Market fish - "flounder" (yeah, right)
    Michael D.

Had a great dining experience at Philosophia last night. We opened with saganaki. Absolutely perfect! Then, I got the lemon chicken soup. Also delicious. Perfect level of acidity and even a little creamy. The main course was the pièce de résistance! I got the braised lamb shank and my girlfriend got the market fish (was supposed to be flounder, but there was NO WAY that was flounder. If it was, that was the fattest flounder ever. Regardless, it was tasty. She also got wine: Omicron white (a Greek variety). At $11 / glass, it was a great deal. She loved it. We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of being served by James, the bartender. Super nice guy. Very engaging and always helpful / timely. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great Greek food!

This place was the yummiest!! They were open on Christmas Eve, and we were in town, so we stopped in. It's in a little strip mall, so parking is very easy and plentiful. The space is pretty with lots of flowers, and there's a patio for nice days. Plus heaters when it's in between! We sat at the bar and the menu was pre fixe. The bar tender was a gem, we could've chatted all night. Service was good, our food came out promptly, and drinks were made in front of us. We both ordered fish - branzino and salmon - and both were delicious! Presentation was good, too. Overall a great experience!

The food here is fantastic! Three of us split the Mezze Lunch which is your choice of three appetizers. We had calamari, zucchini fritters, and octopus. I would get all of those again just for myself if I could. The hummus with the octopus was delicious as was the tzatziki with the fritters. For my main, I had the quinoa and burrata salad and added local shrimp. After the heavier apps, the salad was nice and light. My lunch mates both had the lamb gyro and were highly complimentary as well. Plenty of parking with indoor and outdoor seating. Will have to come back for dinner soon!

Happy hour apps! Buffalo cauliflower and flat bread sliders

Stopped in here with my mom on a Friday during their happy hour. Had truely some of the best wine and apps for such an amazing price. We had the flatbread sliders and the buffalo cauliflower. The staff was so happy it was our first time and made our experience even better than it already would have been. Can't wait to come back for date night with my boyfriend!

What a fun thing... Tasting course for all on the Mezze Menu. Or order A La Carte

Everything was authentic with top-notch service and food. Be swept away to the Mediterranean once you enter the doors. The bustling kitchen and small footprint being placed in the corner by the bathroom could have been a busy bit the food and service more than made up for it. Many different options for carnivores, vegetarians and omnivores alike. They also offered a tasting menu on the Tuesday that we went. After everything was said and done, the only problem was that we wanted to start the whole process over again and order more but we were pleasantly stiated post-meal.

If you're in Mount Pleasant and looking for a legit, Greek restaurant look no further than Philosophia! Everything was so fresh, tasty and they are located close by to Whole Foods with great outdoor seating. We made sure to try their Mezzi Dish, which came with 3-different dipping options (you can choose from many options) and a side. You can't go wrong with the fried zucchini, so tasty! For the main we tried the pan seared Salmon, it was grilled to perfection and was served on a butternut squash with couscous, shaved Brussels sprouts and mushrooms, SO good. The service was great, I highly recommend giving them a try!

First time dining experience. It was crowded so we were glad that we made reservations which is highly suggested. Great service. David had some great suggestions and made our family dinner very enjoyable. The food was excellent. Everything was so good. My favorites were the Spanakorizo and the whole Bronzino. The portions were large enough to share amongst the 3 of us. There is plenty of parking. Outside dining is available but to cold for us to try.

Outdoor dining with shade, fans & misters. Nicely done!

This was my third dining experience at Philosophia. Needed to review to give it the 5 star rating it deserves. We keep coming back because it's consistent. The food is always delicious with a variety of options. Flavors are amazing! The hostess is kind & welcoming, always. Our waiter was great. Can't remember his name. Very helpful with the menu, attentive and kind, professional yet not uptight. The kids ordered from kids menu & were happy. We ordered 2 salads & 3 small plates to share. I had a lemoncello cocktail, Prosecco, hubs had a Greek beer. All wonderful. It was plenty. They gave me a dessert for my bday which was above & beyond my expectation. Thank you for your hard work & offering the best Greek food in this area! Will be back & I'll try out your Taverna too.

