I had an excellent experience with Philly Bride. I first visited in September 2019 to try dresses and while our experience with the front desk staff wasn't superb, our experience with the sales representative surpassed anything we could expect. She took her time with me and was incredibly patient when I struggled making a decision between two dresses. It may sound corny, but she did a "mental visualization" that helped me decide which dress I'd want to wear and made my mom and friend cry haha. The seamstress services provided in-house by Brenda have also been phenomenal. She was great with COVID precautions and was extremely thoughtful about my experience since I had to go alone. She put my at ease about the shape of my dress and even helped me make a last minute change the week before the wedding. Truly the best. read more

If I could rate this ZERO stars, I would, believe me. Let's go back to the day of shopping in the store. First of all, my sister doesn't even live in Philly but went to look at dresses with our other sister who lives in the area to experience wedding dress shopping together. They found a dress that the bride was happy with and was told in store that she would not have to pay extra expedite charges for shipping this dress out to LA. Then later on there are text messages going back and forth about having to pay an extra amount for shipping. WHAT? She even signed a contract with the amount specified for this dress and the total cost. Finally the situation is figured out and they tell her through text messages again that she will not have to pay the extra additional charge and everything is fine and that her dress will arrive in time for it to get alterations before her wedding date. Today my sister got an email saying that will need to charge her an extra $130 rush fee AFTER all the hassle of the text messaging situation and not only that, but this $130 charge is MORE than what they were asking for in the first place in the text messages. Words used were, "we will be adding this to your ticket just to be square." That is so unprofessional saying you need to be "square." A proper and professional business would eat the cost especially after saying they would not be charging any other additional costs. And not to mention, you know they're already getting a profit on this purchase. So $135 dollars to them is THAT important. That's called MONEY HUNGRY and not caring about the customer's experience. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. This business has ruined the experience of dress shopping for a bride-to-be. We have all the text messages as proof saying she doesn't need to pay anymore and the email they sent as well as if it was nothing that they're adding an extra charge. Philly Bride was the fourth and final wedding dress shop I visited, and by the time I got there (at 4 p.m. on a Thursday in early November), I had tried on probably 30+ total dresses at the previous three shops. Naomi was very easygoing and let my parents and I take our time browsing all the dress racks when we first arrived. She also pulled one or two dresses based on the styles I said I liked. I came to Philly Bride specifically because they are one of the few shops in this area of the country that sells Jesus Peiro gowns. They didn't have many, but as soon as I tried two and learned I could combine the bodice of one with the skirt of the other, it was a done deal. Naomi was not pushy in the slightest; even though I think it was pretty obvious that I was enamored with the two Jesus Peiro dresses, she mostly just stood back and let my parents and I "ooh" and "aah" instead of pushing the sale or rushing us to finish up. She also helped me go back and forth trying on the two dresses and then pulled a few different accessories so I could visualize how I might complete my look later on. Once I decided to buy the dress, she offered us wine and walked me through the ordering process, which was straightforward. A week or so later, I received a handwritten "thank you" card in the mail from Philly Bride congratulating me on my purchase. What a nice touch! I'm looking forward to returning to the store in the spring when my dress is delivered from overseas. I stopped in after work one evening, a year or so before my wedding, with a girlfriend. Having already been to 2-3 other bridal shops and retailers, I knew generally what I was looking for, but still managed to pull 5-6 gowns to try. Michelle, the stylist I was paired with, was so friendly and helped me try them all: we even switched back and forth between the top two contenders. When it was obvious that one was the winner (and on sale!!), we arranged to return that Saturday with mother in tow. Sister found an accessory to perfectly complement the dress and change it's styling slightly, and I was done! Months later (6?), I made my first fitting appointment with Brenda, who knew all the tricks of the trade! Throughout my three fittings, Michelle always popped in to see how I was doing and I just felt really comfortable at Philly Bride. The new space down at 3rd and Walnut is beautiful, in the grand old townhouse style. The three small cons would be (1) it's move from 13th Street, (2) the new sign, the whimsy of which simply doesn't match the elegance found within the store itself, and (3) they're not terrific emailers, so definitely call if you want a response. read more

