on top was just like you would get at taco johns (disappointing), I'm thinking this is what they put in their tacos as well. So I was not a fan. My plain cheese enchilada was typically good, I order them naked as well so I can add my queso cheese on top. My hubby, got the molcajete fiesta, this was by far the best dish of the evening, full of chicken and beef fajitas, shredded pork (carnitas) chorizo, mushrooms, squash and onions, they forgot the squash but made up for it with all the meat, hubby was very happy, they served this with a side of rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and heated flour tortillas. Rice and guacamole had little or no flavor, but then the molcajete made up for it. Waiter we had was very good, he did seem to be getting overwhelmed but pulled thru. Would it be worth a 15 person line wait, NO, I would really wait till the crowd subsides before trying. We have had better from other areas up here, but, it was good typical Mexican food. We didn't really think it was anything special, but, Will we go back? Yes of course we will, there is more to try.

I loved their chicken and cheese enchiladas as well as their rice. I also loved their park tamales. But the only reason I'm giving them four stars is because I disliked their ground beef. I'm not sure if it was only me because my friends seemed to enjoy it so maybe it was just my taste buds lol. But it just tasted weird to me. Other than that their service was really great and their workers were very nice and our food came out fairly fast. Other than their ground beef I definitely recommend!

Giant margaritas, awesome cheesy bean dip and a legit tamale!

Small & easy to miss but don't sleep on this s place! Great service, great food & giant margs!

Well, well, well, what a day it was. Been 6 years since we last visited. We figured we would give…read moreit another try and see if it has improved and boy they did not disappoint. What's different being seated was they use to have bottled hot sauces on the table which are no longer there, they don't even have them to ask for, but they do have a hotter salsa for a $2 charge. Yes it was tasty and yes it was hot but not sure I will pay $2 for it again I will just bring my bottle of hot sauce I usually carry in the car and put it in their regular salsa. Only needs more heat for us flavor was good it has cilantro but doesn't overwhelm it. The complimentary chips were warm and really thin, wonderful. We ordered enchilada platters, I ordered three cheese and was so pleasantly surprised I didn't have to cut red sauce and add queso it was already on it.. plus.. plus.. I substituted the beans for another rice and they did... the cheese enchiladas were so good and filled with a cheese blend so flavorful, the rice was presented so pretty on the plate not in the usual pile, and so very, very good, finally I can say that the rice would be like their grandma would prepare at home with love. Best plates of Mexican food we have had anywhere even from down south with the exception of Pedro's in Duluth. Hubby ordered all beef enchiladas his had queso on top as well, he said it was wonderful full of ground beef seasoned perfectly with onions and bell peppers, he had beans and rice, beans were very good, I wish I would have gotten them now too, they were not just watery goop on the plate they where actual refried chunky beans with flavor. Very friendly waiter quick to be seated, received our drinks took orders and within 15 minutes had our food, we even got drink refills without asking. I hope this is an example of how it is every day because we are excited to go back.

Campaneros is a legend in the town of Dorset. If you don't know anything about Dorset, it is…read moreconsidered the restaurant capital of MN (maybe the world) because they have more restaurants per capita than many other towns. In fact, calling it even a town is a stretch. It's basically a group of restaurants and shops (and a church) that line a single road in the heart of MN cabin country. But boy, is this place hopping during cabin season. And Campaneros is one of its anchors. Campaneros is the perfect example of a quintessential MN Mexican joint. And what I mean by that is Mexican food that has been catered to softer palates and Midwest perspective. Nothing wrong with that, its just like calling Taco Bell a Mexican restaurant, it kind of is and it kind of isn't. The food is pretty good, you will find all the Midwest Texmex staples here - fajitas, seafood chimis, smothered burritos, etc. All loaded with melted cheese and refried beans and rice. Portions are belly- busting huge. You will probably have a whole extra meal to take home if you partake in the free chips and salsa. Also, margs are large and pretty strong. It's exactly what you crave when on vacation, and cabin time is a time to kick back and indulge. When I said legend, I wasn't kidding. This place has been in Dorset for a long time, ever since I can remember. It recently burned down but they built it back newer and better with recipes and heart still intact. That means the place offers a much better seating arrangement and a large, beautiful patio area. Even with more seating, expect to wait for a table as this place is busy almost all the time. Good place that has stood the test of time (and a fire and long MN winters). Next time you are in town, do yourself a favor and sample some Dorset history. Ice cream can be found next door for dessert.

There is not a lot of spice or seasoning involved and their hottest sauce is not quite as hot as Whataburger ketchup. The people here love it and it is always busy. They have a great showing at Taste of Dorset even though most of the offerings are right off the Sysco truck and into the fryer. Give it a try if you're near Dorset but bring your own hot sauce.
