It's been 6 years since my first visit to Pho 71 on N Elm St in Broken Arrow. Much time has passed, but the experience remains the same. I love the fresh spring rolls at Pho 71. They were absolutely delicious. On the other hand, the Vietnamese pho left a lot to be desired. The broth was the most flavorful and rich of all the broths. However, I got a sodium head rush just like I did 6 years ago, maybe too much MSG and salt? I liked the textures of the pho noodles very much and the vegetables plate was great. The lady server was friendly. The restaurant itself is small and it wasn't too busy. I loved the pho at this restaurant, I just didn't like the head rush. read more

Today's foray to Broken Arrow took me to Pho 71 on Elm. Don't know if it was the cooler temps or what, but I was in the mood for something hot and soupy. TLDR: Good pho, nice people, priced right. Located in a strip mall along with several other eateries, Pho 71 is small, cozy and homey. I arrived around noon and was seated immediately. I'd kinda checked out the menu, so I pretty much had my mind made up, which helped speed the process a bit. I went with the medium pho with brisket and meatballs, and a order of 2 fried seafood spring rolls. In looking at the menu online, I only got to see the pho portion. There's a whole 'nother page with noodle and fried rice dishes, and a lot of them looked really appetizing.... so those are for another trip. My food arrived pretty quickly, and after giving it a minute to cool down while I tore up the basil and cilantro, I plowed into it. The broth is subtle and layered. Not at all perfumey like some places tend to be. There were plenty of noodles in the bowl, along with generous amounts of meat. They didn't skimp on the Thai Basil either. I love the stuff, but there was too much even for me. Bean sprouts, cilantro and a single slice of jalapeno was also presented. Personally, I would have liked to see a few more pepper slices and some sweet onion slices like my local Pho joint does, but it in no way detracted from the dish. The spring rolls were properly done, with generous amounts of seafood inside, and cooked to a perfect golden brown. I'm glad I went with the medium instead of a large, because I don't think I could have eaten a large, and that's saying a lot. Price was just over $19 before a tip, and for what I got, I consider that pretty reasonable. read more

Ordered vegetable pho and veggie spring rolls Togo on a chilly night. Big portions even for take home! You received a container full of broth and a Togo box with all the mixins. They even provided packets of hoisin and siracha. Ordered over the phone and it was ready in 15 min! They didn't have veggie spring rolls on the menu but accommodated the request and told us what they could include which was sweet. I'd be back! read more

Sadly this was our favorite place a few years ago... it has become unbearable to even attempt eating here any more. The main lady (I think her name is Tran) who owns / serves the place has a terrible attitude and acts upset and put out every single time we come in. We are always rushed and seems like she is annoyed at us. The place has also struggled with their sewage system on and off and it's a 50% chance that when you walk in it's going to smell like poop. The pho and food tastes good, but they are unkind and struggle to maintain consistency for cleanliness, menu items availability, sewage system problems. The worker in the back cooking is also usually hacking up a lung coughing. There are plenty of other pho restaurants locally that offer pho that tastes just as good in a clean environment with people that are happy and willing to serve you and take your money. Great little family owned Vietnamese restaurant in Broken Arrow! The service is great, very friendly staff always all smile and ready to help you. It's hard to find good pho in Tulsa, unfortunately we don't have very good options compared to OKC but Pho 71 is pretty good, likely one of the better pho available in the Tulsa area. The broth tastes good and the sides seem fresh. The Vietnamese coffee is probably made in advance because it comes out so quickly compared to other restaurants but I think it tastes good no big difference with most of the other places around town. I mostly come for the Pho so I can't say much about the rice plates. The egg rolls and spring rolls are pretty good and the spring roll is stuffed with decent portion of shrimp. Overall a top place to get pho in the Tulsa area and we will definitely be back! read more

Another option for average Vietnamese food in BA This is a very small and busy restaurant located in a strip mall at the corner of Kenosha and Elm. I have to admit that Vietnamese food is not my favorite. I struggle with the taste of the fish sauce and can't figure out what is so exciting about a bowl of Pho. I have tried to focus on one dish Bun Bo Hue in order to have some basis for comparison between Vietnamese restaurants. My wife likes the vermicelli bowls and the fish sauce. She has a good foundation for her comparison of this particular dish. Let's start with the appetizers "Spring Rolls with Grilled Pork." Our order was delivered to the diner siting at the table next to us. After a few minutes and after the diner had taken a couple of bites of one of them, the waitress realized she had served the wrong table. She delivered his order of tofu spring rolls and took the partially eaten and full pork spring roll back to the kitchen. A few minutes later she brought out our order of pork spring rolls. Only God and the Kitchen staff know what really happened in the kitchen. Well, they were still good. My wife liked her Bun Tom Nuong Cha Gio. This was a vermicelli noodles, vegetables, grilled shrimp and spring rolls, and of course the fish sauce. The grilled shrimp was really good! Today's special just happened to be Bun Bo Hue. Their version was nothing more than a noodle and beef brisket soup with chili sauce added. The only meat in it was the beef brisket. The soup was just not what you expect to get with Bun Bo Hue. It did have some of the classic vegetables on the side (basil, cilantro, a couple of jalapeno slices, and a slice of lime and bean sprouts.) It tasted Ok, but was a boring bowl of soup. No complex flavors from lemon grass and other seasonings. Average food, average service, clean, very busy at noon, does a lot of takeout business. read more

