Evolution Footwear is a gem of a shoe store in Torrance. They carry high quality, comfortable, and well made shoes. I am going on a trip that will involve a lot of walking, and I am looking for shoes that I can wear in inclement weather but yet walk all day in if need be and then transition to restaurant attire at night. I thought I was asking for a lot, but I found a pair of boots that checked all the boxes. I can wear them with casual pants, dressier pants, and even a skirt with leggings. The owner Laura is such a professional who is all about customer service and understands the issues I have with my hard-to-fit feet. I only wish I discovered this store ten years ago. read more

I am a hard to fit shoe. I do love my shoes. Laura, the owner, is so knowledgeable about feet, orthotics and shoes she can match shoes to feet to fit without drama. And let's face it, shoes that don't fit well cause drama. My friend introduced me to Evolution Footwear. I've bought several pairs of shoes from Laura. I will continue to use Laura as a #1 resource in the South Bay for shoes. Yup, created a monster. Happily. read more

I found the perfect shoes for my upcoming on your feet all day trip. Both a nice comfortable sandle with adjustable straps and a sneakers for my work outs. Laura is the best! She owns the shop, she knows shoes, and her background in the medical field helping diabetics with their foot problems are all good reasons to recommend her. I found out about her store from my podiatrist. Besides her deep experience fitting and adapting shoes, she is a really nice person. read more

Great business run by a lovely lady. Laura is the best and you should go see her for your specialty footwear needs. My mother was having an issue with her achilles tendon and Laura recommended the perfect walking shoe for her that she absolutely loved. The business has an excellent stock of footwear in many styles and you'll definitely leave here feeling happy and with much more comfortable feet. The location is also excellent, with many other great small businesses surrounding it. Ample parking in the lot right out front. Will definitely be back! read more

Laura, the owner, was awesome! I've lived in Torrance all my life, and always drive past this store, and finally, after multiple failed attempts of online shopping random sites for wide, comfortable and fashionable looking shoes, I finally stumbled in here to find 5 different styles of great looking and very comfortable shoes that fit my wide feet and are made with quality in mind. Prices are very competitive compared to the high-end department stores like Nordstrom's, and you get all the benefits of working with a small locally based and woman-owned business. Go support Laura and shop in-person at Evolution Footwear on the corner of Lomita Bl and Hawthorne Bl in Torrance. You won't be disappointed! read more

Evolution Footwear - My haul from Evolution Footwear - 5 pairs of shoes, most at 20% or more off department stores retail price. - Shoe Stores Near Me - Torrance, California

I have been in search of comfortable shoes as my feet ache all the time due to arthritis. Someone had referred me to Evolution Footwear and I was very happy to meet the owner Laura today who suggested a couple of pairs of shoes that would feel better on me. She also watched me walk and gave me a suggestion about my achilles tendon and how it was very tight and that could affect my feet. Interesting, no one else has ever said that to me and I'm going to do the exercise she suggested to help correct this problem. I was so impressed with her and her store and definitely will be going back read more

I won't go back here. I made a purchase (based on an agreement with the owner), which she did not keep, and when I was totally dissatisfied, the owner wouldn't resolve it. I was eating lunch at the fish place next door and had a little time to kill so I walked in to check out the shoes. The owner was there helping someone else, and did not acknowledge me. I browsed while she helped the other woman. I found a pair of shoes I liked and waited patiently. It look awhile for her to wrap up with the other woman and so I was short on time. She finally got to me and I told her I wanted to try these black NATO shoes. She looked and she didn't have my size. So she gave me another similar style in the same brand to try on. It fit a tad snug but she assured me it could be worn in as it was leather. She then said the shoe wasn't available anymore in that color and they only had a gray/black one in the same style. She said if she ordered the shoe it was non-returnable to the purchaser. She asked me to commit to the purchase. I told her i wasn't sure about that especially since I hadn't tried on the shoe in that style to even know if I liked it or the fit. She said "we'll work something out if you don't end up liking it". I committed based on her agreement. The shoe came in a over a week later (holidays), I tried it on and the fit was not good. It was too tight across the toes, very tight. So she stretched and stretched it and stretched. It was not a good fit, even though it was my size and it had been stretched. I was not happy and she told me that it wasn't returnable. I told her that it didn't fit and I didn't love the colors or the shoes. She said she'd die the shoes for me and I could come back at anytime to get them re-died as the die wears off. She persisted and said it wasn't returnable. I told her that she said that we'd work something out, and she said, "sure I'll give you 10% off the shoes and you can come Back anytime To get it died or stretched". That was her "work it out" solution. 10% Off a pair of $200 shoes that didn't fit, I didn't like the color and I wasn't satisfied with. I walked out with my new set of crappy expensive paperweights I'll never use. I won't go back here. Since then I've attempted to wear them a few times to see if I could get used to them or break them in...out of sheer disappointment that I spent $ on them. They were terrible. A horrible fit and so uncomfortable!! read more

