I came here because a friend told me that they have the best Bam Bo Hue. I was very disappointed of this dish here. It's like a watered down version of Bam Bo Hue. I am giving them credit for the amount of meat they put into the bowl though. I could not finish the dish. I am comparing this Bam Bo Hue to my go-to Pho Pasteur in Catonsville, MD. Pho Pasteur make the best version of this dish by far. They put a lot of meat and their soup based is more flavorful. You can taste the meaty, gelatinous goodness in your first slurp. read more

This place was amazing! Probably the best Pho I've ever had. The service was great, fast and too the point. The portions were huge and there was a ton of meat. I got the large #14. The flavor of the broth was so good I couldn't help myself. Only downfall.. they only have sugar, no artificial sweeteners, but with food that delicious... who cares! read more

This is my favorite place to get pho. I used to live in manassas and I'd drive to get here. The food SLAPS. I like the 80s music. And food comes out quick. I don't usually have any problems here except one time there was a bunch of gnats in the broth but I love eating here so much I let that slide also I was half way through my soup and it was still bomb. That was my only issue in all the years I've been coming. Even take out is prepared so fast. read more

Yes! Finally! A really solid Pho place here in Chantilly! I am in love with the owner...she is like my Auntie already lol. I came in while sick one day and she made me sit and personally made me some ginger tea with fresh crushed ginger like I was her child and had me drink it while I waited for my order. They remembered our names after just one visit and already know how I like my Pho. I am hoping this place is going to be around for a while. It really feels like I am just going to dine with family...we talk football and everything. Plus, the bowls are priced just right with ample food offered. I am trying my hardest to get them to deliver...but they did tell me if I am ever sick or have a car full of kids, I can call my order in and they will bring it to the car! Whoo Hoo! read more

This place was voted #1 pho in the NoVa area so I drove about 45 minutes to put them to the test. PHO - I order a large. The color of the broth immediately caught my attention b/c it looked really light. My assumptions were correct.. very tasteless. Broth, in my opinion, decides everything. The large is LARGE but for such a large bowl, I would of liked more meat. What I did like though were the people running the place. They seemed very humble and you can tell they really care about their restaurant. So you're wondering how they got #1 best pho in the NoVa area. Sadly, most people are stuck in their "suburban bubble" and think whatever place closest to their home is the best thing they've ever eaten. read more

The wife and I went to Pho 102 for lunch on successive Saturday afternoons. Pho 102 seemed like virtually every pho shop I'd ever ventured into. Located in a nondescript strip mall? Check. Small, largely unadorned dining room filled with generic tables and chairs? Check. However, there were positive signs that Pho 102 wasn't like many of its competitors as its dining room was near capacity on both visits with most of its customers being Vietnamese. On my first visit I had the large #5 ($9.25) with Tai Nam, Gau, Gan, Sach and on my second visit I had the small #7 ($7.25) with Tai, Chin, Gau, Gan, Sach. The large was true to its word. It was a very generous bowl of pho. I pushed back from the table quite stuffed. The small was still quite ample and was enough to fill me up. Both bowls had generous amounts of meat and noodles. The add-ins of basil, sliced jalapeno peppers, mung beans, and lime wedges were very fresh with vibrant color and crunch, if applicable. Vital to the success of pho is the broth and Pho 102's broth was consistently excellent on both visits. It possessed nice meatiness. Just as important, it had a noticeable presence of pleasant pho spice in its aroma as well as in its taste. I enjoyed Pho 102's namesake dish immensely as it was easily one of the best renditions I've found in the local area especially for the price. It's definitely the best bang for your buck pho in NoVA. I highly recommend Pho 102. read more

A few friends came here for the pho challenges (4 large pho servings in 1 big bowl), and out of curiosity, we came to check this place out. The lady owner stopped by and explained to us the 3 sauces on the table - Sate, lemongrass, and...something else. All spicy. She suggested us not to add any of the spices or condiments into the soup until we tried the broth. She then went ahead and mixed the sauces for us in separate sauce bowls - Some hoison sauce, and a tiny bit of sate (since I said I don't really eat spicy), and squeezed some lemon juice into the bowl. Man does it taste good! My bf and his brother added a lot more sate and some lemongrass spicy sauce - they said that the lemongrass makes the sauce sweeter. I stayed with the sauce that the owner made for me, and happy with it! The pho broth was good - not too salty but full of flavor. The beef slices were tender. So, I think we found ourselves a winner! Oh, and must thank the servers. I've never been to a pho place where they're so on point with filling up our water cups! read more

