Sadly, we've moved away from Montreal, but make certain we come to this establishment each time we visit family in Montreal. We always get the hi tieu nam vang kho (dry version). It's delicious! The service is always good and friendly. From what I recall, it's cash only, but reasonably priced.

My husband and I went to Phnom Penh for breakfast yesterday. When we arrived outside, we thought…read morethey were closed or even closed down for good. The entrance is a few steps up from street-level but where the name is etched on the door, it's mostly rubbed off so it looks abandoned. We almost walked away until I peeked into the entrance and saw people sitting upstairs. We went upstairs and the tiny restaurant was full. We decided to wait for a table since we had walked 25 minutes to get there. It didn't take long until someone left and we got a table. The menu is tiny and all in french. We managed to decipher it and ordered. My husband ordered Hù tiêú nam vang and I ordered Hù tiú bò. Both were piping hot, flavourful and filled with plenty of protein. The noodles were cooked perfectly. We loved that there was an option on the menu for cooking the beansprouts as usually we have to write that separately. We also ordered 2 imperial rolls and they were also piping hot, crispy and delicious. I loved that in the washroom there's a chalkboard wall where you can write comments :) This place is a true foodie find and we will definitely be back next time we're in Montrêal.

I had a Lucy Liu which was delicious and had a little kick to it. The Thai basil was great counterpoint. The service was helpful and prompt and the gentleman knew the menu well. We started with the pork belly and shrimp chip combo that was in a slight sauce of red curry. The spices and flavor were delicious. We also ordered the pickled vegetables which was refreshing contrast to the meat. We also ordered stuffed chicken wings and green papaya salad. We ended with the desert of mango with sticky rice. The mango was perfectly ripe and sweet and tart enough to contrast with the coconut milk sweetened sticky rice. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the cooks work in the kitchen. The space and ambiance were lovely.

The space has a fun, laid-back vibe that makes it perfect for a casual night out. We ordered: * Papaya salad * Wasabi shrimp ceviche * Steak Stuffed Wings: hands down the highlight of the night. Would definitely come back again next time I'm in Montreal.

Maybe it wasn't the chef's night... The food we got wasn't really authentic. The soup tasted like lipton soup. The rice seemed to be yesterday's rice. The dumplings with peanut sauce tasted of. Perhaps the peanut butter used was expired?!! The two main dishes tasted exactly the same even though the descriptions are extremely different from one to the other. Not to mention that one incident where i asked the cashier if Felix tipped them. She said no but i checked our receipt and he DID! Not cool lady! The decor is tacky and out dated. The price are a bit on the pricey side. Not worth it due to the quality of the ingredients and the freshness is questionable. Will we return? Most probably not.

Most likely because of the power outage they experienced an hour before my arrival. Trusting my gut feeling that this place has a good potential, visited them 3-4 times some months following my bad review and honestly was impressed on every single visit. My last discovery was their chicken noodle soup, a tad less rich in flavour than a Pho but very close and satisfying have to admit. I'll ask them if they would make this with grilled chicken to enhance the overall experience. Next soup will be with beef knowing their beef in their salad was cotton soft. I'll be a regular here from now on given their proximity to my house as well as to discover what's left to discover on their interesting tasty menu. Most importantly, a lesson learned here: Do NOT judge a place based on one visit, be it positive or negative. Things could go to either direction over time.
