I was really happy when I went in than the restaurant because of the size didn't have a super over powering greasy food smell. There was only one other person inside so the service was fast and food was very fresh. I took the food to go and had about a 25 min ride home. When I finally got to eat the sandwich was still hot which was great. However by the time I ate it. I'm T was a little soggy too. I ordered a chicken Philly sandwich. It was good with a lot of chicken and cheese. I got it with onions peppers no mushrooms. Cause that's how I like my cheesesteaks. You have two options for size. A six or nine inch. I went with the nine inch. I'm not sure if I was just done but 6" with all of the meat would have been plenty. It ended up being a little on the salty side. The chicken was in chunks which made it a little unpleasant versus having the chicken in thin strips. At the end I enjoyed it but definitely think I would do the traditional Philly if I make it back. I would give 3.5 stars if possible but giving this place the benefit of the doubt based on other reviews and my choice of sandwich.

I love Philly cheesesteaks, and I'm also an Eagles fan, so when the Eagles were in both Super Bowls, we hosted Super Bowl parties with Philly Cheesesteaks. Well, I heard this place was in town, and I wanted to give it a try. We decided to meet here before going to watch the Street Fighter movie, eat, grab a quick drink, and then hit the theatre. I must say, Jawny's was easily the highlight of the night! Once I arrived, there was plenty of parking in the small shopping area. I walked in, and the place was clean, spacious, and extremely bright! I loved the art on the walls, and the service and people were nice and welcoming. I couldn't decide what to order, so the lady at the register broke it down: Do you like bell peppers and mushrooms? If not, go with the 215 (Philly). If you do, go with the LA Philly. I chose LA with white American cheese. I do like wiz cheese, and that's the Philly style, but I wanted to change it up that night. Off the rip, Jawny's is legit and was better than all three spots I tried in Philly. The bread was on point, the meat was fresh, the cheese was melted to perfection. I also got, I think, the mango lemonade? Whatever lemonade it was, it was fire! Lastly, the cheesesteak sandwiches are pretty big, and I only ate half. I tried one of my boy's fries, and they were good too. I highly recommend! OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

