One of the best hu tiu nam vang! Small place on a second floor. The soup is flavourful and taste authentic. They are specialized in hu tiu soup, so you won't find pho or other noodle soup in their menu. The main reason why i did not give a 5 stars is due to the cleanliness of the place. The tables are quite sticky...and the place itself doesn't look that clean. But who cares right? The food is great! **they are closed on Wednesdays

Solid authentic Viet restaurant offering one of the most authentic soups I've had. This is my second favourite Hu Tieu Nam Vang place in Montreal (first place I have to keep for myself). This restaurant is a hidden gem! Food: brought my Vietnamese friend here and even she said that the soup is authentic. We had the Hu Tieu Nam Vang (one dry one with soup) and some fried Chinese Donut bread. The Chinese donut wasn't as good but the soup was definitely mouthwatering, flavourful and authentic. The ice coffee with milk is also a classic to have. Service: the waiter was so friendly and looked very joyful, and that puts me in a good mood too. Only con is that parking is a bit difficult.

Restaurant is on the 2nd floor - despite the old faded sign on the first floor door they are still open for business.

Absolutely my favorite meal while in Montreal. Having been to Saigon, VN twice I fell in love with Hu Tieu Nam Vang and have had a hard time finding anything similar outside of Vietnam. We all ordered the Hu Tieu Nam Vang which is a pork based broth with noodles, pork, shrimp, fried tofu and various veggies. Absolutely delicious when eaten with giò cháo quy, (Chinese cruller/donut). The giò cháo quy you have to ask for but I highly recommend it. Had to park on the street as there is no parking lot and upon walking up to the door we didn't' realize but the place is on the second floor. The sign on the door is old and faded and we initially thought they were out of business.

'Kho' Phnom Penh soup and fried chinese bread to dip!

Phnom Penh is probably Côtes-des-Neiges' best kept secret and has been open for over 20 years. Having lived in Toronto and Seattle, I make a point to come to Phnom Penh anytime I'm back in Montreal, haven't found any other restaurant like it in other cities! The go-to for me is definitely the white noodle Phnom Penh soup served as 'kho', which is served with noodles and broth separate with some great garnishes and sauce on the noodles. It's delicious! Coupled with fried chinese bread to dip in the broth, you're in for a treat, get the spring rolls if you're real hungry as well, they're excellent. One bonus is that despite their restricted hours, they're usually always open on holidays, I've gone numerous times for lunch on Christmas eves and thanksgivings. Oh, and make sure to bring cash!

A flavorful bowl of noodle soup!

I fell in love with this place the moment the food arrived. The soup was so flavorful. The fried dough just makes it better. Fresh and cold soursop drink!

This is the best Pho ever. = )

This is the BEST pho place in Montreal by far. Trust me. I am from Vancouver, i have had pho at 50 different restaurants, at my Vietnamese friends house, i even made it myself. This is the one and only place in Montreal that i will go to for pho. It is simply the best there is. Take my word and just go try it. This is a beautiful hidden gem of a vietnamese/cambodian restaurant. 10/10

The best H Tíu you can find in Montreal. The taste is very close to the street food in Saigon.

My family made reservations for noon on a Saturday and thankfully so, because the line was out the door upon arrival. We ordered a pho dac biet (#15) and bun bo hue dac biet (#24) . Come hungry, because their large bowls are massive! Their pho was so nourishing and comforting on a rainy day. Each bowl loaded with a hefty serving of meat, tendon and tripe. The herbs were incredibly fresh and even came with culantro! But the star of this meal had to be the bun bo hue; I haven't had such an amazing bun bo hue from a restaurant in a long time. The broth was beefy and loaded with tender pieces of meat, but also finally had enough of the lemongrass essence I crave for in bbh. It packed just the right amount of heat without it being overpowering or mouth-numbing. I practically licked the bowl clean at the end of the meal. My family was ecstatic to have found another spot that hits close to home for them. Flavors are impeccable and portion sizes are very generous. We already decided that we will be regulars. You'll catch us here very often!

The selection of menu was incredibly special. The offering is Northern Vietnamese food and these special dishes are really hard to find at any different Vietnamese restaurant. Bun Cha Ha Noi - is also called Obama noodle because President Obama had it when he was in Vietnam. Besides the grilled pork, the hardest thing in my opinion is the sauce, which was good here. The only that bothered me is how small the portion is. We had to order extra meat for my daughter. Bun Dau Mam Tom - I have high expectation for a very authentic Vietnamese disk so I was not impressed with their Bun Dau Mam Tom. It normally comes with pork intestine. Where is my pork intestine? Haha Again the portion is also very small. Nem be which is similar to spring roll was also something we called at the end when everyone was still hungry. In my opinion, it is a bit expensive for the food and the portions are small.

Whatever it was Pho Saigon Viet-Nam served me up the best Satay Beef Pho I ever tasted. I started my lunch meal with spring rolls ($5,00). They were good but not the best spring rolls I ever had. The roll I thought was a bit chewy. Next came the Satay Beef ($12) which totally flavored the Pho. It was the best Pho I ever had but mind you I am no expert. They have a strange business model in that a small bowl is $11 and a large bowl is $12. It came out piping hot. I had to let it sit, as well as, blow on the broth to cool it down. The staff was tri-lingual. Imagine that! The food came out quick. It seems a lot of locals dine here. The restaurant is located in Chinatown. The street entrance is below ground level. The restaurant is somewhat dated and upkeep could be improved. The food is a 5 STAR in my opinion.

The restaurant was relatively empty. Tabletops had a bit of a stench to it and the menus handed to us were sticky. Not one to judge a book by its cover and these conditions are fairly common in Chinatown. The menu was pretty extensive with all the common dishes. I really wanted some banh cuon or banh uot, but on a frigid night, I felt like some pho would hit the spot instead. The bun bo hue and banh canh were very enticing to me; those would've been great options on a cold night as well. Prices were reasonable ranging from 12-16$ based on size. We ordered a small and medium; instantly regretted not getting a bigger size though because I def could have eaten more. Broth was darker than normal. Nothing stood out about the broth, but it was pretty spice-forward and still very much hit the spot. They surprisingly loaded up on the meat; I've never had this much meat in my bowl of pho at any other restaurants. The noodles were also cooked perfectly! Realistically I probably wouldn't come back here as often if my other usual spots were open, but I'm especially grateful they were welcoming during holiday hours. I noticed that the banh xeo and some other dishes were cheaper than other places though, so maybe I'll return for that. CASH ONLY.

Lots of rice! But the pork chop was decent regular size. Pork chop was perfectly marinated and I love the glaze that comes with it. Cooked perfectly as well not too dry and not tough. Also the fried egg was perfect! A little soft fried sunny side egg yolk! Overall I loved all elements of this place and I had so much rice left over but I was FULL for the whole day. Banh Xeo - 10/10 HUGE portion as well! It's super stuffed with lots of filling and the crepe was cooked soft and crispy! I like this style of appetizer because it's super hands on and you get to wrap it like a little roll. Super fun and yummy appetizer! ALSO pleaseee try the sugar cane drink!
