I came here upon a recommendation of a friend, who frequents here often. This restaurant is like any traditional Vietnamese restaurant, with a wide variety of items like pho, vermicelli, rice plates and drinks. Menu items are associated with letters/numbers, in which Ali Wong has said that is an indicator of being a legitimate Vietnamese restaurant. On each table, there are condiments, soup spoons, chopsticks and napkins ready to be used. The space is very large and clean. It felt like coming to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant back home in California. I would have went with the classics, but I went with the shaken beef garlic noodle special that is not on the menu officially just yet but I have found out about through their IG feed. What I liked about their version is that the noodles were made well and had a slight crisp to it. The garlic flavor was strong, which I liked. Also, the shaken beef came in a pretty large portion, which I appreciated. Looking at the bowl, the portion may be deceiving because there is a good amount of bean sprouts underneath the noodles and beef. However, I liked having the bean sprouts but I kind of wished there were more noodles and beef instead, haha. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. My daughter and I met our cousin here for lunch. The place looked like it recently opened. Service was a little slow and I wished they had a door that leads to their kitchen. All of their conversations carried into the dining area which was quite annoying because it felt like we waited forever to get their attention for simple requests. When the food arrive, we couldn't wait to dive in. First the broth - it was really good. Soup was perfect temperature and tasted wonderful. Just what I needed since I was getting cranky, lol. I ordered a large bowl of pho and notice there was not enough meat or noodles. My daughter said the same. At this point, I just hurried up and ate and figured we can go get dessert somewhere else. Though the recent addition of restaurants to Murphy is always welcome, Pho 544 is underwhelming in it's execution. We tried the pork pastry to start, which was decent but arrived at room temperature so that the flaky, buttery crust was subdued. The service was decent, nothing exceptional. The shrimp and pork vermicelli bowl was pretty but fairly bland in taste and the vermicelli themselves left much to be desired, needing a drench from hoison and sriracha. The meatball pho wasn't very flavorful, and was mostly rice noodle (to be expected, but this feels redundant with Pho Street being less than a mile away). Probably my favorite place for Vietnamese food in the Dallas area! Im Vietnamese and I definitely know my food. Everything I tried had that "homey" taste that reminded me of my mom and grandma's cooking. Pho was excellent. Broth was rich and hearty, noodles were cooked perfectly with plenty of meat. Egg rolls were crispy and not greasy with a meaty filling. They were really hot so I appreciate that they were cooked to order. My favorite dish would probably be the shaking beef! Pho is legit. Bo luc lac with the fried egg on point!!! Had to admit, I did not have high hopes for a pho spot in Murphy but boy was I wrong. Pho was actually good!! They gave me some juicy fatty pieces of brisket (my faves!!), plenty 'o meatballs and raw eye round. I specifically asked for the raw meat on the side because I like to put limes, jalapeños, Siracha and hoisin sauce and eat it raw with my pho. They delivered on this request no questions asked with a generous helping of it! YUMMO!! When I ask for this at other places, most of the waiters and waitresses are perplexed. These guys knew exactly what I was talking about. Love it! Bo luc lac stole the show! I never get his dish but when I saw fried egg on the side I had to do it for the Gram. We frequent this place often as it is very difficult to find a good pho restaurant. If you're Asian, then you know what I'm talking about. The last couple of times was very disappointing, but today is the day that I've decided will be the last time my family and I will be dining here. They handed my 3 year old nephew a dirty bowl, the spoons were even dirty. We didn't make it a big deal but still wiped it down with water and a napkin. After a couple of sips of my drink, I felt it necessary to examine my cup as well because of how unsanitary this place has become, and noticed the inside of it had an unidentified residue around the rim. I alerted the lady who brought out our food and voiced my concerns rather than causing a scene in front of other customers who were already eating. I explained everything that she had given us was filthy and dirty, down to the canned drinks that we also had to clean before pouring it into a cup. She proceeded to "fix" the issue by replacing my drink but still handed me a new canned soda with pieces of dirt and crumbs on top. I looked at her like "Are you serious?!" I know it's not a language barrier when I'm visually showing her the dirty cup. Do your staff not check the dishes or utensils before putting it out for customers?! Very disturbing and I needed to see this for me to warn other diners to drive pass, and do not think twice to eat here. Please go else where. read more

Ever since I've moved to Dallas I've been searching for a good bowl of pho. Thankfully I found a place to satisfy my cravings! We've ordered the dry pho, the shaken beef garlic noodles (btw not on the menu), shaken beef fries, a large pho, and two Vietnamese coffee Pros: - the Pho is southern style so the broth is savory and more richer then northern pho - there are lots of vegetables to balance out the dish. There's cabbage and bean sprouts under the garlic noodles and the dry pho - the shaken beef is very flavorful and tender - the French fries are very crispy and complimented the beef Cons: - maybe it's just me but I felt that both the pho's had WAY too much noodles -the fries is kinda a time sensitive food, if left out too long it absorbs the oil and is kinda gross Overall, the cooking here gives me a very nostalgic vibe and I will return to try the other menu items. read more

