What a privilege to be able to enjoy well prepared Vietnamese food served in large portions. The pork served with both #49 and 58 were both juicy, tender, well- seasoned with great depth of flavor and texture. We also enjoyed the 3 bean drink. Reminds me of the Filipino halo- halo. We're planning to return tomorrow to enjoy Pho Anh Vu's other offerings. Stay tuned for updates. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

Whatever it was Pho Saigon Viet-Nam served me up the best Satay Beef Pho I ever tasted. I started my lunch meal with spring rolls ($5,00). They were good but not the best spring rolls I ever had. The roll I thought was a bit chewy. Next came the Satay Beef ($12) which totally flavored the Pho. It was the best Pho I ever had but mind you I am no expert. They have a strange business model in that a small bowl is $11 and a large bowl is $12. It came out piping hot. I had to let it sit, as well as, blow on the broth to cool it down. The staff was tri-lingual. Imagine that! The food came out quick. It seems a lot of locals dine here. The restaurant is located in Chinatown. The street entrance is below ground level. The restaurant is somewhat dated and upkeep could be improved. The food is a 5 STAR in my opinion.

The restaurant was relatively empty. Tabletops had a bit of a stench to it and the menus handed to us were sticky. Not one to judge a book by its cover and these conditions are fairly common in Chinatown. The menu was pretty extensive with all the common dishes. I really wanted some banh cuon or banh uot, but on a frigid night, I felt like some pho would hit the spot instead. The bun bo hue and banh canh were very enticing to me; those would've been great options on a cold night as well. Prices were reasonable ranging from 12-16$ based on size. We ordered a small and medium; instantly regretted not getting a bigger size though because I def could have eaten more. Broth was darker than normal. Nothing stood out about the broth, but it was pretty spice-forward and still very much hit the spot. They surprisingly loaded up on the meat; I've never had this much meat in my bowl of pho at any other restaurants. The noodles were also cooked perfectly! Realistically I probably wouldn't come back here as often if my other usual spots were open, but I'm especially grateful they were welcoming during holiday hours. I noticed that the banh xeo and some other dishes were cheaper than other places though, so maybe I'll return for that. CASH ONLY.

But briefly, we got a spring roll (I think it was the sprimp and chicken), a chicken dish (I think we got the half chicken), a pho dish and the grilled chicken and shrimp with salad and vermicelli. The spring rolls were good. Very crunchy wrapping, mixed with a fusion of veges, protein and vermicelli. The half chicken was my least favorite dish. I think it's an acquired taste, but the meat was tough to chew and the sauce was a quite tart. Combining all the factors mentioned above, it was a bit difficult to eat. The pho was good. The soup brough was warm, hearty and filling. The noodles were good too - very soft and easy to eat. The vermicelli dish was also good. Very standard protein and vege vermicelli dish. The chicken was tender and shrimp was grilled to perfection. Not a bad choice for Vietnamese cuisine in Montreal.

The raw beef appetizer served with shrimp chips was outstanding, and my porkchop over rice was excellent. I had a taste of my friend's Pho which also seemed really nice. Solid jasmine tea as well! Dunno, just a nice solid meal with relatively fast service in a no frills setting. This is the kind of local joint we all wish we lived near, kudos to those who do.

First of all, this place is located on the street level of a duplex, so easy to miss it if you are not paying close attention. Street parking with maybe space in the driveway for 1 or 2 vehicles. It is a small place with approx 15 tables ranging from seating for 2 to 6/8 per table. Great service, so no complains there! Now for the food...PHENOMENAL! Every dish tasted like they were made from a Vietnamese's home. Great flavours without the "restaurant" taste, if you know what I mean. I would imagine if we were to visit a Vietnamese person's home, the dishes would taste something along this line. Having lived close to San Jose, CA (large Viet population with lots of specialty restos) and currently from just outside Toronto, where we have an array of authentic Viet restos, this place rates near the top in comparison to Viet restos we have been to, even in Montreal. This is definitely our favourite Viet restaurant...hoping to pick up a takeout from here before we leave this week!

The entrance is a few steps up from street-level but where the name is etched on the door, it's mostly rubbed off so it looks abandoned. We decided to wait for a table since we had walked 25 minutes to get there. It didn't take long until someone left and we got a table. The menu is tiny and all in french. We managed to decipher it and ordered. My husband ordered Hù tiêú nam vang and I ordered Hù tiú bò. Both were piping hot, flavourful and filled with plenty of protein. The noodles were cooked perfectly. We loved that there was an option on the menu for cooking the beansprouts as usually we have to write that separately. We also ordered 2 imperial rolls and they were also piping hot, crispy and delicious. I loved that in the washroom there's a chalkboard wall where you can write comments :) This place is a true foodie find and we will definitely be back next time we're in Montrêal.
