I have been going to Philomena for at least 7 years and it is the best pizza I've had in the Bay Area. I'm from St. Louis, the melting pot of pizza styles, so I have had experience. Besides the great pizza, they have an array of local craft beers on draft and in can, which I also appreciate. I also love their salads, which have freshly chopped veggies- nothing pre-chopped from a bag. The service at Philomena is top notch. Many of the servers and kitchen staff have worked there for years, which demonstrates management that cares and that staff like their jobs. I also know if something is not right with your order, they'll fix it. I feel that the staff puts a lot of effort into creating an ambiance that feels cozy and Oakland proud. I love the giant tables, stools, and bar. There are lots of televisions for sports watching and there are options to sit outside. Overall, Philomena is one of my favorite places to go in Oakland. I take out of town visitors there and can always bank on quality and delicious food. Is it a few dollars more? Sure, but to me it's worth it. Protips: join the loyalty program for free beers and zerts, park in their lot across the street if you're not a fan of street parking, bring the kids because you can bribe them with gelato and cookies, order delievery straight from their website (not DoorDash), and check out their Instagram for trivia and music events! The San Antonio neighborhood deserves this gem, so check 'em out. read more

Ordered through DoorDash. Prices on DoorDash is a little higher in person but that's given since DoorDash charges the restaurant extra. After reviewing the comments I suggest ordering directly on their website. So for the food I've ordered the 16 inch miss piggy pizza, garlic waffle parm fries, and 8pc half buffalo half garlic Thai. Let me tell you! I got the food within like 40mins from placing my order which isn't bad at all and the food came piping hot. The miss piggy pizza was so good the cheese mixed well with the pork belly and ham and green onions. Heating it back up in the air fryer made it so much better and crispy and melted cheesy lol it was pretty bomb I recommend this flavor. The garlic parm fries was ok not used to the batter of the fry but not bad. The wings tasted grilled in a way but pretty good. The pizza was the best thing though and I'll have to come in person to try it more fresh. read more

I appreciate the reply. FYI, just before writing that I was looking at takeout orders on DoorDash. At the time, most every 16' pizza was priced starting at $42 and going up. It wasn't just the pizzas, a Caesar salad was priced at around $21-22. I just checked them again, and all of those prices seem to have dropped 25%. I unfortunately do not have screenshots from a couple of days ago, but will share what I see now. Right now I'm seeing 16' gourmet pizzas in the low $30's which I agree is fine and not out of bounds. It looks like the Caesar salad is now only $16. One of two things has happened: 1. You adjusted door dash prices on your end. Or 2. The DoorDash algorithm added surge pricing. Whatever the situation is, I do not think it is ok on the customer end. If you intend for prices to be in the low 30s, that's not what I was seeing. And I didn't just look at the pizza, it was several things shockingly high. But again, right now they appear to be lower. read more

This is a local pizza spot in Oakland! My friends and I decided to come by to catch up and watch the Warriors game that they play on Tv! Since it was a Tuesday, they also had trivia night! We had called to make a small reservation since this place could get busy. The decoration was wonderful! It was all ready for Halloween. There were many beers to choose from. You're able to sample the beers as well! We ended up choosing the Hazy IPA and west coast IPA. There was a hint of a cinnamon after taste to the Hazy IPA that I enjoyed. As for the food, we chose to get the Garlic Thai Wings, Buffalo Wings, large waffle fries, and half Mushrooms and Half Miss Piggy pizza! AND BEIGNETS!!! Everything was delicious. We ordered delivery from Philomena and really enjoyed the food. They have 16" and 10" pizzas. There's lots of specialty pizzas on the menu, but we decided to do a couple of build-your-own pizzas. They also have salads and wings. Everything was very tasty. I found the outer pizza crust a bit hard, but that could have been due to the transit time for our delivery. I particularly love the Margherita pizza (which I eat too fast to ever remember a picture) and extra crispy classic buffalo wings. Their blue cheese is AMAZING, and I always order extra for later. They don't let you make substitutions on their specialty pizzas but you can always make your own however you like and it turns out amazing. (Which is what is advertised on website and DoorDash) my husband had to drive back and ended up getting the money back. You can literally buy a 5$ bag of tots and make it really the bomb. I've been coming here for a few years now thanks to my Roomate for telling me about this place. They have some of the best pizza ever I love their wings. The service is always super good. Philomena's is great. We're in Berkeley otherwise we'd get pizza every week. Still, I'm always surprised it's not as far as it seems in my head (once I get on 24). Friendly small-pub vibe. Our family loves their pizzas (kids like plain pie; I love the Garlic Garden).
