When this place came up on Yelp I just about pulled the ebrake on my rental. It is nestled in an industrial park so was a tiny bit elusive but worth the find. I've been living in this area for so long and just found out about it this week. I saw a Facebook article covering this business from many years ago and immediately came to try it the next day. The service was impeccable. The speed of the food is so fast I audibly said "wow". You can hear the chef cook your food, chopping the steak, and within a few minutes (I'm talking like less than 5) it is out to you. I would not put Philly Ya Belly on my favorite cheesesteak list. It was a large portion for a small size sandwich, very soft bun that was stuffed with finely diced meat and tons of diced onions, swimming in a pool of white American cheese (consistency of cheese whiz). The bun helped hold it all together as did the cheese. It was hot but primarily got the flavor of the onions and cheese. For anyone from the Midwest, it reminded me of a White Castle cheeseburger. I prefer a toasted roll (which maybe was the French bread option), the meat in bigger pieces, a lot less onions and real, sliced cheese (again, perhaps the $1 provolone option). $8.99 for the sandwich with no options, so not inexpensive. Service was friendly and prompt. Very basic interior with plastic and fluorescent lighting, but clean. read more