From looking at their posts of their dishes on IG, I was excited to try them out driving about 40 mins to get there. However I must admit I wasn't too impressed to be brutally honest. I had the expensive beef and lobster dish which was really dry noodles, no sauce. However they had some really great sauce on an appetizer I had that I recommended to the chef to put that sauce on this dish to make it more appetizing. I have to deduct points for that. Everything else was about average on flavor profiles. When left I didn't get that burning sensation to come back that you normally get when a restaurant's flavor profiles woo you. I hate to mention this but I had to walk to the counter to get water after asking for a refill repeatedly and I never got the sauce I asked for to enhance the flavor of the star dish. To his defense, the owner was real welcoming and served with a smile, which is a plus but not enough to retain customers. At the end of the day, whatever comes out on the plate HAS to be good. If this place is serious about their customers, if they address these issues, I may consider coming back. I had been waiting for this place to open for awhile because it is right by my house, so I wouldn't have to go far for my pho fix. I have been here twice. The first time was grand opening day then i came back a week later. Both times I came with my boyfriend. The first time we both got pho. I got a small beef meatball pho and my boyfriend got the pho with steak and brisket. I definitely enjoyed the pho. The broth was flavorful and delicious. And the meatballs did not taste like rubber like some restaurants which I appreciated. My boyfriend enjoyed his pho but the brisket had a good amount of fat on it which he didn't like. The second time we came I got the rice plate with grilled pork and shrimp and my boyfriend jyst got the pho with steak. My boyfriend's pho only had like 3 pieces of small steak in it so the meat to noodle ratio was a bit off. The shrimp on my rice dish was undercooked and almost raw so I had to request for shrimp that was cooked. I overall enjoyed my rice dish but there were definitely some kinks that need to be fixed. This place is fairly new and they are still working out all the issues. The owner was doing whatever he could to help make the customers happy and fix any mistakes so I give this place a 100 for service and effort. Wow... I was driving through Murphy and noticed there was a Pho restaurant that we saw off the street. So, we walked in with extremely low expectations, but to our surprise the food and flavors were all extremely authentic! The service was on point and the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. We ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien and the Shaken Beef. The Pho broth was so clean and rich. I was not expecting to have this kind of broth out here, but they found a need for the city and fulfilled it and raised the bar on authentic Vietnamese food. The shaken beef (bo luc lac) was super tender and flavorful! Pro tip, make sure you order a fried egg! This tasted just like how my family would make it at home and it hit the spot. I placed a to-go order for a large chicken (white meat) pho, add veggies, and an order of spring rolls. I received the equivalent of most restaurants' small bowl. Sliced chicken breast, unflavored, and a small amount of noodles in the container with some onions. No veggies. The flavor of the broth was ok, a little heavy on the lemongrass, but since the chicken was basically boiled dry, it didn't help much. The spring rolls contained unflavored pork and shrimp and came with the palest peanut sauce I've ever seen. It was actually more flavorful than I expected with its coloring. But the pork was just as dry as the chicken. Edit: To clarify, I liked the peanut sauce. I was surprised at how light in color it was and the fact that it was warm, but it grew on me and was probably my favorite thing about the meal. read more

Love that there are more tasty Asian food options near the East Plano/Murphy area! Super convenient for us who live out in the burbs. Service: Looks like there were a few mixed reviews from other yelpers, but keep in mind they just opened and working out the kinks when busy! Pho broth look just plain beef broth, it didn't have any oily fat. Rice combo and bo luc lac were okay nothing to brag about. Fishsauce drumettes were wings cut in half and very dry. Didn't look appetizing at all and have no taste. It was like a left over wings they refried and pour fishsauce (actual pure fishsauce) and garnished with fresh Thai basils. Honestly one of the most authentic pho places in the area (great flavor broth, but a little bland), but does not give you enough for the price you pay. Does not give you enough meat, and although the large bowl seems large, they definitely did not put a large portion's worth in the bowl. Large bowls at other places leave me full and sometimes I can't even finish, but this bowl was definitely not that size. Also, I find it weird that they close early... if you plan on making a trip here, plan ahead. 4 stars just because it's next to my house and has a great flavor and the meat balls in the pho are great. But other than that, I am often in the Garland area with authentic pho places that serve a lot more. This is our first time to Pho 544 and it really hit the spot. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We ordered the A2 Shrimp rolls for appetizer and they were very fresh and tasty. We both ordered the P2 Pho Tai rate steak. It came out steaming and hot. I really enjoyed the flavor of the broth but the Hubs mentioned it was a little bland. It was missing a little something something. I know we've had Pho at other places and the broth was more rich and flavorful but overall Pho 544 was great and hit the spot.