So here is another updated review. My office is very close by so my coworkers and I order carry out from them pretty often. It was surprising to see that they charge a "to go fee" of $2.50. I'm sorry, what are you exactly charging me for? You're not providing service for me nor are you waiting on me. So basically I'm paying for the container fee? Also, apparently they no longer serve the small size anymore so we had to get the large size which was not much different than what we originally got when we ordered a small. We may have gotten a little more broth, but no difference. I know places are subject to change prices and menu without notice, but I thought that was really strange. The broth has also gotten a lot more oilier. I was hoping this place didn't change after it first opened... Here's another... they don't take down names or numbers of people who call for pick up. So one time I ordered 9 items and apparently someone called right after me to place an order for her and her coworkers which consisted of 6 items. As you can already tell, they didn't have my order ready when I went and had to wait 40 minutes for my order to be ready and they gave the lady who came after me her order first. I tried to make a suggestion to them as I left that they should probably ask for names when people call to pick up, but they didn't bother to listen and just shook their head and said ok, ok. Needless to say, my coworkers and I have been very displeased of the service and it is slowly going down since it has opened. We will no longer be making our orders with pho 102 and will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

No. Nope. Never. I decided to come here on a Saturday afternoon to try a new photo place. The place was pretty packed probably because they won't a Best Pho Award. Not sure why. I looked on their menu and ordered the grilled chicken that comes with rice and their salad. I told the server no green onions and no lettuce on my plate. They bring me my chicken with lettuce and green onions. Strike one. So they bring me a new plate of grilled chicken soaked in their nasty sauce without lettuce or onions. I was back to happy. Then when I cut into my chicken it was pink and chewy. Not what chicken was supposed to look like. They agreed it was raw and would replace it. Strike two. I told them keep the food and I left. No three strikes when it comes to food. Two strikes and I'm out!!! read more

I don't usually eat Pho when I go to Pho places (weird I know) but this place has AMAZING bun bo hue. For those who don't know it is a lemongrass based beef broth spicy noodle soup. It was so good. Good food, poor service. We've been regulars here for over a year and have noticed a decline in service. 3 of the 4 past visits have been less than satisfactory but today we waited for 35 minutes for our order (that never came) and watched multiple tables around us get their food. After asking a third time, the server told us it was bc of a large take out order but could not explain why we were watching other tables finish their food that ordered well after us. We have found the Pho spot .. the best in NoVa finally. Surprised us completely and we found this spot completely by chance. And for me what tipped the scale was a complete vegetarian option which is easily the best I've ever had. The pho probably had a pound of vegetables and the broth was just perfect. Had all the bells and whistles. Best part, my teenagers loved it. read more

I landed in Dulles around 1 PM, and with a growling tummy searched for my first meal of the day. Scrolling through the top rated restaurants, and after reading the first couple of reviews, started to drool, and headed in the general direction of Chantilly. Waze faithfully brought me to their doorstep, and I was promptly greeted and seated by a beautiful associate. After deciding that everything on the menu looked delicious, I gave up, and asked the waiter to pick something for me. He picked the #10 large, and asked for my input for appetizers. Remembering the reviews, I went with the chicken wings, and let him know that I did not like cilantro. I was brought a glass of water, and then another, as I was trying to keep my belly button from sticking to my spine. In a relatively short amount of time, my chicken wings appeared. They were likely the best chicken wings that I've had, possibly some of the largest as well, six total. There was some shredded pickled cabbage, and some shredded lettuce on the plate as well. I happily dove into the chicken wings, and was polishing off the fourth one, when my soup appeared. At that moment I had realized that I had made a terrible mistake. I am a huge fan of pho (phan?), and have had it from coast to coast, but this was somehow the best tasting one that I've ever had. It also came in the biggest bowl that I had ever seen. I realized that the chicken wings were a mistake, pushed the plate away, and began to inhale the pho. After the initial adrenaline rush subsided, I caught my breath, and began to strategize. If I continued to eat the pho, I would have a bit of soup and two chicken wings for dinner tomorrow. Or I could stop now on the pho, finish the two chicken wings, and then have the pho for dinner tomorrow. I decided to go with later option, and asked the waitress to pack my pho to go. After she wrapped it up, and set it on my table, she walked towards the register. We spent about ten minutes staring at each other, as I was waiting for her to pick up the check and credit card, until I noticed the large sign next to her that said "pay at the register". Realizing my error, I got up, paid, and went off on my way. I didn't have another meal until the following morning. When I come back, I will keep to the following strategy. If I am by myself, I will get the normal size pho, and nothing else. If I'm with one other person, we will get the large pho, or two smaller pho. And if it's three or more, we will get the wings, and each will get the smaller pho. The wings are very heavy, and it was a mistake to eat all six of them at the same time, and then expect to eat the pho. Do so at your own risk. read more

