My journey with RF dance studio began earlier this year. I had been in search of a new dance studio after ending my lessons at a ballroom dance studio. I was in search of a similar setting, but also aimed to save money. Through group on I had bought passes and tried several classes with various Social Salsa and Bachata groups with out the quality that i was looking for, they all taught combos and broke down the steps primarily focused on the leads role. I felt as a fallow we were there just as learning tools for the leads which was very disappointing. There is so much more to being a follow, and so much more to dancing then just learning the steps. RF was next on my list, I had been following them and a friend invited me to a social dance at the studio. I met Mike for the first time, was a great host, extremely welcoming and friendly. He invited me back to the studio with a complimentary pass for a fee trial class. My first day I arrived to observe a class so i could watch and get a feel for the studios tone. What caught my eye was Mike's attention to detail! His perfectionism during a fundamentals class, in addition to his explanation of body mechanics, body alignment, posture, turn out, hip rotation etc. He saw his students as individual dancers! During group class The combos were broken down for the leads as well as the follows! The spoke about tension, connection.... where is the lead taking you you and how to follow the lead properly. The emphasis and importance of a follow keeping her frame. Finally, my search was over! An affordable studio that upheld quality and professionalism starting with the owner and transcending throughout all the instructors. I have met great people and amazing dancers at all levels. Such great vibes here that my 13 and 15 yr old started taking classes drawn in by Kike's cumbia class, branching out to Geraldo's bachata shines class... and now venturing into salsa. My daughter is super excited to try Amelia's Salsa on2 heals class, which I love! My daughter was very shy at first, but they have taught her how to be confident and she loves coming to dance because they make it very comfortable and fun for them to learn. Everyone is very nice from the moment you walk in. I'm extremely happy my mom found this dance class for my little one I couldn't have asked for another place but here. Instructors are knowledgeable and they do offer good feedback for the students. You get to see regulars come every week and will likely meet nice people! They have a bunch of basics and foundational classes for newbies. I've only been part of RF for a little over a month. And it has been one of the best experiences and decisions I've made. I've never been a dancer or even thought about dancing but the community here is so welcoming there is no way you cannot stay. All the teachers are very knowledgeable and supportive of one's journey on becoming proficient at dancing. Currently taking Cumbia and Fitness classes and both are exceptional! I think if there was something more than five stars this place deserves it They have great instructors who know what they're doing and above. I see TVs with high quality video production of past events and people having a good time IN THE STUDIO. What separates this place from other studios is the amount of drills and exercises you do to form the best technique possible. Most places kind of just steam roll the routine in the beginners classes and never really go into detail of how to properly do the steps. It's a friendly environment where staff and members also make you feel welcome. I see everyone getting along and enjoying the classes together. Personally I've been to other places that I wouldn't say are bad, but they mainly focus on signing you up and making you feel good to keep coming back. Again it isn't bad, but if you're a lead and you go social dancing and don't know how to properly lead then you're most likely going to feel annoyed that you invested a lot of time learning improper form. Also I've been to some places where you pay to be intermediate when you're not intermediate and still let you in which ends up making you feel you've learned everything correctly when you really haven't. With this place I've cleaned up a lot of bad from which has definitely made a difference going out when you're not being told what to do in a class environment. I don't feel like I look so robotic and stiff with the new habits I've been forming, but I know that I can still improve with more practice in the classes they offer. It's easy to see the schedule of what's going on for the day because they use a website that shows the schedule each day. At the moment I'm writing this review I've always seen multiple classes going on at the same time. So you can choose an introduction class or an intermediate class. I've found the introduction classes can still also be as challenging as the intermediate as well, but not intimidating where you feel like the instructor isn't paying attention to you. Which is what I find key because again like I said earlier a lot of other places tend to see you doing steps incorrectly and just let you form bad habits because they want you to feel good being there more then do the steps correctly. For me I personally like the Cumbia class the most HANDS DOWN! I wish they had more days of Cumbia because that is what caught my eye about this place. The instructor Enrique brings a fun and energetic environment to the class. I don't know how he keeps going because he's always counting the steps, always vocalizing what's going on, and keeps going even when he's obviously out of breath. For me my apple watch shows that I burn the most amount of calories in that class over all the other classes. So if you also want to have a good workout the Cumbia class will definitely challenge your cardiovascular endurance. read more