If it is style, comfort or a real foot problem this is the place. Personal service from an orthotics expert. My own podiatrist and other physical health specialists come here or send their patients. So far I have purchased two pair of shoes and stopped wearing some of my, what I thought, my "best" shoes on their suggestion. While I am saddened about parking my fqvorite $450 Ferragamo tassel loafers, she was right , they were doing damage to my feet and causing me unbearable pain requiring medication and meds. No more, Evolution Footwear is right at the corner of Lomita and Hawthorne in Torrance. Next to El Tori to. Go soon to find many foot friendly and style conscious brands that will help your feet. Our chiropractor recommended my girlfriend see a podiatrist for her foot issues caused by years of wearing very expensive, ill-fitting shoes, which, along with hip issues from numerous injuries, was causing her foot pain from an abnormal gait. The podiatrist then recommended we make the drive from Orange County (only 32.6 miles) to see Laura at Evolution Footwear. I'm not a fan of shopping, especially with a woman for shoes (snore!), but I have a brother in the South Bay so I agreed to tag along with the promise of the three of us being able to connect for lunch if he was around. We spent 2 hours with Laura, not only because she was a delight to talk to, but she's extremely knowledgeable, what with her previous profession in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. I was so fascinated by everything she said that I lost track of time, and when all was said and done we left with three pairs of shoes for my very happy girlfriend, and I got lunch, though my brother was nowhere to be found. We have since recommended Evolution Footwear to friends and coworkers, and they all have had equally satisfying experiences. I just wish Laura carried men's athletic shoes--I'd be there in a heartbeat! read more

Great place to find nice looking shoes for people who have problems while walking. I took my mom here and the owner was very helpful. My mom tried many models until she finally found that one she was looking for. I totally recommend this place check it out it is worth your time read more

This is the best store and owner. Come here from Catalina Island. Used to live in Torrance and went here all the time. Tried to buy other places but Laura's brands and knowledge are worth a boat trip over to the mainland. Get to come to buy next week and am looking forward to it. I have a hard foot to fit and she Gets it right every time. All shoes, boots and sandals I have purchased have been perfect and what she picks for me lasts a long time. Well worth the money fir the top quality products she furnishes. Continued success Laura. read more

Went there a while back and it was excellent service. Now this time have been there twice and she always has an excuse of why she hasn't ordered any of the shoes people are waiting for. Not a great experience these last few times going on line to find what I need. read more

Went in on recommendation of a friend.Got great service and tried on about a dozen pairs of shoes. Lauren was helpful, patient, and very friendly! Got a really cute pair of wedges with adjustable straps, cushy footbed, and good arch support. Lauren will order anything for you that she doesn't have in stock. Highly recommend if you are looking for especially comfortable shoes. read more

Great customer service -big selection of comfort shoes in all sizes. A great find!!! Laura is expert at shoe fitting for every foot.

I am baffled by the negative reviews here... I've had nothing but extremely positive experiences shopping here. The store owner has gone out of her way to assist me on several occasions even when I ultimately did not purchase something -- she seems to genuinely care about helping her customers (which is not something I normally see in retail anymore). Highly recommended! read more

Found this place after a nearby store did not have my size and so happy I stopped by! The owner was incredibly helpful and was able to try on a different size to find the best fit. Incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. Also great to support a woman-owned business! read more

Excelente customer service! Brought my wife in for a comfy shoe for work. Boy was she pleased.

I felt the need to comment after seeing only 2 with one being completely wrong. This store has one of the most helpful young ladies with regards to shoe fitting and foot problems in the South Bay. I have purchased shoes for myself and my mother with absolutely no problems and my wife usually purchases several pair on each visit. The owner is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, I was originally referred to Evolution by my foot doctor who recommended it highly. Clearly the previous reviewer (or her senile mother) must be mistaking this store for some other place, especially since they reference some pharmacy in El Segundo as an alternative... It's too bad that such a great local business can be slandered on Yelp in such a way. read more

I really like their shoes, definitely not the usual junk you find in most shoe stores!! very helpful as well. ...love love their shoes! go in a try on some I promise you will leave with a comfy pair! read more

I stopped in yesterday after a discouraging podiatrist visit. In an effort to postpone foot surgery, I'm interested in shoes that support my foot problems. Laura was super helpful and she suggested many things for me to try. I walked (painlessly) out of her store with a new pair of Naot sandals. If there is such a thing as attractive orthopedic type shoes, she either has it or can get it for you. read more

A real find for those of us with hard-to-fit feet! I've purchased many pairs of shoes at Evolution Footwear over the past few years. Laura is very helpful and accommodating. She will order more styles, colors and sizes to try, and she makes suggestions on how to wear the shoes with orthotics. read more

I came here to find some comfortable sandals for my upcoming trip - especially after reading the rave reviews from Yelp customers referred by their podiatrists, and coming as far as OC! Unfortunately I found this store in complete disarray and limited stock. She only carried a couple of brands and had a poor selection. I was quietly waiting but the owner was busy diagnosing the customers foot type and telling her not to go to a podiatrist. She was too involved in conversation dissing podiatrists that I just left! read more

Previously, I had worn a pair of soft leather, loafer like shoes that came from a national retail shoe specialty store, and my feet were hurting. Laura suggested a pair of shoes for me from her store and what a difference they made. I had NO foot pain from the shoes I got at Evolution Footwear. Laura is an expert and will find the right shoe for you. She knows the nuances of the various shoes she carries. I wanted a white sandal with a heel and she searched her catalog and found one that would work for me. The three pairs of shoes I have gotten here are like no other I have found anywhere else. read more

This exceptional store is a treasure because you can be helped to find the shoe that is perfect for your foot or foot problems. I have passed by this store over the years, but really didn't know what kind of store it was, and never took the time to go in before. The store sells comfortable shoes that have maybe a little more flair/style than other walking company shops. If you can't find your size or style preference, you should know that no specialty store like this keeps all sizes in stock because of the expense of stocking inventory. I learned this when I mentioned that specialty walking shoe stores in Manhattan Beach and Del Amo did not have my size and would have to order shoes for me to try them on. I am writing this review to express my appreciation for the owner's expertise and guidance in finding a perfect fit for my flat feet and posterior tibial tendon problems. Thank You! I love my new shoes and definitely will be back!
