Phil's has always been my go to pizza for years!! Lately though, it's been super inconsistent! I think there's something going on with their crust. When someone mentions Chicago style pizza, they immediately think deep dish pizza. But most outside of Chicago don't relative that Chicago has two style pizzas. The touristy deep dish and the local Tavern Style pizza that is a thin crust and cut into squares. Don't get me wrong, I love deep dish as well, but if I had to eat pizza once a week, I would choose thin crust. But unfortunately, not everyone has been able to perfect it. Phil's? Absolutely has. They have a pretty large dining space to enjoy your pizza, but no one, and I mean no one sits down and eats their pizza inside this place. 99.9% does take out. I was part of the .1%. There's something about eating a pizza right out of the oven, and I didn't feel like waiting 30 minutes for it to cool down on my way home. We ordered a large thin crust pizza with sausage. That is by far the best way to try pizza in Chicago. No pepperoni, no onions or bell peppers crap. Just good ol' Italian sausage. This pizza was perfect. I can't believe it took me this long to try Phil's out. The crust was perfect. It was crispy and baked perfectly. It also had plenty of sauce with just the perfect amount of cheese. And every bite came with giant sausage pieces. Whenever a pizza place give you their pizza in a bag, you know it's going to be legit. Although I won't return to dine in, I'll definitely be back for take out. read more

We tried their sausage and pepperoni pizza the other day, and it absolutely hit the spot. The crust was perfectly baked -- golden on the outside with a soft, chewy center that held up well under the toppings. Hey, it's date night and my Boo raves about this place. It kind of gives me an Italian Fiesta vibe but it didn't have the Italian Fiesta taste, but it was very good!! I will definitely eat here again. We ordered our pizza sat in the car and chilled while waiting and then we decided to eat inside instead of driving all the way back home to eat it. We ordered a large thin crust cheese, sausage and jalapeño pepper. It was good thanks Phil! It's a small quaint place mostly for pick up and take out, with some seating inside where you can sit down and eat if you choose to. There's plenty of free parking outside right in front. The lady at the front who took our order was pretty nice. Our food was ready within the 25 minute timeframe which was good. ENJOY read more

Best pizza in Bridgeport!! Been eating since I was a little kid! Will always be in my top 3!!!

I haven't had Phil's in probably about seven years, so I decided to get it again. Normally we always go to Fabulous Freddie's in Bridgeport. I ordered a jumbo sausage pizza. They take cash only. The pizza took about 35 minutes to cook, they were actually pretty busy. The total was about $26 for the jumbo sausage pizza, and came with a free 2 L. Definitely worth it. The pizza was great. It had really nice quality sausage, lots of cheese, the crust was cooked nicely and a good distribution of sauce. I really enjoyed it. My only complaint would be the paper bag they put the pizza in rips really easy. read more

Terrible customer service- So first of all - after 3 hours - never got the pizza- they never stayed in contact with me about my pizza. Basically no pizza came at all. So let me say their pizza is ok- cash only pizza place- first I have to talk about their customer service over the phone - honestly- every time I call them, they sound pissed off. I always get an angry person that speaks to me over the phone. I like the pizza but it seems the people that work there are not happy. They are pretty mean over the phone when I take the order. For example, they will rush you and your order and make you feel stupid if you don't know what you want. I always know what I want to order but they make it seem like you're literally an idiot. I enjoy their pizza but don't enjoy talking to the people that take the order. They need better people to intake their customers calls because I don't know after today I'm going to order from them anymore. Sad that I didn't take a photo of the pizza but I ordered a medium pizza with green peppers and giardiniera peppers and my only complaint is that they went overboard with the peppers but it was good nonetheless. I think the lady who takes the orders is mean and rude on purpose but it seems like everyone is used to it, especially the regulars! I'd come back again. read more

Had Phil's today for the first time. When I tell you I love pizza, and this is the best pizza I ever did have. You need to run and give it a try! I had the Italian beef with giardiniera. I was skeptical about it initially but it was amazing. Does not get more chicago than this. They also had really good fries. The pizza was soo GOOD! The toppings weren't too salty and the cheese was amazing! I loved the crust the most!

We finally got to try Phil's and it did not disappoint! We got delivery the first time and carry out the second time. Phil's is super casual, no frills. Cash only if you're doing delivery. If you're picking up, I saw a sign that said you can pay with a credit card but there's a fee. All their pizzas are packaged in thin paper bags, so if you're getting pizza in the winter, it'll probably be cold by the time you eat it. The second time we got carry out and opted for the take and bake option. They put together the pizza, baked it half way and froze it. Then you can finish baking it at home. We have a pizza stone and it worked very well! The pizza itself is great - thin-crust, tavern-style pizza. The crust is not paper thin and crunchy, like others I have had, but it has really good flavor and the crust is one of my favorite parts. They must put butter on it or something. The sauce also tasted good. Next time, I want to get the pizza with extra sauce! We got the sausage pizza both times and I can definitely understand why their sausage is so popular. We also tried their meatball and ravioli. The meatballs were solid and the cheese ravioli were excellent! They came in a meat sauce (FYI- in case you're vegetarian). I would definitely get the ravioli again and try some of the other things on their sandwich/dinner menu! Overall, we have been very pleased with our experience and are excited to add it to our pizza rotation! read more

Amazing pizza! I was really impressed. Stopped in after going to Marz brewery. We got a large pizza to share for 3 people and 1 garlic bread order. We had a few leftover slices. The pizza was great & I was really happy with the toppings - giardiniera on pizza is amazing if you like a little spice. Garlic bread was a roll but was surprisingly good. Most people were coming in for take out so we were one of the only people sitting and waiting. They told us it would take 25 mins for order but they brought it out much faster.
