Amazing Banh Mi. Not americanized, authentic. The pork was the best as well as the egg coffee. Highly recommend both!

I brought my 10 and 8 year old kiddos here and we had a great experience! The cinnamon roll crepe was delicious as well as the "is this heaven?" Crepe. I got the pork Bahn mi and it was the best one I've ever had. The thai milk tea was a little too sweet for me but the strawberry match was so good and not very sweet , in a good way. This cafe is absolutely the most cute calm environment. Lamps. Bird wallpaper. Plants. I had the vegetarian tofu Bahn Mi, Vietnamese Egg Coffee, and an Ube Bun. Sandwich was flavorful, delicious and filling. The thick foam on the egg coffee tasted like custard and the Ube bun was served hot and was heavenly. The staff are very nice. They check vaccine cards and ask for masks when not eating. It's not super cheap but not expensive for the Fenway area. I had a wonderful experience. read more

Had a great visit at Phinista. The manager was so helpful making recommendations and everything we had was delicious - the Ube latte, coffee bun, and salad bowls. There's a great atmosphere and we even stuck around to do some reading for a while. On a weekend it was busy but not overly crowded with lots of seating options including outdoor. read more

I was in the area and wanted coffee. I wish we lived near this cafe. I got the Matcha Latte and it was warm, creamy, and filling. Their caffeinated menu looks great - they use condensed milk for their Vietnamese-styled drinks. I look forward to returning for their banh mis and crepes. I love this place!! Sad to hear that they might be closing for a little while due to COVID restrictions, but looking forward to going back when they return! I've gone a couple times and had the tofu banh mi plus some of the pastries and drinks. The tofu banh mi is great! The bread is crusty and the tofu is well-prepared. The coffee is good, fresh, and strong, and my friends who had the lattes said they were all amazing. Teas are great, and customer service is top-notch! I came here right before closing time, so I didn't get to try too much, but I'm VERY excited to come back. I ordered an egg coffee and it was so, so good. I can not recommend it enough. Staff was very polite and friendly and walked me and my friend through how to drink it. I'm looking forward to trying their lava cakes!!! They have it in matcha, ube, and black sesame! Absolutely love this place. I've gone a couple times since moving to Boston for college, and I have nothing bad to say about it. Food is delicious and the coffee is even better. Everybody in there is extremely nice and helpful and will do everything possible to make sure you have an amazing experience. Especially with COVID, they are going out of their way to enforce all safety measures to ensure their customers feel safe and comfortable with everything going on. I could rave about this place for hours. I met the owner today, and he was genuinely such a nice person and stressed how important it is to him that his customers feel safe and enjoy their time in the cafe. There is limited seating inside due to COVID restrictions, but it is worth the wait to feel safe taking your mask off to eat. There is also space outside to eat if you are willing to brave the cold. 10/10!!! read more

Phinista is slowly becoming my go to spot for lunch. Bahn mi is only $8; it's so filling and delicious. I haven't had the coffee, but the milk teas and fruity drinks i've tried have all been really good. Make sure to shake them so you can distribute any syrup or flavor they have. Also if you actively dislike sweetener drinks I wouldn't recommend the fruit drinks specifically. Crepes are some of the best I've had. It has the perfect amount of filling and did not get soggy as I ate it. read more

The best cold brew I've ever had. I knew it would be good because they value quality and good ingredients but I had no idea it would be this good! It is the smoothest cold brew I've ever had. It has an extremely rich and deep flavor almost like caramel but not sweet. Do yourself a favor and pop into this extremely cute coffee shop. I wanted to try this place for the longest time because their drink menu is whimsical and unique with lavender and rose flavored Vietnamese coffee. Finally made my way there and ordered the Phin Rose coffee and lavender & chamomile tea. I take my coffee pretty seriously and it can literally make or break my day. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark by miles. The coffee was luke warm when I received it even though the barista steamed the milk...maybe it needed a few more seconds. I made a comment on the order and requested the coffee lightly sweetened but it tasted like warm sugar syrup and lacked any coffee flavor even though Vietnamese coffee is supposed to be intensely strong and bold. Will give this another go once the barista is more seasoned. read more

