I recently attended the Social Dance Night. Little history about my social dance experience. I have gone to a Salsa dance event elsewhere about 20 years ago and this stranger guy was inappropriate with me and I was traumatized. So I am a total beginner and didn't know what to expect. Thankfully, people and instructors were very nice and I actually had a great time learning Cha Cha, Samba, Bossa Nova, etc. At least I "tried to learn" Bossa Nova which was way too complicated for this first timer with limited coordination but Phill and Kim were great at instructing different moves and they made it fun. Came here on a Tuesday night for a salsa class. They were offering a 50% off special on a series of 4 classes, so a friend and I figured, why not? We had a great time! The class only had 3 others (my friend included) but the teacher acted as a guy and there was another guy (half of the couple) and we rotated constantly. It would have been kind of nice to have a bigger class but we did move pretty quickly because there were so few of us, which I liked. I am a former instructor of Phill's Ballroom. I worked there for 4 years and enjoyed every second of it. OC R reviewer is a disgruntled employee who was fired for tardiness, not showing up to work, and incompetent teaching skills. He was also let go from his previous studio for the same reasons. I have never had a problem with Phill or the studio. The pay was good and we were always paid on time. I never knew of any shady things happening. Phill's is a family-oriented small studio and he cares about his students as well as his employees. I can't believe someone would take the time to write such a false and hurtful review. read more

My now husband and I decided to take waltz lessons really last minute (less than a month before!) for our February wedding to impress the crowd. And were we successful? YES!!! And this was mainly due to Kim from Phill's Ballroom Dance Studio. Kim is AWESOME. She is super kind and patient, really taking the time to teach you all the moves and then reviewing it with you until you feel confident. She also records you and your partner so that you can practice at home and not waste time for the next lesson. She was also really understanding because I was always so sleepy and truthfully grumpy since I work the night shift. And I slept for only three hours and then I would have the waltz lessons. And every day, I really was not in the mood.... I was forced by my husband to attend! But really, it was all worth it in the end because our wedding dance was honestly, wonderful. The guests loved it. They cheered for us when we did our cool lift and turn. And my father thought we were amazing and the dance? "Beautiful." Phill is extremely patient and encouraging even when it is apparent that my husband and I did not practice at home. We came expecting to learn a few dance moves for our daughter's upcoming wedding and Phill had exceeded our expectations. He gladly worked around our busy schedules, did not use high pressure sales tactics and made the dance experience fun with his humor and expertise.