    Veggie gyro

First time, I love trying new places. I ordered a veggie gyro which contains eggplant and chick peas on a warm pita!!! Wow-wee-woo! So yummy. My body was craving veggies and this hit the spot. My fried who is picky eater got the lamb gyro and he was picking...the meat and stuffing from the pita. His mouth was full and he was still picking! My picture looks messy because I was chowing down!

Tried the newish happy hour at Philosophia in Mt. Pleasant with some friends a couple of weeks ago. We shared some appetizers and enjoyed some cocktails while sitting at the bar. Pictured is what we ended up sharing: * Salmon Tartare served with fried pita chips. Generous portion and very tasty. * Roasted Oysters - oysters roasted and topped with Spanakopita, and a very rich Lemon Buerre Blanc. These were my favorite thing we ordered! * Saganaki - the flashy appetizer that is made with Kefalograviera cheese, panfried and flambéed with Brandy. It's fried cheese, so of course it was good! * Dirty Martini - they have a little twist on their dirty martini as its made with kalamata olives instead of your standard green olives. I really love all olives, so I thought it was delicious. * Glass of the happy hour Greek white wine The service started out good, but the bartenders seemed to focus on the main bar area and kind of ignored the smaller side area (where we were sitting). It took us a while to get their attention to tab out. Other than that, it was a good time!

Overall: Near 5-star experience brought down by a likely off night service-wise. The good: Fantastic food with very few blemishes. We split a handful of apps, with the standouts being the tyropita, spanakopita, and of course saganaki. The octopus was also great, but those others felt more authentic and flavorful in comparison. Atmosphere is Greek-ish on the inside and cozy patio on the outside, and heating lamps for chilly nights. The not-so-good: Service was extremely slow, especially for a Tuesday night. The place was surprisingly full both inside and out, so maybe they were understaffed, but we had to wait far too long throughout our entire experience. Only slight on the food was the chickpea medley and mash served with the grilled octopus, which just didn't hit us right. Food/drink: 9/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 7/10

We were surprised when we walked in and the bar was actually low, with low, spinny bar seats. But it actually was pretty unique and fun! Our server was excellent and gave us great recommendations. We started with the Stella's Kalamari that had sun-dried tomatoes, capers, and artichoke hearts. It was very flavorful and delicious. Something to keep in mind here is that the portions are pretty large. Perfect for splitting dishes and a lot of food for your buck. The stand out dish for me was the spanakopita. It's a flaky, crispy pastry with spinach and feta inside that you dip in tzatziki. What's not to love about all of that?? We splurged a bit on our entree and split the braised lamb shank. The lamb itself was pretty good, but what I enjoyed most was the pasta it comes with. I would maybe suggest trying a different entree. It wasn't my favorite, but it was good. For drinks I got the Cretan, which had cucumber infused gin, lime, rosemary and thyme. It was so refreshing and just what I wanted. I will definitely be coming back here and recommending it to others!

We started off with cocktails and ordered the octopus and mushroom saganaki to start. Both dishes were flavorful and tasty. I ordered the pikilia platter for my entree. Everything was good but the souvlaki was too heavy on the salt. My husband was going to get a steak. Our server, Katrina, told him that there was no steak special that evening but the chef had a pork chop taking its place as a nightly feature. He thought the description sounded good so he ordered it. He was very happy with his meal. When the bill came, he said "good thing I liked that pork chop. It was $50!" In the restaurants defense, he should have asked for the price before he ordered. We just never in our wildest dreams imagined a pork chop entree would come out to $50. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. It isn't really fair to compare this to the Richmond location. In all honesty, if this was my first Stella's meal and I had nothing to compare it to it would be an easy 5 stars. We will no doubt return but will ask how much the special is in the future.

We sat outside so we walked to that outside bar with the friendly, efficient, effective server. We also ordered food, the Butcher's Burger and a set of single ribs with your choice of sauces. Unfortunately the ribs were overcooked and thus tough to bite off and then bit chewy. The burger was quite good, with cheese and sliced pork belly to upgrade any usual burger, but this meat was thick and also had slight bit of tomato jam. Other than the underwhelming, overdone preparation of the ribs, it was a good time for all as people came and went. IMPORTANTLY, on this date, they were selling cooked oysters in small groups ALL YOU CAN EAT (when's the last time you heard that?) for $30.
