First time in. They just got their wine and beer license a few days before. Back in the day an Italian restaurant occupied this spot. Then came Capullo, a mexican restaurant. This place occupies the Bar area of the old Capullo while another outfit occupies the old lounge area. 6 big screens in the bar area and another 9 in the back room. We just had drinks tonight but the menu looks great and we saw food other people ordered. Well update the review when we try the food.

First timer craving a burger without the long wait at other Park St burger joints. They serve a yummy burger on a sourdough roll, nice, crisp fries. Not cheap at $20, but I took half home. Nice selection of beer on tap. I hear the pizza is very good. Service was extremely friendly. If I were BP management, I'd try to bring back the little league families that used to crowd this place when it was Linguini's most nights. Pass out flyers and giftcards at the games! You can pack a lot of people in that back room. Right now, it's a bit of a ghost town on a Friday night.

So MANY great pizza creations! All were delicious!

Being very familiar with Alameda, was curious when I saw a post referring to "Ballpark-Alameda". Did some quick research and found out it's a fairly new restaurant/bar located on Park Street in Alameda. My group was looking for a place to watch the SDSU hoops game, and decided to check it out. It's in the old Linguinis building, and coincidentally enough, the previous Linguins manager, Shadi, is a part owner here now! Arrived at 3pm on a Saturday, and was pleasantly surprised with the dozen plus 75" TVs to view sports. We were greeted by Adam, who set us up and made sure the game we wanted to watch was in front of us. The menu was awesome with hearty appetizers, delicious sandwiches, and multiple pizza creations....with even a build your own option! We ordered beer on tap, but they also had cans, ciders, and wines, as well as non-alcoholic options. For appetizers, we had the feta fries with honey, and garlic bread with asiago....which was a perfect start! We all ordered pizzas, and I ordered the Sea Breeze pizza which was pesto, cheeses, and shrimp (hold the red onions for me). It was delicious! Shadi was in the kitchen, and everything that came out was incredible! Both Adam and Shadi checked on us throughout our stay. Their customer service is top notch! If this was a soft opening.....they will KILL it on the Grand Opening on March 4th for sure! Do yourself a favor, and check out Ballpark Alameda.....you will be glad you did!

Lots of TVs and pizza was delicious. Service is wonderful! Will be back! Great local place to watch the game

Crispy outside and soft inside. Delicious.

I think this place was opened about two months ago and I usually get my orders take out. Combination pizza and chicken wings were delicious. Especially the chicken wings are probably one of the best in Alameda. Next time I will try hamburger or something else. Looking forward to it.

Incident: My party of 7 came to Mad Oak around 5pm on Monday evening, 7/20. I did not have my ID on hand as I didn't realize I needed it for entry. I was not planning to consume alcohol. The staff member in charge of the outdoor entry let me in anyway after a little bit of friendly back and forth. One of our friends arrived later and similarly did not have their ID. The same staff member turned them away very rudely and dismissively. I went over to the staff member to let him know that our friend was with us and I also did not have my ID. He responded very rudely despite all members of our party being very respectful. He replied me saying, "What did I tell her?! What did I tell her?!", without explanation. Our friend who was turned away identifies as they/them and without explanation from the staff member, and inconsistent application of rules pertaining to ID, I suspect it might have been a situation where our friend was unfairly discriminated against for their appearance. To sum it up, it was not clear that IDs were required for entry otherwise I would have prepared my party ahead of time; the staff member inconsistently applied an already unclear rule; he did not explain why one guest was allowed and not another, even in the same party; and lastly, he was unnecessarily rude. Our whole party ended up leaving Mad Oak to go somewhere we could all be together. In my outreach to the restaurant a couple days later, I asked for a response to let me know that they have addressed the issue and there has been no response to date.

We've never seen a club/restaurant type like this, so it was really amusing to us. We wanted late night munchies so we mainly came here to check out the scene and for the pho. We got to order a couple bowls of pho, chicken wings, and fries. It felt like it took a long while for our order to get prepared, which it shouldn't because it's pho.... Once our order came, the broth of the pho bowls were just... warm? The meat took a bit to be fully cooked, and the broth was either salty (one bowl really salty), another bowl just tasted like chicken stock. I didn't get to try it personally, but I heard it was just below mid. The fries tasted like mcdonald's fries, which is a good and bad thing, but portion size was pretty hefty. I had the chicken wings and I actually liked them, it was very crispy! You can definitely feel how oily it is though. So the food overall was just eh, besides the fried food maybe. One thing that kept bothering us throughout our dining experience was that the lights would flicker to the bass of the music. It was definitely messing with our eyes lol. Otherwise, the club side seems pretty lit, but there was no one dancing on the floor on a friday night. The sound system is definitely bumping, DJ out there was playing all the bay area hip hop music, but everyone else were mainly just at the bar or tables. Not sure how the alcohol there is like, but maybe i'll revisit to party next time.

My favorite part is their collection thoughtful, balanced, complex drinks. If you want a variety of delectable old fashioneds with different spirits -- you're in luck! ---- Drinks ---- The cocktails are the main reason we keep coming back! Old Fashioned menu. They actually have several varieties and I've really appreciated how they use a different spirit for each! I won't review every single one, but you can't go wrong based on what flavor profile you want. They're all relatively sophisticated, balanced, spirit-forward, and consistently well made. The rest of the cocktail menu is equally thoughtful. Complex, creative, and well executed without trying too hard or going over the top with flavors or presentation. The food is delicious as well although we're usually just here for drinks before/after a meal. More small bites than full meals, but everything we've had has been tasty and pairs well with the drinks. We really enjoyed the empanadas; great flavor and execution. ---- Environment ---- Warm, cozy, and stylish -- but not pretentious or obnoxious. Music volume is always at a level where you can actually have a conversation, which I really appreciate! It does get busy, especially on weekends, but it's never been extreme. We've been seated immediately or only with a short wait most times. ---- Service ---- Friendly, welcoming, and attentive! Always had good experiences with the staff even when busy. Most of them have good recommendations. ---- Tips ---- Make a reservation if you can! Walk-ins are definitely possible, though you may end up sharing a larger communal table. We've done it before and honestly didn't mind. The bathroom can occasionally have a bit of a wait. ---- Overall ---- Love this place. It's become our go-to spot whenever we're in the mood for great cocktails and a relaxed evening and want a reliable experience. One of my favorite cocktail bars in Alameda.

I know better now to just order my food to-go if I crave it again. The customer service is never what you expect it to be. They will literally take your order while they are on their phone, and it doesn't feel like they acknowledge you or hear you. They also don't mention that they are ready to help you and just stare at you waiting for you to start ordering. Maybe I am picky and selective, but I usually don't approach after someone's ordering in case they need to quickly step away or finish the task they were working on -- I'm use to being called "next" or being acknowledged. They also don't give you a number or some sort of marker after they take your order, so it is easy for them to mix up orders which happened. Anyway, the food is always good and so I guess that will have to make up for the experience. The garlic noodles with salt and pepper tofu never miss and always hit. It's never too greasy or underflavored. The spicy korean wings are super good and flavorful too. Not too spicy, definitely a mildness to it, so you can handle it if you don't like something too spicy. Overall, I'd come back to pick up a to-go order, but I won't dine in person again.
