The most absolutely useless restaurant with piss poor service. We drove up at 3:20PM on a Saturday when their hours claim open until 10PM on our trip through town with 3 kids who happen to love Pho. Our oldest noticed that as we pulled up, the open sign that was just blinking had the lady come up and turn it off. She sent us away saying she'll only serve take out. To see a family of five clearly struggling to get kids out of a car and even after me asking if she could possibly serve us and that we'd been on a long trip to get here, she said no. Delicious lunch entrees at Pho84. I was sad when told there was no vermicelli to be had. Thankfully the lemongrass skillet with chicken entree was delicious and assuaged my early disappointment. Being new to Amarillo I was pleasantly surprised to find pho. The broth was right, oxtail tender, and they had most of the condiments I like. I would have liked a bit more of the greens to add but that's really my only desire for what might have elevated my meal. The woman up front by challenged us for our parking and said we were blocking the room for the food delivery truck that was coming. There was no one else at the restaurant. The lot (over 55 feet) was as empty as inside. I came to this place with the notion of filling my belly with pho tai sach, (steak/tripe) as well as meatballs. She said she's sold out of steak, and doesn't serve eye of round. On a Tuesday you're out of steak? No grocers in all of Amarillo has steak available? Though the atmosphere does not scream hipster or trendsetter, you can tell still, just by walking in that they are regularly teeming with avid and well experienced customers of Vietnamese fare solely based on being sold out of steak the second day of the week, and all sriracha bottles being empty already! Her place must be jumping daily! We came in around 12:45. Located on the back of the menu is boba tea option, but she became argumentative when she told me they have no boba flavors, this isn't a boba store. I opted for the only thing she offers, a brown sugar tea with jelly. Instead of leaving I perused the 6 page menu & settled on pho bo sach as they were sold out of every cut of steak, for pho tai. My dinner guest ordered a sizzling chicken dish that boasted a generous portion of their sautéed vegetables. Upon my pho arriving, I garnished it with the teeny portion of bean sprouts that weren't rotted and slimy. The temperature of the soup was cold even before added sprouts. The meat balls were tough and had an over-firm bite. The broth had a great clarity. The presence of cinnamon notes was very prominent. The subtlety of other ingredients was profoundly minuscule. At the end of my dining experience I ordered cha gio (Fried spring rolls) to go. I didn't finish my food. I requested a container for my broth. The girl at the front huffed and puffed and gave me a glare. Angry over a customer request that paid over $45 to eat! The man in the back felt so sorry for us, he prepared 3 crispy egg rolls for me to take on the road en route to Fort Hood! At least something nice came out of stopping here. read more

Mind you, they already have a posted sign on their door that their business will be closed from 6/26/24-7/14/24. It's 4 days prior, on a Saturday, in Amarillo.. You would think that a small business would be keen to get as much good out before taking off for such a long period of time, at the beginning of the summer no less. To the owners of this establishment: I hope you better train your staff regarding etiquette and service standards, and I pray for you that you even have a business to return to, considering your many other reviews. It appears in Amarillo, there's not many Vietnamese restaurants there. I was here for a few days on business travel, I got tired of the fast food quick. I've noticed restaurants here open up a little bit later than normal restaurant was open at 11 o'clock. I ordered the pho with New York's steak and meatballs. I would say this is some of the best broths I've tasted in a long time. The broth was very clear, very aromatic and flavorful. I can tell they used bones with marrow as some of the liquified marrow was floating in the broth (excellent, rare to see). and This restaurant opted to use sliced red onions rather than white onions, gives it visual appeal. Service was excellent. She came back and checked on me several times and gave me recommendations of places to visit in the area. Pho 84 is also an Asian Fusion restaurant with other Asian inspired flavors. If they executed Pho well, the other dishes should be that good as well. read more

The attitude of the people in this restaurant is very bad. I ordered a cup of bubble tea, and there was a black spot in the cup. I used a straw to get it up and it was a bug. I called the owner and explained everything to him. She asked what do i want. There were also a lot of these bugs flying around our plates during our meal. read more

