I ordered the Pho with steak and brisket and the shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls were light and flavorful with a touch of cilantro to brighten each bite. The peanut dipping sauce was wonderful with just a bit left over. The Pho was just the right size. I ordered Medium with chicken broth. The accoutrements... onion, cilantro, jalapeños, bean sprouts, rice noodles, and lime wedges allowed me to customize my experience. Pho Da Cao on E 31st St in Tulsa, OK is the most non-traditional pho restaurant in the area. Customers order and pre-pay at the counter before dining in. The restaurant operates similar to fast food chain. Hot tea was served in a to-go cup and not in a traditional tea pot. The pho vegetables plate was small with lemons instead of limes, unlike most other Vietnamese restaurants. The pho broth was sugary sweet. The broth was clear without any hint of grease. For a broth made by simmering beef bones, I would expect some grease inside. The noodles had good texture and the spring rolls were great. For casual diners, Pho Da Cao may be good choice. There is plenty of parking in the shared plaza. The interior is fairly big with lots of tables and seating when picking up to go orders. It was definitely busy on a Saturday night. This is my husband's favorite Vietnamese restaurant here in Tulsa. And I know three years ago I wrote them a review and I said that their service was terrible. Believe it or not it has only gotten worse in the past three years. They have a hard time keeping staff and the people they've been hiring recently have not been very familiar with the menu or understood anything I order. It's a very limited menu. I honestly don't know where to start... this is not traditional pho in any way. I eat pho 3-5 days a week, we even make our own broth and traditional pho at home. We have eaten pho in every city we travel to. The chicken was some sort of breaded Chinese style that obviously came from a frozen bag, it wasn't appetizing to look at and even worse when eating. My wife ordered Tofu and her first bite was followed with, " this tastes like it has been in a freezer for years!" The soy looked like it had sat on the table to many years and was crusted over. I wished we'd walked out before eating. We both ate 3 bites and felt sick to our stomach immediately. Paid for something we couldn't even eat. I looked for a website or email and didn't find one but this place really needs a ton of work to be up to standard for cleanliness and appetite. Won't even get started on the restroom condition. Nabbed a combo vermicelli dinner and let me tell you this did not disappoint. The meat was tender and had the best flavor, exactly what I was expecting. The noodles werent bad but I needed a honey water dipping sauce or something to kick them up a notch. The rolls were the next best hit and as always veggies were very fresh. We got this to go and we're quickly greeted and paid and within a minute was ready. Going to have to come back and try something else on the menu wide nabbed a sesame chicken but said it was just ok. This place is cleaner than I remember it being, though I'll admit it's been a bit since I've come here. It seemed like all of the tables were kept clean, so that's always a good thing. There is plenty of seating here too. Most tables can seat about 4-6 people. There's also a separate room/ area with more tables that could be good for bigger groups. So they have more than pho here, but honestly I've never ordered anything but the chicken pho before, but I've also had the summer rolls as appetizers too. The summer rolls are pretty standard with shrimp, noodles, and some greens. They come with two per order and are served cold (but not too cold). They also come with peanut sauce. Their peanut sauce doesn't have any spiciness to it, at least not to me, so it's kind of a pure nutty flavor. Though I love spicy food, I still enjoyed the sauce! Like almost everywhere, the pho comes with a variety of add-ins. They had cilantro, basil (I think??), bean sprouts, fresh slices of jalapeño, and lime wedges. I'm particularly a fan that they give the jalapeños!!! It's pretty normal but also I don't feel like everywhere gives them either. Same with the limes. Also on the table to add to your pho are some different sauces like sriracha, soy sauce, and some other stuff I can't remember but nothing out of the ordinary. The broth I felt like was sweeter than most places I've been at least recently. At first I wasn't sure how I felt, but my tastebuds adjusted by the first few bites so once I was expecting the slightly sweeter broth it was good. I even held off on adding sriracha until well into my meal, and normally I add this very early on! I think it also helped that some of the herbs/ spices I added made it a little more savory. The broth comes in medium and large sizes. The medium size is plenty... and as a whole the meal is very filling! I never even finish all of that, and usually have leftovers. I have eaten at Phō Da Cao for a long time. This is my second time coming back since after they were closed due to covid. I have to say that this place is NOT the same. The Broth is no longer good and they don't give you alot of vegetables to eat with the phō like they used to. It seems as though they sold this restaurant to someone else as I don't see the same Asian lady's that used to always greet me . The only thing that's still ok is the spring rolls. There was no signs posted or anything so how would we know? I ordered two plates of food for myself and he had the audacity