    Complimentary Phiten Discs and Taping
    Mary F.

There are only 2 types of people in this world: those that believe in Phiten and those who do not! I became interested in Phiten because I worship the ground Paula Radcliffe walks on and she always wears a Phiten necklace. They even made a Paula Radcliffe inspired necklace. I started off with a Phiten bracelet after getting a bad case of tendinitis. I wasn't sure if it helped or not but my wrist slowly got better so I figured it wasn't hurting. After seriously injuring my right foot and not being able to run for 6 months, I was terrified I would not make it across the finish line at the San Francisco Half Marathon. I decided I needed something more powerful than the bracelet - I needed a necklace. I went to the Phiten store and got x30 - it's supposed to be 30 times more powerful. The worker was really friendly and asked me a lot of questions so I ended up telling her about my injured foot. She quickly offered to do a courtesy taping before my half marathon. The Friday before I flew up, I stopped by the store the they stuck Phiten discs and tape on my injured foot. Let's just say that with hardly any training at all, I finished strong and pain-free in my half marathon and I swear by Phiten.

I had a really bad ankle injury then and they taped me up with their titanium tapes and discs the day before.

Over the past year, l've noticed a big improvement in how things are run, and I truly think the new store manager deserves credit for that. In previous years, when I brought in clothes to sell, my experiences with some of the buyers felt very unprofessional, in fact I had multiple bad experiences with one of the female buyers that I notice still works there. She was very rude and condescending and now when I come in to sell I specifically don't want her to attend me. However, this year has been a completely different story. The newer buyers seem much better trained, more organized, respectful, and clear in how they take care of their customers. The whole process feels smoother and more customer-focused now, which makes a huge difference. In fact, today I had a question about the pricing of some of my items and the new store manager was very helpful and I left feeling very happy! Because of these positive changes, I actually look forward to bringing items in again, and I feel more confident in the process when working with the newer staff. Overall, I'm glad to see the progress and hope it continues in this direction. I have also recommended this location to my family and friends and they love the store!

So, there are definitely trendier items here and clothes are organized based on different trends as well (Y2K, designer, vintage, etc). I like the openness and brightness of the store. It resembles its other location in LA. I like that the racks aren't overcrowded with too many items so you can actually slide the coat hangers and look at the items. I got 2 jackets and culotte pants from here. Each were $12.99. The store was very nicely organized and even had an armchair to lounge on. The shoes were in good condition. The bad: I saw several tops with holes, snags or frayed fabric. They don't have healthcare worker discounts like the thrift shop across the street has. The interesting: You can bring in 5 items at a time in the fitting room. One of the workers at the register was on her phone a lot but perhaps she was looking up values/prices of the clothes she was labeling? They do buy clothes here.

Uptown Cheapskate is this fully stocked, stuffed to the brim, place to grab your vintage clothing…read more This shop really has a lot of clothing! I mean, really a lot! They have tons of a little bit of everything. They have tons of women's clothing, tons of men's clothing, tons of T-shirts, and a whole lot of shoes. Really! A lot of shoes! The store is what I would say is a step above shopping at a thrift store. What they do here is, offer the best of the best of vintage clothing. So, when you go in here, you know you're going to find high-quality items. This is not to say that they're cheap. For some, their prices may be considered a little bit high. But, again, what you're getting is the best of the best of vintage clothing, and sometimes you have to pay for that privilege. Depending on what you're looking for, this store may very well have it. From my experience, this store is most commonly geared towards a younger audience. They have tons of T-shirts, jeans, and a lot of stuff that could be considered on the more casual side of the picture. For example, when I shop a vintage store, I'm commonly looking men's sport coats and suits, and stuff along that line. They really don't have a good selection of these items. This is just something to keep in mind if you're looking for that kind of thing. But, on the other hand, if you're looking for all of the more casual style of clothing, they have a lot of it. Located on Hawthorne Boulevard, this store is fairly easy to find. They have a parking lot in the front and the rear, which sometimes can become kind of full. So, you may have to park on the street. This is because of the fact this store is a very popular shop. A lot of people come here, particularly on the weekends. And, when they have their sales, forget about it. The store is packed. One way or the other, if you're looking for that vintage piece of clothing, that really cool something, that T-shirt that you've been looking for forever, that pair of really cool shoes, or whatever else, this may be your place to find it.

Staff were incredibly kind and were very welcome to conversation…read more I've been here about 3-4 times now and each time I find something new I want to blow my money on. Most of everything is quite affordable. There are pieces that do get a be more on the pricier side, but most of the time it is only shoes that are the expensive pieces. Also, the BIRTHDAY discount they have can be used INFINITELY throughout your birthday month??? Are we serious?