I've been to this establishment a half-dozen times but the service seems to be getting slower. The food is OK, I do like their pho and fried egg rolls. But there has lately been only one person doing everything: greeting, order-taking, food serving, register work. It makes for a very awkward experience, especially as you might be asked to wait, and then when the person is in the kitchen, someone else comes in and seats themselves while you are standing around at the register. The Pho was fantastic! I was so glad I came here for dinner. I don't usually eat out twice in one-day to save money but when I Googled the place after not finding it on a Yelp search (it's new and their name is Pho84 so it didn't show up under just pho) it looked like it had no photos and no reviews (I guess the one from yesterday hadn't shown up yet) so I couldn't resist checking it out. Plus my lunch was wearing off. The first thing that impressed me when I walked in was the wonderful Aroma wafting through the air. It smelled like good food. The second thing that impressed me was how friendly the owner was. It's always nice to feel welcomed in a business you are patronizing. The third thing that impressed me was that she brought chopsticks with the fork and napkin without my having to ask for them. I always forget to ask until after my food arrives and then I have to sit there and wait for someone to notice that I'm trying to get their attention so I can ask for some. It was nice to have them just be there. I was debating between beef and chicken and she encouraged me to try the beef. Boy was I glad. My main concern was when I have had brisket and other kinds of beef in my Pho in the past it seems like it's always quite tough and even grisly. And that's at places where I love their Pho. The beef slices in this bowl, and there was a generous portion of them, were extremely tender and flavorful. The broth was delicious, the bowl was huge, the noodles were plentiful, the bean sprouts were crispy and fresh as was the basil. Everything was delicious. I want to go back there and try other items from their menu. The place also appeared extremely clean and the service was excellent. The only reason I can't give them 5 Stars was that from where I was sitting I suddenly saw the lady set something on the floor back in the kitchen area and start hacking away at it. I realized that it was the Coconuts that the people at another table had been drinking their coconut drink from. They must have wanted to eat the coconut. I was a bit taken aback when I saw the split coconuts lifted off the floor and set on a plate and then delivered to the customers without further ado. Even though they were not eating the rind around the outside, they still had to touch it to lift it up and eat it like a watermelon slice and all I could think of was that their fingers were touching floor dirt. I understand the floor was probably kept very clean but still, it couldn't be germ-free, just from people walking on it. They need to get themselves a good sturdy cutting board to put on a counter instead. 5/14/18 went back tonight and had another good experience. The people are so pleasant. I had wanted to try one of their sandwiches and they weren't very expensive so I decided to get an appetizer to go with it. The spring rolls with shrimp and pork we're absolutely delicious. So let us was so fresh and crispy it was like they just picked it out of a garden. There were two good-size ones, cut in half making four pieces. The sauce that came with it, hoisin sauce? Was also extremely good. I got the half sandwich for $5.50 and was expecting something about two-thirds as big as what I got. I couldn't even finish the whole thing. It was on a wonderfully fresh and soft baguette. I got the chopped beef version which came with a few fresh vegetables on the side of the sandwich but inside the bread. It was a wonderful mixture of sweet and savory, the vegetables providing a mild sweet and sour touch probably from addressing they were in and the meat with onions balancing that off with the savory aspect. I definitely recommend both the spring rolls and the sandwich. Unfortunately, I had left my phone at home when I left to run my errands so I couldn't post any pictures from the strip but I can tell you that the presentation was beautiful. It was my fault. A friend talked about this place. So I got the name... I should have asked about what to order! I had no idea and neither did my party. It is authentic food not Asia fast food. The facility was clean! And tables look new! OUR fault! We should have inquired prior to going! The friendly lady waiting on us spoke no English! I found the place to be a bit too pricey for what is compared going to a Vietnamese community. I love Pho. I travel a lot and eat it every time I get a chance. This was my second visit to PHO 84 on 34th St in Amarillo, Tx. The first time I visited I ordered their chicken appetizer and a bowl of Pho ( Pha) The taste was wonderful on both items but I had to get a salt grinder from another table because mine was empty. No big deal. This time, I took a guest with me. We ordered the largest bowl of Pho that they offer (About $12.00) When ordered I told the waitress twice I wanted to split it. She didn't understand and did not bring a second bowl until I asked two more times after the food arrived. I also asked for large serving spoon so I can get it out of the bowl. She brought me a table spoon. I asked again; she went and got the man from the kitchen. I repeated my request and made a point to ask for something I could get the noodles and the broth out. On his third arrival I asked for a ladle . Apparently they didn't understand my request or did not want to encourage splitting a dish/bowl. My dinner guest started her bowl While I added the side ingredients to mine. Again my salt grinder was empty. ( they move these constantly while cleaning the tables) So I asked the waitress for another salt grinder. She handed it to me, I had it turned upside down so I could take the cap off at the bottom to grind my desired amount. When I did this a previous customer had filled up the grinder completely full of salt unbeknownst to me and it went into my food and onto my placemat.(I was stunned) I told the waitress, who's full grown what Happened and she just stared at me. I asked her for a half of a bowl of soup to replace the one I could not eat because it had so much rock salt in it and on my placemat, she looked dumbfounded. I repeated the request nicely it was starting to get agitated. She said no. It was not her fault. I said "I cannot eat the soup this way. You Handed me a salt grinder, your customer Filled up the reservoir to do this on purpose to somebody. It is not my fault". She said it is not her fault. I repeated that I would like a half a bowl of soup when she asked me "so you want another bowl of soup?" I could tell already that she wanted to charge me; I made it clear I was not going to pay her for a half a bowl of soup separate from my bill already existing. She brought me back a small bowl about 2 oz.that you see in the picture. Astonished at her lack of American ways to serve this situation better; I told her that was not going to work. Repeating I wanted to have a bowl of soup please. She went to the kitchen to go get a man that was in there. He came out repeated that it was not their fault and that the small bowl was it would be replacing my request for half a bowl of soup. I've been pointed out that the way American restaurants do this would be to replace the 1/2 a bowl of soup for the customer. Yes I know it was not customary to do this but we were having a definite cultural clash. And since I was a repeat customer And totally felt that asking for a new half bowl of soup was more than appropriate at no charge I brought it up. He told me he understood how American restaurants do it but it was not his fault. So I asked my guest if she was ready to go? She confirmed. I looked up the restaurant person who is acting like an owner and told him that is fine that we would leave and I was not going to pay for anything at the table. I've been also added that they are a new business in town and that I would put this on my Facebook and on YELP. That it would be better advertisement if you gave me the 1/2 bowl of soup. He immediately told me to post it on my Facebook and he would respond. I told him that was his right and that he SHOULD do that. We left. Bummer, I was excited to have this special soup available closer to my house, Then to drive across town to get it. This is a great little place! The atmosphere is quiet and comforting. It's very clean, also. I had the Thai tea and it was perfect. I ordered the gyoza as an appetizer. The sauce it was topped with was delicious. I recommend the pho, of course. I really like how they served the toppings on the side. We started with a friendly welcome seated immediately, in this very small restaurant. We were lucky to get a seat. With all the foot traffic that was picking up to go orders, it was soooo busy. We ordered spring roll and they were so yummy, that sauce was to die for My husband ordered the chicken chow mein, he loved it! I had the roll with baked scallops on it. I never had a warm roll befor it was so weird at first but the flavor won over and I devoured the whole thing. Their eel sauce...