Stumbled upon this gem while visiting wedding venues and bridal boutiques in the area with my colleague. We were starving and looking for somewhere to have lunch. We almost settled for fast food until I saw the letters "P-H-O" in my peripheral. I was so hungry, I didn't even bother looking at reviews for this place. I just prayed that it would be delicious, especially since this was my colleague's first time experience "heaven on earth," also known as Pho. OMG what an amazing first experience she had! The broth here is probably the best pho broth I've had in the short few years that I've been obsessing over Pho. I mean sooo flavorful, I wanted to get down on bended knee and propose to the owner and the cooks. The meat portions were pretty standard and everything else was standard, but the broth was like my tongue was being baptized and washed away of every sinful disgusting thing I've ever consumed. My colleague was absolutely blown away and angry that she hadn't ever experienced pho before that day. I have very little reason to ever be in this part of the world, but in the event that I am, I will definitely stop by this place. *insert corny, cliche' joke about this place being "Pho-king Pho-nomenal"* read more

Best pho place hands down. Serving size is generous and is delicious. Just wish it's closer to where I live.

TL;DR - Great prices, good pho, even better Bun Bo Hue. Pho is made to taste, and what's great about Pho 102 is that they leave lemongrass sauce and sate oil right on the table. You don't even have to ask for it, so just dive in. Want that extra serving of sate oil? Be shameless, no one's looking. The regular/small bowl of pho looks tiny at first, but it's more of a meal than you expect. I think it's a fine portion for lunch. If you're extremely hungry, then go treat yo self and get the large bowl. What shines here though is the Bun Bo Hue. Not every pho restaurant serves bun bo hue but this one does. Never had BBH? Think of it as a dirty pho, with thicker cuts of beef, thicker noodles, and a lot more zest. It's much more filling and satisfying than pho. The fried spring rolls are great too, thick and worth the price. The interior is a bit small so I don't recommend coming here with a group larger than 8, and that's pushing it. read more

My family and I tried Pho 102 this weekend, and we were pleasantly surprised. We started off with the chicken wings, which smelled very strongly of fish sauce but tasted good. They would be so much better if they were served more crispy - I literally spat out the slimy fatty skin at one point. I ordered the pho with eye of round steak and tendon. The pho is served in a nice big bowl, and they are very generous with their soup. The portions could be a bit bigger, but their tendon was amazing - chewy and almost crunchy rather than the gelatinous, mushy tendon I'm used to getting. The broth was hot, and the noodles were chewy - pretty much the perfect bowl of pho. I added sate sauce, and it had a lot of kick and great flavor. We were one of those obnoxious big tables with four adults and five kids. So, it seemed like we were endlessly asking for something - more water, straws, forks, extra bowl, etc. The server was always happy to comply and served everything with a smile. He came by often to check on us while we were eating. He also took care to clear what he could off the table to give us more room. So, five stars for great pho and great service. Think I'll avoid the chicken wings next time and try their rolls, though. read more

I come here often with my family, because it's the closest and probably best pho restaurant in the Chantilly area. However, it's definitely not the best pho I've had in Northern Virginia. Pho 102 - Com Thit Nuong! - Vietnamese Near Me - Chantilly, Virginia

Top pho place around the area. All their sauces are housemade, and I recommend the lemongrass one looking for something unique and authentic to add to their pho. Of the Vietnamese restaurants, this one is new, clean and shows that the owner spent some time and effort into making it look decent...which is important to me. Service was great, the staff was friendly and prompt. Vietnamese coffee - not all the way authentic, but not half bad. I didn't have any issues with the filter, but was honestly expecting a bit more in terms of volume. Pho - very good and tasty. The broth was well seasoned and they gave plenty of meat and noodles. Not salty and tastes home cooked. I specifically liked the fact that my noodles weren't stuck together - if you have had pho before, you'd noticed that when the bowl comes out the noodles stick together like they had been sitting there for a while... which was not the case at this place. Condiments - the pho sauce (dark brown) seems overly watery, like they just add water or something to refill it... kinda looked disgusting with the dark brown at the bottom and lighter brown at the top... Menu - not to extensive. They had all the pho selections, alright offering of desserts, and about 5 or so dishes other than pho. I attribute many of the good things here for the fact that it is a new restaurant. I'd like to see that they maintain the quality in their pho and service. Keep it up! read more

