Ordered the Steak House Special 12" meal with drink and fries to go on a late run one Sunday night. Couldn't get anyone to answer the phone, so we hoped they were still there when we drove up - and they were. We had previewed the menu online so husband knew what to order, and was in and out in about 10 minutes, if that. Fries left something to be desired, but we didn't really go there for the fries. We have so been missing our Utah Philly Steak sandwiches, but this one comes so close, I think we'll get over it. :) LOTS of meat, just enough dressings. Vegetables not overwhelming. I have to give credit where credit is due. I was a little skeptical about giving this place a try, based off the location and the exterior. I decided to give it a try after reading one of the reviews. All I have to say is OMG. The cheesesteak is just what you'd want in a cheesesteak. Philly has nothing on this spot. I ordered a 6inch steak and cheese. Kept it simple. Meat was finely diced and plentiful, cheese was actual slices and not wiz, bread was perfectly toasted. These 6 inches were heavenly (wink,wink) I was only planning on having a few bites, but ended up eating the whole thing. It was just that good. Service is fast and efficient. You place your order at one window and then you pick up at the other window once your number is called. They have plenty of seating inside for those who dine in. Pass by this place often and finally decided to pay a visit, was not disappointed at all! Small little place with quite a bit of seating and 1 big television. Walk in and order off the menu on the wall right by the door. Cooking station is right to the left of the register, can watch them cook if you want. The staff is real friendly and good mannered, I was welcomed as soon as I walked in. There's a few menu items that caught my eye but went with the regular ol cheesesteak. I ordered and didn't wait 3 minutes for my food, pick it up and either sit down and eat or take it to go - they ask you right then and there. Paid $15 for the foot long combo, well worth it in my opinion. The sandwich was very good, I enjoyed it a lot. Tasted the cheese a ton, the bell peppers and onions and mushrooms are a great add on for a Philly cheesesteak. The concept of a Philly Cheesesteak is a great one. The problem is that the standard cheese steak is seriously lacking in the dressing department. Philly's makes pretty good cheesesteaks, including ones with grilled shrimp. The problem is that I want a cheesesteak on french, dressed. Philly's doesn't offer that, but they are still ok. In a city where the Po-Boy is king Philly's offers a decent sandwich for a reasonable price. If you want a sandwich, but for some reason don't want a Po-Boy, head to Philly's. read more

Have seen this place for years and love Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Decided to give this place a try. They have a wide selection from steak, chicken, gyro, and shrimp. The people working are nice and helpful. I ordered the #2 which includes steak, onions, Bell pepper and mushrooms. For the price, you get plenty food. I have to agree with Chris C; I don't know if the Philly meat is ground beef but by the time they finish grilling & chopping the "steak", the texture IS like ground beef. I've NEVER seen them put fresh meat on the grill to cook, they have a "pile" of tasteless beef to make the sandwich with & add what you want to the sandwich portion of the "pile" of meat. In town for work, had to come to Philly's. Grew up in Marrero and this place was a staple so was hitting up all my old favs. Got the big chief, nothing has changed. Same taste, same portions, completely consistent. With that said, I did have my stomach completely tore up roughly an hour afterwards and had not drank/ate prior other than some water. Take that for what its worth, perhaps I simply haven't been as accustomed to it as I used to be. My husband and I grabbed a quick lunch here, and it was a solidly decent lunch. I would give it 3 and 1/2 stars if that was an option. The meat mixture for each sandwich was pretty tasty. I found the meat-to-bread ratio seemed a bit off; the bread was too thick. The meat mixture could also have used a little more veggies (onions, mushrooms, peppers). It's not hard to make a good Philly cheesesteak but even calling what Philly's has "decent" is a stretch. The steak looks and tastes like overcooked ground beef and has no flavor. They scimp on the grilled onions and even though the store was empty they couldn't take a second to dress it evenly. Instead the scarce pieces of lettuce, the tomato and the cheese are just thrown on the not even fresh bun w the same care as a sorry fast food burger drive thru with everything hanging out the side.
