For those who remember Sermet's, the newly opened Vinea now occupies that familiar spot on Daniel Island. Since the island doesn't have many upscale dining options, I truly appreciate Vinea stepping up to offer an elevated experience . The interior remains unchanged from the Sermet's days , same bar layout, same table setup , which brings a sense of nostalgia. Many of the same servers and bartenders have also stayed on, and they continue to deliver excellent service with warmth and professionalism. The menu has a distinctly European influence, and while everything sounded appealing, nothing quite wowed us in execution. We ordered the mozzarella tomato tower, the shrimp appetizer special, the pork tenderloin stroganoff, and the tenderloin medallions entree special . Unfortunately, the dishes lacked depth and flavor. The shrimp appetizer was bland, more reminiscent of boiled shrimp in a light broth than a thoughtfully composed starter. Both pork tenderloin entrées also fell flat and could have benefited from more seasoning or creative touches. Adding a splash of balsamic vinegar helped a bit, but overall, my stroganoff dish was underwhelming , I even left more than half behind. On a sweeter note, the Nutella creme brulee was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal : rich, creamy, and perfectly executed. I recognize that Vinea is fairly new, and I'll absolutely give them another try in the future. The service and atmosphere are great foundations; I just hope the kitchen finds its rhythm and elevates the menu to match the vision of upscale dining on the island. read more

I recently had the chance to visit Vinea with a couple coworkers. It was an enjoyable evening. We sat outside in the courtyard, which was very nice. The service was great, as was the food. The short rub was so tender it fell right off the bone. I'll definitely be back and recommend others check this place out. read more

The Hungry Detective was so excited to investigate this location and thrilled to be the first one to review as well on this platform... Just let me start by saying that Vinea replaced Sermet's an old Daniel Island fine dining staple that I was quite fond of, but I must say Vinea has exceeded all of my expectations when it comes to fine dining on Daniel Island!!! I sat at the bar and Sara was so attentive and wonderful...she makes the best Manhattan and knows her stuff and a true rock star!!! We were greeted by Kelly the owner and such a gem. ATMOSPHERE: The first thing I noticed that there are hints of Sermet as you see art masterpieces adorn the walls and the courtyard is open and filled with customers. CUISINE: The new menu is a breath of fresh air, along with daily specials (e.g. Weiner Schnitzel, gnocchi and other fine options) ...I went with the pork stroganoff after Sara helped with my dilemma between the braised short ribs and was incredible tasting...the plate was clean and that never happens...it was that good...simple but elegant!!! My deputy had the Salmon over risotto and it was over the top and cooked to perfection!!! DESSERT: So many great options but I chose an all home made by in house German Pastry chef the layered berry cake...to go and let me say this...I had to stop and take a bite...better than SEX!!! VERDICT: Nick and Kelly were both on site and have hit it out of the park with this new dining spot and doing everything to perfection and in the right way...I can only see good things happening in the future. They're truly guilty as sin for creating an awesome dining experience... I cannot wait to return in the fall. read more

I was between 3.5 and 4 stars here but rounding up because I think it will get better with time! Trying to be unbiased as I really did love Sermets and it's hard not to compare. While I didn't love the food quite as much as I have in the past, it's still a great option on Daniel Island! We ordered every app, several entrees, and most of the desserts. It seemed to be a consensus at the table that everything JUST missed the mark, would be really good with a few tweaks that hopefully they work out in time! Service was good as were drinks! read more

our second visit. first visit was shortly after they opened. this time service was up a notch (fully met expectations) and kitchen turned out our orders more quickly. not bad for having every table filled. the food quality, as previously, was excellent. we were a group of 6 and everyone was well pleased. highly recommended for a special occasion read more

Amazing food, great experience. I got the espresso martini, stroganoff, and the salted caramel cheesecake. All were incredible, but the stroganoff deserves a special mention, the portobello sauce on it was amazing. Chef Nick did excellent and was very friendly and humble! Easily makes the top of my list in Daniel's Island. read more

Brand new restaurant on Daniel Island that used to be Sermets . Great atmosphere and good service. Still working out the menu with limited menu items and a few specials. The food was very good , nice portions and reasonably priced for the area. Will definitely go back and hopefully will have an expanded menu. read more

Wonderful! We spent a fabulous Saturday evening at Vinea. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we knew we had made the right decision to come here for dinner. We were greeted by the owner who made us feel very welcome and the cozy atmosphere set the right tone. Once at the table, our waiter came right away, gave us some suggestions about drinks and appetizers and took our orders. Our cocktails arrived and were super tasty along with the Mediterranean spring rolls. For our main course, two of us had the vegetarian option - vegetable Ragu and risotto. It sounds like a pretty straightforward dish, but if not executed right, you could end up with a mushy, flavorless dish. What we were served was amazing! The vegetables were cooked to perfection and the flavor of the ragu was amazing. It had a great balance of sweetness and acidity and the risotto was creamy and also very good. The 2 other people in our group had the ribs and the pork tenderloin dishes. They also raved about their dishes and although we were all very full, we couldn't resist ordering the Nutella Creme Brûlée. We did not regret it - the Creme was perfection! Thank you to the Vinea Crew for a wonderful evening with delicious food and drinks, attentive waitstaff, lovely atmosphere and an owner who clearly knows how to run a restaurant where you feel welcome and truly enjoy your food!