I work near Pho Satay, and live near Super Pho. I am also close enough to 102 to have tried it twice and I don't get the attraction, contest or not. I like Satay the best so far. The broth is interesting and the pepper oil makes it noteworthy. About a month ago I went to Super Pho (during the contest which I saw from the sign at the door) and they had changed their mix to emulate Satay which I liked a lot. Unfortunately, afterwards they changed back, wish they had stuck with the new ideas. Although this is the closest restaurant to me I avoid it. At the carry out counter they always seem pissy, not sure why. I'm about the easiest customer ever but always feel unwelcome. Getting back to 102, I should let my wife comment since she got the carry out but she doesn't Yelp. The pho took over an hour to prep for her. Wait... 60 minutes? And during that time the wait staff acted like she (and others who left in bewilderment) were in the way. And when she finally got it home? Meh. Lukewarm, salty, lacking in just about every subtle flavor found in pho. Frankly, it sucked. I will try one more time, but this will be my 3rd visit then. I get that everyone can have a bad day but I'm hoping for better luck the next time. This was just not a fun experience. read more

It's a nice, clean restaurant. I like the decor and atmosphere. The service is super fast, like most pho places. The portions are nice size. The only thing about this place is that it's super-hyped up in terms of the pho. When I go to a pho shop, I don't order anything else but pho. It's the same as going to a burger shop and ordering a burger. You wouldn't want to order a side salad or something would ya? Anyway, since they specialize in pho, I would assume it would be amazing. However, I don't think it is. The broth has a lot of spice hints to it (cardamon, anise, and cinnamon) so it really masks the flavor. It's hard to taste anything else besides those spices. With pho, there should be other flavors in there as well and you should be able to eat it without adding (much) condiments (sriracha and hoisin). In my case, I had to add a lot of stuff and still couldn't get the spices out. Don't get me wrong, there are many pho lovers that LOVE that spice. I for one am not a fan of too much of it. read more

Terrible service and a rip-off meal. My friend and I came here after finding out that Pho 102 was ranked the #1 Pho stop in NoVa. I am a pho-lover at heart and was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. Even though the restaurant provided extra vegetables (purple cabbage) beyond the typical beansprout, mint, lime, etc., the meal was lackluster due to the broth's overly-oily consistency and meat, which really should have just been named 'fat'. My friend and I both ordered dishes with lean meat, yet at least each piece of meat was riddled with fat. After eating at many pho places in the past, I understand that meat does have a bit of fat sometimes. However, the removed fat in its entirety at this place ended up filling up an entire extra dish they provided! As for the broth, there was a layer of oil on the top that made the meal less appetizing. The fact of the matter is I was highly disappointed by this meal. As for the service, the three people in the restaurant (female cashier, middle-aged asian male, and old man) were fine at first. However, biggest surprise was when the old man rhetorically stated in a sharp, sarcastic manner: "No Tip??" at the end as we were about to leave. I was in complete DISBELIEF when this old man approached us about that. Never in my entire life of eating out have I ever had a worker directly approach me for a tip. I was so shocked (and a little bit scared) that we wouldn't be able to leave if we did not, so my friend paid a few dollars in tip. Such terrible, terrible, unprofessional service. I deeply regret that my friend did end up paying the tip so we could get out of that place, seeing as they did not deserve it in the first place. I am never stepping in Pho-102 again. I guess I'm sticking to my beloved Pho 75. read more

I've gone to Pho 102 twice now and it'll definitely be a regular spot for me to order Bun Bo Hue. It's my absolute favor Vietnamese soup and not many places do it well in the Chantilly area. I do enjoy the bowl served at Pho 98, but they only offer it in a large. Pho 102 offers a small size, which is perfect for me to demolish. The flavors are great and meat is nice and tender. It's not exactly spicy, but I add sate and jalapenos to it. You can also ask for shrimp paste on the side. Be prepared for the stench, but it's definitely worth it! I like that they provide a mix of add ons on each table, such as sate, lemongrass, and chili paste. Most establishments you have to ask for sate and sometimes they don't even have it. Service is pretty standard. Nothing spectacular. The place is pretty small and it seems to get fairly busy. Overall, a solid spot to fulfill my bun bo hue cravings. read more