to asked if I was going to be able to eat it all myself? Really? I came here and got fried rice which was probably my first mistake. It was ok, the rice was pretty clumpy and chunky. The flavors were sort of mild, and I added a ton of chili sauce to try and spice it up haha. I would not recommend the fried rice ( think you can get better elsewhere). I don't get all the great reviews, maybe I'm spoiled for living in CA with Pho places everywhere. I came on a Monday around 2pm. When I walked in, there was a heavy sent of Lysol. Honestly, I don't want to smell Lysol when I walk into a Pho restaurant, I want to smell anise. I got seated right away from a girl with major attitude. The way she was speaking to felt like I should be honored to be in her restaurant. WTH??!! I ordered the following: Summer Rolls ($3): It has shrimp, lettuce and rice paper. It was missing the mint and bean sprouts. However, the dipping sauce was good. Bun Bo Hue ($9): It had Beef Shank and Pork Loaf. If you're going to list the ingredients, you need to list it right. This soup DID NOT have Beef Shank, instead it was fatty brisket. Also the soup did not have Pork Loaf, actually, I have no ideal what it was. It was a hard, spongey flavorless something. It appears to be a small family (minimal staff) run operations so, I would expect the wait time to increase and service to slow down during peak hours. We visited midafternoon. Tasty! If you want the best vermicelli bowl in Tulsa, Pho Da Cao is the place! They give you a generous portion and the flavors are strong but bomb! I got the special combination Vermicelli bowl and it had noodles as the base, topped with pork, beef, shrimp, cilantro, picked daikon, pickled carrots, cucumber, lettuce and then dressed with a sweet fish sauce. All of this perfectly work in a flavorful melody. The service was okay. I felt like I was rushed when ordering food and in the rush of things, they got my to-go order wrong. She didn't let me finish ordering and said "Okay" immediately after I made a order request then slowly walked away from my table when I wasn't done ordering. I believe this is the best pho restaurant in Tulsa but I've had a lot of family and friends argue with me on this but my decision still stands. They are always consistent with the service and food. This visit, we waited not even 5 minutes to receive our order after placing it. Talk about fast service! I love the pho here but what I also love is the clear noodle option! This is the only Vietnamese restaurant that has this option and it's my favorite. This is why Pho Da cao will always be my go to for pho and clear noodles. We found this place of course on Yelp. Just finished a movie and needed Pho.. real food after popcorn ! We had one order of spring rolls. Good but peanut sauce was very sweet and a bit runny ( he dripped on his shirt lol) Hubby had Pho P7 and the broth is to die for. We always taste before the fixings. It was superb. I had vermicelli salad V7 with everything. Now the egg rolls were quite tasty, beef, chicken and pork in there was equally good. The fish sauce I thought was a bit on the sweet side but I ate it all!! Lol. Hubby decided to get a boba togo, Mango. It is not blended tho. And it is realllly sweet too! I've had Pho for the first time months ago & this time around, I gotta recommendation for this place. A friend stated that Pho is good for hangovers (), so I went ahead & made a visit to this place. I had a really bad headache & this helped out a lot. I got the shrimp Pho. I think on the menu, it was P7 (their selections are numbered). The only thing that was a downfall, they were kinda stingy with the shrimp. Outside of the that, the fixings & broth made it fulfilling. I always add Sriracha. They also had a sauce that I can't remember the name for nothing, but it's spicy with red pepper flakes & paste-like texture. The service was good. Greeted once I walked through the door. So there are two Pho restaurants near us, and this one is my preferred pho-cation. Smaller main dining area but this place can handle larger groups. There's a huge, back-lit picture of the Great Wall (I believe) on one side of the dining area and large windows across the front. Very welcoming space with no frills, a few plants and friendly staff. Several orders were to-go while we were dining, yet we were joined by four other tables. Clientele ranged across all backgrounds while we were there, which is refreshing. Tonight I ordered taro boba tea (a gift-to-me) and my husband had iced tea (which he liked, as a picky iced tea drinker). We started with the Chinese egg rolls, served piping hot. My husband wanted to keep the dipping sauce he liked it that much. I'm a HUGE fan of their spring rolls, too. I really like the play of textures with the wrapper, the veggies, and the shrimp. I ordered the pho dac biet (cannot do the necessary accents, sorry) P7 which came with ALL the yummies: eye round area, brisket, meatball, soft tendon, & tripe. The garnish plate was full of bean sprouts, fresh basil , fresh sliced peppers, lemon , and cilantro. (Usually I have lime when I get pho somewhere, so the lemon was a refreshing change.) The large portion was too much for me to consume at one sitting, so I was able to bring home a lunch-worthy amount for tomorrow. Score! Ron had Stir fry shrimp w/ Blk bean sauce. He kept saying how good their rice was, and he really liked the accompanying cucumber salad, too. The shrimp were plump and flavorful (he insisted I try one, so who am I to protest!? ) He very well May have found his go-to entrée.