Honestly my experience with this company was very mixed even before covid threw a wrench into my wedding dress shopping process. Before I spent any money with this company their customer service was good, and I felt supported finding my dress. They have a great selection at a higher price point but that fit within my budget. Once I said yes to the dress things took a turn for the worse. They did get my dress in on time (right before COVID happened), however my appointment to try it on and check that it was as ordered didn't go great; I spent 45 minutes waiting for any service even with my appointment without any explanation as to why/ what I was waiting for (eventually the salesperson did come to help and explained she was with a client who was late but telling me that instead of putting me in a corner dressing area with no indication on when I was going to be seen/ or any explanation until the end would have been appreciated and frankly this is not the kind of customer service one would come to expect when at a boutique of this caliber.) Additionally there was a whole hassle around alterations which, understandably may occur during Covid... that being said charging brides a fee to keep and make alteration appointments that are not part of the alteration costs without much explanation was where I drew the line (I was told multiple things from they had to get a new seamstress and that's where the cost was coming from, to they had an additional seamstress who honors their cost but you need to pay to reserve etc..) and honestly I found this to be a sad money grab when so many brides were struggling as it is (sure overall $25 dollars wasn't a huge amount but when asked where this would go they couldn't answer and said "we're doing it to help you") . Essentially, this seemed shady to me and I ultimately decided to take my dress elsewhere for alterations. Finally, I was able to get my dress, and unfortunately to my dismay it has a bunch/ bundle of unfinished threads attached to the train. Of course, when emailing them about this, I was asked if it was attached to the actual dress, and after clarifying it was, I was ignored for 3 months, and for multiple follow up emails. Ultimately, although they have great products the service goes downhill the moment you spend a penny here, and forutnatwlt there are so many other amazing bridal boutiques in Philly that have amazing customer service and products, I'd recommending taking your business elsewhere if you can. read more

If there was an option for 0 stars that would be my rating. After making an appointment I called to inquire about short dress options. I was told "we have one short dress but you probably won't like it." Who says that?! Then I was told they could alter any dress to a custom length. The next thing she said is I don't want to waste your time or mine so you should cancel but I would still be charged the cancellation fee. I told her I would see her at the scheduled appointment. I went to the appointment and was less than impressed. The unfriendly greeting set the mood for the entire experience. Basically I was told here are some dresses, have a look. The options ( long and short dresses) were limited, I tried a few and didn't find anything I liked. Additionally, my friend called them several times weeks prior to my fitting, left VMs and sent emails asking to arrange champagne for the fitting and they never responded to her. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with this unprofessional company. There are places out there that are professional, inviting, genuinely engaged and that allow pictures! read more

The selection here is not bad, it's just that the dresses look extremely old, yellowing, and a good number of them have rips in them. My issue isn't really with the dresses, but with the customer service. I had booked an appt and my schedule that day ended up freeing up, and I came in 2hrs earlier hoping they could take me on a whim. The girl at the front desk said no they could not because the sales girl was booked. I browsed the dresses and found one that I wanted to try on. I asked the girl at the front desk if she could help me try it, since they require a sales associate, she said no because she was leaving (gee I wonder if she's just here for a paycheck..). She packed up and left, and so did I, because I didn't want to wait around for my appt. I ended up buying a dress that they carried, at another boutique. I had booked an appointment here after doing some research that they were a "plus size friendly" shop. They even have on their website (which is pretty antiquated to begin with) a separate page listing plus size gowns. One of my biggest fears going into dress shopping is that I wouldn't find something that fit me, so I had even reached out in my initial booking to indicate that I have a larger bust and mentioned this as one of my concerns. Upon arrival, I was sick with nerves, and I was introduced to my consultant (I believe her name was Jen). I mentioned how nervous I was. When I realized I would be trying dresses on right in the front of the store (many of which didn't fit, zip, or close, so I was fairly exposed) my nerves increased, but I decided to carry on in hopes of finding a dress I loved. We pulled a few dresses - including several outdated styles I indicated I was not interested in, but was told "I've been doing this for years and know what will look good"- and took them into the dressing room. I tried on several dresses, and felt like I was constantly being sold to, not taking into consideration anything I mentioned I liked or wanted. However, she did offer some suggestions for customization on a few of the dresses, but then remembered, even though we explicitly discussed the wedding date at the start of the appointment, that we only had 5 months and she told me nothing could be done to help me since there's not enough time. After being uncomfortably shoved into several dresses that didn't fit, in a tiny, hot room (several comments were made about the AC not