I want to start by saying I've only written like 3 reviews on Yelp in my life, so I only do so if I am very passionate about something. I have to say that both the asian tofu and lemongrass seitan bahn mi sandwiches are truthfully some of the most delicious items I have eaten. Even if you aren't vegetarian, I can't see how you wouldn't love the taste of these! Sandwiches are also quite big and filling. My 2 star rating is based on the service I received and the attitude of the server only identified as 'Manager C' on the check (called C from here on). I walked in, took the menu and stepped aside from the order counter, while still standing in the vicinity. I had almost decided my order and about to get to order when another customer just walked in and C started taking her order instead of asking me 'are you ready to order'. I was not happy but waited patiently until C finished taking the other order. When it was my turn, I expected a simple sorry because I felt 'C' knew that she should have taken my order first but nothing was said. The other customer just ordered a drink and left her credit card behind in the cafe. Then C had to run out to try to find the person but she was long gone. All this preferential treatment for a careless customer who just ordered a drink while the 2 of us were going to have an early dinner consisting of 2 Banh-Mi's, crepe and a drink. I was too hungry to walk to a neighboring place though there were plenty of food options on the same street, otherwise I would have walked out for the treatment I received. Also C had an odd way of correcting me for little things such as 'oh paper towel' when I asked for 'paper napkin'. I have an accent but I have lived in the US for almost 13 years now and have traveled almost the entire country and I know people do also call it 'paper napkin'. But I got to say that the Banh-Mi's were quite tasty and that's why the 2 stars. They were tasty that I went up to place a second order. Though C took the order she asked 'if this will be it for the day' instead of asking 'if you would like something else before we close soon'. I know they were going to close in half hour but come on, that's not the right way to treat a customer. It's as if we have enough business for the day (or we made enough money today) that I don't want to make another Banh mi if you come 10 minutes later. If feels better to phrase 'if you need something else can you please order now because we are closing' than just say 'is that it for you folks today'. C has a very passive way of talking seemingly polite but quite impudent way of handling things - I am old enough to tell your passive aggressive types from the really nice people. My partner felt like a side of a sauce would be nice to dip into. Though they had a stack of mini sauce cups but they refused to give me one saying they don't give out a side of sauce for this Banh-mi. Does it really make a difference to hand over one mini cup considering you are going to close soon? Is it really going to ruin your preparations for next day if you are short of one mini sauce cup? Looks like that's more important to you than satisfying your customer. Other Yelpers reading my review if you think I am assuming too much, my 2 stars are based on 2 facts - 1) not taking the order for a customer who was in and ready first 2) denying a mini sauce when you had plenty leftover. I am sorry to say that you may be serving the best Banh-Mis with recipes directly from your homeland but not teaching customer etiquettes to your servers will cost you some business - a little respect and treating everyone the same way will go a long way! read more

I love Phinista! I'd never had Vietnamese Coffee before, and I'm so glad for the opportunity to have an authentic cup right here in Fenway! I love the hot Phin Latte (with sweetened condensed milk) and it's such a treat. I recently also tired their Americano coffee with a splash of cream for something a little less sweet and I loved the deep rich flavor of the espresso. But coffee isn't the only beverage you should try here! Get one of their Bubbly Teas for sure! The Dragonslayer was very refreshing but the Enter the Dragon has to be my favorite! Also, do not visit here without trying one of their Banh Mis! We've tried the Classic Cold Cut, the Grilled Barbecue Pork, and the Crispy Shrimp and all are delicious. I like mine with extra jalapeños and cilantro. Finally, the cherry on top is the offering of delicious crepes. An homage to the prior cafe that used to occupy the space, they are so delicious! My friends and I stopped in on Labor Day, it was delightful! They're staff is kind and attentive. Cute outdoor and indoor seating. I had a Banh Mi sandwich with lemongrass steak and it was amazing!!! Their crepes also looked great. I can't wait to come here for brunch again! Not sure what their hours are, but they're open 7 days a week. This has been my go-to coffee and brunch spot ever since getting to school in Boston, and it probably will be for years to come. On the surface level, Phinista is a quaint and adorable cafe with great crepes and even better drinks (personally, their strawberry matcha and Vietnamese cold brew are my favorites). But look a little, closer, and you'll realize that the real treat are the amazing staff and owners. I've had nothing but great interactions with the sweetest people who always keep a smile on their faces, despite how stressful it must be to work in food service during a pandemic. My friends and I have visited twice after discovering Phinista this semester, and have loved each trip. The employees are kind, warm, and attentive, the crepes are delicious, and the interior of the storefront is welcoming and cozy. With such a small space, the employees were very careful to maintain distancing and stay under the capacity limits, which made us feel much safer than we might have otherwise. We had a great conversation this morning with the owner about how thorough he was, even during this tough time for small businesses. Despite the current circumstances, he was beyond kind and remained upbeat. I already loved this cafe, but after talking to this kind employee (and later realizing he was the owner!)