Been to Pho 71 in the past and it's been great. However, when I looked online to see what time they closed, it stayed 8 PM. I called around 7:20p to place a pick up order, but no one answered the phone (ignored). So instead, I sent my husband to the actual location to order assuming that it might've been busy, just to be told that they shut their kitchen down at 7 o'clock. Again, great place, however they need to honor the 4 PM to 8 PM time. If they can't due to lack of business, then it needs to be corrected from 4 PM to 7 PM. read more

This place makes the best pho broth in Oklahoma. I often find pho at many restaurants too sweet but this one is savory and beefy. A good pho broth is aromatic, slightly sweet and packed with umami lasers shooting at your taste buds. This place has all of those elements. You can add sugar if you prefer a sweeter pho but you can't add umami to a pho broth. Pho 71 has a broth(atleast today) that makes you want to eat more and more of it. I got the small special combination pho and grilled pork bahn mi. The noodles and beef in the soup is standard. Nothing outstanding but still pretty good. The special beef pho has several cuts of meat for the adventurous eater. Beef meatball, sliced raw beef and tripe. The veggies that came with the pho was abundant and more than enough for the pho. The Grilled Pork bahn mi was okay. I really love their fresh baguette and it crackles upon sinking your teeth into it. A really solid baguette but the grilled pork was a little dry. However, Sriracha fixes that problem nicely. I got the chicken bahn mi to go and swiped a chicken piece to try and it was pretty standard. There was nothing to really complain about. Overall, 5 stars for the SPECTACULAR beef broth!!! Service was pretty good too. Pho 71 is now my favorite joint for Beef Pho. read more

This is my go to pho place in broken Arrow. Who would have thought this tiny location in a strip mall would be so yummy?! It's not that fancy to look at, but no one here goes because of the atmosphere. They go because of the amazing food. Pho 71 is fast, affordable, and have excellent portions. When I go to a place like this, I never think about getting anything else. However, my kids love the chicken fried rice from here. I didn't go there today with my kids, but heads up in case you have kids and want something general for them to eat. You can't go wrong. I, on the other hand, always order spring rolls (get extra peanut sauce - you'll thank me!) and chicken pho. I ask for extra basil and add a hefty portion of chili oil to my soup. We also ordered their wontons. For $2.99, it was a great appetizer since we were both so hungry. My friend got the p4 (ground steak, flank, and brisket). She couldn't get over how good the soup smelled and tasted! There's nothing better than a hot bowl of flavorful pho on a freezing day. The service is always nice here. The lady who served us today and the young man who assisted her could not be any nicer. And they were both very attentive to our needs. Definitely check this place out. This Pho restaurant is as REAL as it gets for me here around the surrounding areas of Broken Arrow, OK. The owner is always a nice lady that gives 100% to make sure her customers are satisfied with their order. The entrees are very authentic just as I enjoyed back in Houston. The beef broth is amazing every single time we come here, and that is what makes a real bowl of pho! The vegetables (beansprouts, cilantro, mint leaves, fresh sliced jalapeños) which come along on the side of the pho is always fresh and are never skimpy. The fresh coconut juice and thai tea is tasty & refreshing. I like that I can order my family & I food and not have to wait more that 5-10 mins to bring it out. Their vietnamese fried egg rolls are amazing & take me back in time to the days my mom was still alive and would make dozens of those same tasting egg rolls for the family. Wife had the spicy stir fry lemongrass beef with steam rice. That was really flavorful and tender, highly recommend. I had the pho P4 medium bowl, them XL bowls are massive and could feed 2-3 people. The crab wontons are the best! I love the steak pho. It is very tasty and nutritious. I also love the side of fried rice. The only drawback here are the lack of hours. It seems when we want to eat here they're closed. They are not open on Tuesdays or Saturdays and they take an hour off between lunch and dinner rush. But other than that the food is excellent! We have been meaning to try this restaurant "pho-ever"! (pauses for uproarious laughter). We finally got around to the task. It was a cold winter night, and Pho sounded like the best idea since heated seats. Upon entering the restaurant we were quickly greeted and grabbed a seat. The waiter was very quick and efficient. We had an idea of what we wanted to eat, so we had our order in and within minutes crispy, piping hot crab rangoons were at our table for an appetizer. They look pretty standard as far as crab rangoons go, but to me, they had a much fresher and crispier quality to them than you get at most places. They were lightly fried and served with a sweet sauce. For the entree, i went in for the brisket and flank steak pho, medium size. The small size probably would have been plenty for me, but I like to take some extra home for the next day. Again, the food arrived very promptly, and with the pho you get a plate of cilantro, basil, fresh jalapeno and bean sprouts to place in your pho and flavor it how you like. I love all of those items, so into they bowl the went. That being said, the pho has a great flavor all on its own. The meat was very tender and melted in your mouth. Not much more I can say other than, if you're "thinking" about trying this place, just do it! Go ASAP and enjoy. We're so fortunate to have the culinary diversity that we do in Broken Arrow, and I would gladly support a restaurant like this over a chain place any day.