I heard a sad story that the Boo's Philly Cheesesteaks Silver Lake location was shutting down (they currently had locations in Echo Park and Koreatown), so I felt I had to pay my last respects to a place I frequented when I first moved into the area over a decade ago. Like a Tommy's burger, I craved something horribly sloppy and bad for you in every possible way, and for a time this was my go-to especially since I was able to take a casual walk to it. I'm older now and not necessarily wiser, but my body just couldn't handle it as it once did. Founded by an immigrant South Korean family by way of New Jersey, they made their way to Los Angeles to try and fill a need for authentic real cheesesteaks that any Philadelphian would proudly say "legit". Would I boo their Philly-inspired cheesesteak efforts!? PURCHASE(S) Cheese Fries Large ($7.95): A decent portion size of golden crispy crunchy steaming spud sticks with a side of hot gooey Cheez Whiz, ideally you'd scatter out the fries and pour the cheese on top of them. I was lazy and simply dunked each one into the cheese. However, you ran into the issue of your cheese solidifying which made it harder to dip your fries into it. The sandwich was stuffed to the edges of dripping hot steaming ingredients that burned the inside of your mouth if you weren't careful. Everything basically congealed as it started to cool due to its exposure to the air. All of the flavors eventually melded together with the separate flavors present when you first started devouring it. This wasn't for the faint of heart, and you may regret having eaten this monstrosity when you woke up in the morning. It was worth it! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=iojHuknmyjcxgnClXJ6pyA SERVICE I approached the outside self-service order kiosk, placed my order, and in less than ten minutes a young gentleman appeared from inside with my order in hand as he called out my name. It was all quick and painless - thank you! PARKING (FREE): I luckily found a spot in their tiny lot (maybe six spots total). Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of parking along the main drag of Fountain Ave. and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE In its latest incarnation since the pandemic, it had become only an order kiosk system and no more indoor dining. There was a communal wooden bench outside if you wanted to enjoy your meal. However, it wasn't very inviting, and you were up against a very busy, loud intersection. There was plenty of natural lighting since you were outdoors with only the electric street lights to help you at night. There were no TVs nor background music with the exception of the buzzing vehicle traffic. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=zqh3hCvkdUmGekZj-SBHTg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL In my homage to Silver Lake's Boo's Philly Cheesesteak location, they were a wonderful piece of the neighborhood, still one of the best Philly cheesesteaks I've had outside of Philadelphia, and I always got my money's worth. The food wasn't healthy, but it did its job and tasted very good as it went down (coming out was a different story!). The prices were affordable and comparable, the portions were hefty, the menu selection was very limited, and the service was straightforward. .Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $24.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). I've been a frequent flyer of Boo's (since I'm over in Ktown) and also quite a few orders over the years from South Philly Experience and twice from Matu (but that's a major treat and honestly way overpriced). All of these have their own great bits about them and I love all these spots. This isn't going to be a "who's better than who" since each is different in their own right and hits the spot different ways. I got the sweet pepper steak on seeded roll with of course, Cooper's! Then I got a classic Italian hoagie (with Cooper's) loaded up double meat/cheese. Biiiiig bonus using Boar's Head meats too, top shelf stuff. The fact that they're using Cooper's is a major plus and can get a seeded roll is such a nice touch. I do love a classic Amoroso, but seeded with the cheesesteak and Cooper's gives Matu a run for its money (and saves my wallet). Of course the meat quality is very different due to Matu using Wagyu but let's be real, that's really what you're paying for there. It's a nice treat but not an every other day get your money's worth. I feel I've found my favourite cheesesteak now though! The roll is super fluffy and crunchy where it needs to be. That thing was swaddled like a cared for newborn when it arrived and still hot from Melrose. Absolute 9/10 for me. The Italian was properly loaded and as I sit here enjoying it, a nice zingy break between cheesesteak bites as I split them half and half for lunch. For speed I love some Boo's, for the grill char taste I love some South Philly Experience but overall for my favourite spot now, it's Philly's Best off Melrose. Matu again is a great quality cut treat but the wait, the cost and the amount you get is not really worth it. Will absolutely be ordering from this place again in the future!!

I was able to snag the only handicap spot in the small parking lot shared between Wrap Stop and the Shawarma place next door. One of the employees gave us a menu to look at as we got ourselves situated at the small table by the door. But the one who helped us made our selections was the restaurant owner, Greg, who suggested we couldn't go wrong with any the plate options for their meats. I went with the Mediterranean Chicken plate while my dad went with the Mediterranean Beef plate with both coming with our choice of drink that the owner had grabbed for us after making our plates. The sauce that was drizzled on top of the chicken was awesome, which turned out to be a Chipotle Garlic Aioli sauce and it paired well with the veggies that were on the side. Everything was seasoned well and the serving was definitely generous that I couldn't finish it. I was really grateful he served our food in to go containers cause it made it easier to pack up our leftovers. Before we left, Greg gave us a slice of homemade Marscapone Pistachio Cream Cake that he had made for us to try since he wasn't sure if he'll keep it on the menu. He informed us that everything they served was made in house and that they even have chocolate cake slices for sale that he made too. They have only been open for about a month, but it looks like they are doing a great job with their food and service. Can't wait to go back to try the wrap versions and French baguette versions for their meats.

A lot of the reviews that drag the rating down are straight-up delivery problems, not food problems. You're already paying more than a classic NYC bodega chopped cheese (which should be like $9), then you tack on delivery fees, then your DoorDash driver stacks orders, and by the time it gets to you... you're mad. And instead of being mad at the situation, people take it out on the restaurant. That's not on them. Here's a practical reason your tots aren't crunchy when you order delivery: the containers don't have ventilation holes. Steam builds up. Soft tots are inevitable. Either they start punching holes in every box, or you accept your fate ‍. This is another reason to eat it fresh. Inside, it's simple--walk up, order, wait. It looks like a bodega, just about ten dollars more. But if you're there in person, there's actual customer service.