cooperating), with someone who just didn't relate to me on any level, I decided to end the appointment. I left the shop in tears. I almost canceled the other appointments I had that day because this was such a miserable disappointment, but I am so glad I didn't as I ended up finding a wonderful dress at a different shop later that day, with a wonderful consultant who did everything in her power to make me feel beautiful. It's worth noting that many of the dresses in this second store did not completely fit me either, but the consultant knew exactly how to handle the situation professionally, finagling the different dresses in different ways so I could get a clear picture of how it would look on my body. If you are plus size, do yourself a favor and avoid this shop. I feel that they are deceiving people by saying they can accommodate this type of body. read more

I apologize in advance for the lengthy review, but Jen was AMAZING! (and yes I posted this on Google Reviews too) This was my very first bridal appointment and I am so glad it was with Jen! Jen was amazing from the second we walked in the door to the second the appointment was over. She greeted me by name, and welcomed my guests as well as offered a beverage! Jen took her time to get to know my style and helped me to identify some dresses I might like as well as giving me some time to look by myself. When it was time to try on dresses, Jen educated me on options, talked about likes and dislikes and pulled additional dress as we ruled out different things. Jen made me feel good about how I looked in each gown and was really great at picking dresses that flattered me! (I had a second appointment that afternoon, and I'm not sure if they aren't good at their job, or if Jen set the bar too high but I had a new appreciation for my experience at Philly Bride after my second appointment!) The shop had so many options and I loved every dress I tried on, but unfortunately didn't get 'the feeling' yet. I'm super picky and like to weigh 1000000 options before making choices. Also, unfortunately there were not many long sleeve options, and that is what my heart is currently set on. The store was very well kept and the dresses were all very clean. Again not something I would have noticed if I didn't have the second appointment. The second shop I went to the dresses were very dirty, and the lace was fuzzy from pulls. In hindsight, Philly Brides dresses were in pristine condition in comparison!! Leaving Philly Bride Jen gave me a hug, I felt great, and was ready to invite Jen to the wedding! Don't bother, they probably won't show up for your appointment. My friend had an appointment yesterday evening and they closed the boutique without informing us. The appointment had been booked for months and several bridesmaids were coming in from out of town. At 11am the day of, my friend received a voicemail to confirm her appointment. She promptly called back to confirm and left a voicemail with the boutique, then tried to call throughout the day because she had questions about the appointment. Yet, she never reached a salesperson. Low and behold, when we arrived at the storefront, it's dark and the door is locked. To make it worse, they called her today to say they closed "because of the snow" and LIED that they had left her a voicemail explaining the situation. There was no voicemail, no missed call, no email, and there was barely any snow. Oh wait, it gets better. Then a saleswoman accidentally called my friend and she overheard the employees mocking her as they were clearly unaware her number had been dialed. In what world is this an acceptable way a treating a customer? No less, a customer that you've recently screwed over. Their consolation? "Come in alone today" Are you kidding me? I would say my experience here was the best and I live all the ah in Central Jersey and have been to 10 stores before this one and NOTHING compared to the experience I had here! 5 stars to Philly Bride all the way around!! I came for my appointment today with my mom, future MIL and SIL. Immediately when entering the salon, I was nervous that everything would be out of my price range..however, Jen not only listened, but actively looked to help accommodate my budget. The first dress she pulled for me off the rack I could almost feel her energy (which as a nervous bride, put me at ease). She began showing me pieces which might be a part of an upcoming trunk show (meaning I could get them at a slightly reduced price) and even grabbed different top and bottom pieces which could be put together to create a dress. She literally went above and beyond to help me find something I could afford in the store! Anyway, while I was trying the dresses on, I felt like I got to see more of her personality and I complimented her that she seemed like a "very direct" individual, which I loved! The selection of dresses were great and it was awesome to have such a personalized experience being one of only two brides in the shop. She listens to your ideas and preferences and steers you in the right direction. I actually ended up choosing a gown that I was not interested in at first. But Jen is honest and very encouraging to work with, so with a little gently persuasion she zipped me into the Badgley Mischka "Brooke" and sure enough, it was love at first sight! They also have the BEST seamstress that will do all the fittings for you. With my buys schedule she was always able to stay late or come in on a weekend to make sure we got all the alterations done on time. I had a great experience at Philly Bride. I came with my sister and three friends, so it was a large crew, and Naomi was so accommodating and friendly. She and allowed us to look