Instructors are carefully selected and are experienced as shown by their attention to students, the way they ask for feedback, and the way they answer questions. They are receptive to any question, for them really, no question is too small and I really appreciate how approachable they are. If you are up for a challenge, I recommend you join their dance teams. My wife and I have joined their bachata and salsa teams and we loved the experience. We learned to improve our dancing, developed the courage to perform on stage, and also built community with our team members. This has been an extremely rewarding experience that I recommend everyone to try at least once. RF dance directors are patient, professional, motivating, and committed to their dance teams. It took me a long time to find a place where I can learn the fundamentals and basic steps to enjoy dancing bachata and salsa. I love to go social dancing every weekend but some time ago I wasn't able to lead girls on the right way. After been consistent with all my lessons I am enjoying of new dance skills. I've been coming to Rf for exactly a year now. I initially came on a whim not knowing at all what I was getting myself into. I had just gotten out of a 7 year long relationship, and quite frankly I didn't know what to do with myself. It had been years since I invested my time In doing something for just me. I felt like my life was falling apart and needed something to just get me up and out of bed and feel good about myself again. Without getting into more details long story short this placed changed my life not only when I most needed a positive change but also when I least expected it. I was just looking for an extra curricular activity to get me out of this funk I was in at the time and boy let me tell you, I was now motivated, inspired, smiling again, and actually looking forward to going to class once a week when I first started. Now I go regularly about 3-4 times a week trying out the different classes they had to offer and even found myself joining their performance team after a few months of attending Rythmic Fusion. I auditioned for RhythmicFUSION Dance directed by Mike Zuniga for the spring 2016 season, I was extremely nervous about going into a new place where I didn't know anyone, but I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming and kind everyone on the team was. It definitely was one of the deciding factors that made me want to continue to learn and stay with RF Dance in addition to their amazing performance teams, and work ethic. For me its totally worth the drive from Montebello to Costa Mesa, and I wouldn't trade my experiences for anything. I only had a few months of experience dancing bachata when I decided to join RF , but I was able to learn so much by participating on the team, taking monthly workshops offered, as well as weekly classes, and private lessons. You really can't beat the prices Mike offers to be a part of the team with all that is included. I have grown tremendously as a social dancer and a performer, being able to perform at main festivals to small clubs and having all your hard work pay off is a gratifying feeling. I also went from dreading social dancing and hiding to loving it and being confident enough in my dancing to ask others to dance. I decided to enter L.A.'s top bachata social dancer competition for amateurs at The Granada this past year , where I was a finalist in the competition. This was one of the highlights of my year and was a great accomplishment for me; I can't wait to do it all again. I definitely attribute my success as a social dancer to Mike Zuniga , who helped me establish stronger technique, and helped me break some bad dance habits, along with his dance partner Jennifer Silvas. Mike is an amazing, gifted dancer and choreographer, and his Bachata skills are amazing. He is also a fantastic teacher, a consummate professional, and truly one of the nicest people I've ever known. This is a great all-ages place to learn how to dance and socialize! The socials on Tuesdays are AWESOME and they play some great music! (not just the regular 3 bachata bands that you hear at some other places) It's a great atmosphere and a lot of fun to hang out. They offer $10 lessons at 9pm and they're always really helpful. I've learned a lot from Mike, Serena, and Tanya over the past 8 months that I've been going. Parking is good. There's free parking in the front and additional parking in the back or across the street at the bank. The only thing I might change would be the cheesy green lasers that flash on the floor. The way he explains the steps or moves to me in detail helps me to understand how the move should be performed. RF Dance is one of the best studios to check out if you're interested in learning bachata & salsa or maybe stepping up your game on the dance floor. I've taken classes with different instructors and I can tell you that RF Dance is definitely unique. Everyone is very warm & welcoming as you come in. You definitely get a sense of "family" when you walk in. They have different levels depending on where your abilities are at but I can tell you that one of my favorite things here is that the amazing instructors genuinely care. All of them are so friendly and willing to work with you or answer a question that you have during class. For the price, it's amazing how many classes & workshops you can attend. The head honcho Mike Zuniga is truly a phenomenal dancer. Even with his extraordinary dancing abilities, he is still humble to the core and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students and their growth. There is nothing more you can ask for from a dance company. It's not just as simple as learning how to dance. To start off you absolutely feel welcome from a the moment ui walk in by at least a dozen smiling faces that recognize you as a new person. Next, you are free to join the level you are at in both bachata and salsa when taking classes. (Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced). I was drawn in after one class, but in case you are hesitant, they have events throughout the week, both as classes and social events that invite you to continue coming and losing some of that initial shyness. But the best part of all is joining the team!! The support you receive from every single instructor and fellow teammates it's second to none! It's a FAMILY! The better you do as an individual, the better the team does. NOTHING beats the rush of going up on stage for very first time, yet every performance after still gives you that adrenaline rush that drives you. I look forward to that every day at this point!