through the dresses and choose ones we liked based on my style, and then provided wine for myself and my friends while they got comfortable on the couch. When trying on dresses she was professional, sweet, and helpful. She offered her guidance and opinions which were very appreciated, and she was supportive of our opinions and requests. When you arrive, the reception staff are friendly. My bridal consultant was friendly as well, though not the most attentive. Philly Bride kicked-off my sister's "wedding dress shopping" extravagaza at 4pm last Friday. We're a small group, my sister, my Tia Grace (from CA) and myself made up the entire party, which fit well with the boutique's space. The actual store is gorgeous, it's located in an older -what I assume to be converted- house but is beautifully, and efficiently, organized. Our consultant, Julie greeted us at the door and led us to the back seating area to get my sister's "wish list." This was my sister's first experience trying on wedding dresses, and Julie was patient as my sister discussed what she thought she'd like based on the photos in the bridal magazines she brought. After the consultation, my sister and Julie went to the racks to pull selections. Julie listened to my sister's criteria and was completely honest when the dress was pinned - my Tia and I didn't even get to see one dress since my sister and Julie had decided it wasn't worth showing. My sister eventually landed on a gorgeous dress that was 50% under her budget, but being the first salon she did not want to commit too soon. At the end of the extravaganza, our group had visited six salons across the greater Philadelphia area (as far out as Bucks Co!), and looking back Philly Bride was one of the top experiences. I had a lovely experience at Philly Bride. I arrived early for my 11:15am appointment, and after a brief jaunt to the garden across the street, Jen offered to let me and my mother take a peak at the dresses as she finished up with another client. Compared to the bridal store I had been to the day before, there was a much broader selection of dresses and so many beautiful options. Wine in hand, Jen helped us find an array of dresses to try on--including the one in the window, which ended up being "the dress". I don't have enough good things to say about Jen--she made the entire experience so much fun and was completely truthful with me about which styles were more complimentary vs. just didn't do it for me. She is a pro (former Kleinfeld consultant) and knows what she's doing. In terms of pricing, it seemed on par with other bridal shops. The dress I chose ended up being right in-line with my budget (ever so slightly over); Jen was sure to point out which dresses were more expensive and steered us towards the dresses that were in my range. After the fact, I ended up changing my mind about which color dress I wanted (gold vs. ivory) and the staff at Philly Bride was so accommodating. Thank you Philly Bride! read more

I was FLOORED to find out that you cannot take photos in this bridal store. I have been to nearly a dozen stores across LA and NY and ALL have allowed me to take photos of dresses. This is essential for cross country wedding planning and comparing dresses - not to mention seeing how you look in your dress in photos. I had a fantastic experience at this very lovely store. It's in a beautiful building (an old bank, with the bank vault still in tact) and the various changing areas and pedestals are cordoned off from each other so you get your own personalized experience. The entire staff is friendly and encouraging, but without the B.S. Michelle, my consultant, was warm and professional and was better than any other consultant I've ever had. She was quite skilled at getting a read on my personality and what I wanted in a dress. I appreciate how she didn't waste my time and instead was genuine and to-the-point. Overall I had a great experience here, and yes I did say "Yes to the dress!" When we first arrived my wedding party and another wedding party entered at the same time. Our group was less attended to than the other group. The other group of women were immediately ushered to an area and began looking at dresses. Our group stood there for a few minutes with no direction on what we should be doing. After a few minutes Cindy came over and began helping us, and from that point on it was a wonderful experience. I felt like Cindy understood what I was looking for (even though I wasn't sure what I was looking for). She knew what my body type was and only showed my dresses that were appropriate for my body. What an incredible experience!! Philly Bride was our final stop in what felt like a wedding dress shopping tournament, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. From the moment I walked in with my group, we were welcomed with warm arms and a feeling of excitement. We had our own area in the back of the salon, equipped with a beautiful, large mirror, and seats for my friends & family. The salon was totally okay with my group walking around and checking out all of the dresses (the salon before us didn't let my group leave our fitting area, was NOT pleased with that)...having my group feel like they were really included in the buying process was important to me. My stylist took me around the showroom, asked me what I was looking for, showed me some dresses, and ultimately picked out 4. While in the dressing room, she made me feel comfortable, and she affirmed all that my family was feeling when I walked out in THE dress and just kept telling me how I looked stunning. She helped pick out the veil, and allowed me to try on some accessories to get an idea of what kind of jewelry I would wear.
