    Hard stick candy (23 flavors!)
    Robert M.

While visiting Seaside, Oregon I wandered upon a candy store named Phillips Candies. Having a sweet tooth, that I unsuccessfully try to deprive, I just had to see what they fad inside. I was amazed, and even amused, at the selection of delicious, amusing, nostalgic, and incredible candies that were available! There were candies from my childhood, from my nightmares!, and from my dreams. I noticed that a good amount of the candy was made in-house and, all the candy I was brave enough to try, was excellent. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the store was clean and orderly.

Oh my gosh there's so much good stuff in here it's definitely worth the stop! They have lots of candy options as well as a huge assortment of chocolates. I ended up getting a milk chocolate haystack, a white chocolate snowball, and a peanut butter bar. The haystack was delicious and I recommend getting some of you love coconut! The snowball wasn't exactly my cup of tea. The outside was covered in coconut but the big ball it was covering tasted like a big ball of white chocolate fudge. A little too rich for me without much payoff in my mouth. The peanut butter bar was the best chocolate I've ever had though!! It was a small piece, sort of like a snack sized version of a candy bar you see around Halloween time. But anyways, it had a thin layer of milk chocolate and then the inside was a fluffy and airy peanut butter flavored chocolate! Closest thing I can compare it to would be a 3 musketeer bar with that same type of whipped chocolate except peanut butter flavored!! As someone who absolutely LOVES peanut butter, this was seriously amazing. Next time I visit seaside I'm going to get a bag full of those peanut butter bars! 10/10 you have to try them!! The workers were super friends as well. It's a great spot, great atmosphere, and has tons of choices between their candy and their chocolates. My mouth is watering just thinking about those peanut butter bars!

    Newly added, fresh gelato machines!

Sure, it's all expensive, but so is every store at the coast. It looks nice inside, spacious and clean. They have a great selection of candy, chocolates, popcorn and ice cream flavors. They also recently added fresh gelato machines!! The only downside is they use styrofoam cups instead of paper for the gelato. Not too eco-friendly but not bad enough to lessen my rating. The outstanding factor was the service. Everyone was so helpful and friendly.

Piece of Dark Chocolate Seafoam and Dark Chocolate Pecan Cluster.

We were greeted as we made our way in to the store. I noticed a few tables along the front window to sit and enjoy a drink as I saw they do make coffee drinks and hot chocolate. We traveled along the back wall which had candy that could buy at almost any store. As we made our way back around to the front we stopped to look at the house made treats that the lady assured us were all made in house. Fudge, chocolates, truffles, popcorn etc. Chocolates were priced just under $20/lb. We opted for two pieces of seafoam (one milk, one dark) a chocolate covered oreo and a pecan cluster. For the four pieces it came out to just under $6. It was our first time experiencing seafoam...it wasnt bad, but not what I expected. The cluster and oreo were good. I didnt see any dipped apples--which would have been awesome.

We got some delicious chocolate and will be back for popcorn and gelato!

We stopped in Phillips twice while in Seaside recently. They have tons of old school candy, delicious chocolate by the pound, popcorn, and gelato. I thought everything was really good, except I felt that the cheddar popcorn was too oily and $10 for a small. It's also pretty expensive, but like I said, we did go there twice because we did like their chocolates.

    05.27.19 salt water taffy 8-oz $4.49

Candy store in downtown Seaside OR One of the candy shops on Broadway Street in the heart of downtown Seaside. Dropped in to check out the displays of delicious treats and confections... the smell of the caramel corn lured us in. Mmmm! They have everything from salt water taffy to fruit slices & gummies to hand dipped chocolates. The fruit slices caught my eye, it must be one of their specialties, they have all kinds of flavors: lime, grapefruit, peach, pear, cherry, key lime, lemon, even chili mango! They have these in sour flavors too! Everything looked yummy and colorful in the glass display cases. Unfortunately (or fortunately), depends on how I look at it, I guess... fortunately, I didn't gain any pounds since I didn't purchase anything for me! I did buy a bag of salt water taffy for my boss to take back to Cali (taffies are one of her favorites). The chocolates are high quality but it was unfortunate that I didn't get to experience tasting any of them. I love my sweets, my favorites are chocolate with nuts and they have a variety of them. My braces don't like them, though LoL. I'll need to come back here another time when the grillz are off. The young staff were helpful and friendly. If you have a sweet craving while in Seaside, please stop here... I dare you to leave without something! Review #1421

Great selection of candy, friendly staff , nice clean store. We tried their salt water taffy, chocolate & both were delicious.

They had 'sugar free' chocolates!!! It can be hard to find good sugar free chocolates, but I found them here.

It was a busy place, and keeps later hours than the salt water taffy place down the block, lucky for me. It's a fairly large store with all kinds of sweets and ice cream. I got a bag of taffy for my mom and then also one as a gift, just an assortment I picked out. From the large selection (I think at least 50 flavors). I also got some fudge (my mom's got a sweet tooth!) for our group of nine visiting to share. They had divinity, an old-fashioned confection of which my mother is quite fond so I picked up some of that, as well as some dark chocolate sea salt and some rocky road. They give free samples and I got a taste of the dark chocolate sea salt--heavenly. I only interacted with one staff member but she was helpful. The parking is street only.

The smell of smoked salmon hits you like a warm coastal memory before you even know what you're ordering. Not only do they have smoked salmon, crab, oysters, and just about every fish imaginable, but that smoked ahi tuna dip might honestly be one of the greatest snack inventions known to mankind. Throw it on chips, make a sandwich out of it, eat it straight with a spoon like a wild animal, it does not matter. It is incredible. What I love about this place is it feels authentic. Not some polished tourist trap trying too hard. This place has history in the walls. Bell Buoy has been around since 1946 and is one of the last remaining canneries on the Oregon Coast, still smoking and canning seafood in house with vintage equipment that somehow still hums along decades later. (Bell Buoy) You can taste that tradition the second you bite into anything they make. Everything in there just screams Oregon Coast excellence. Fresh crab, wild salmon, smoked fish, seafood stacked everywhere like a treasure chest from the Pacific Ocean. You walk in thinking you'll buy one little thing and suddenly you're walking out carrying enough seafood to feed a fishing village. No regrets whatsoever. The people working there were friendly, the products were amazing, and honestly it just made the whole day better. Places like this are why road trips to Seaside are dangerous for your wallet but great for your soul. I was stoked to leave with something that tasted that good. Absolute treat from start to finish. If you are anywhere near Seaside and you skip Bell Buoy, you are doing the Oregon Coast wrong. Five stars without hesitation.

Shorelines NW manages to be a touristy shop while providing a much better customer experience. The store is very large and well lit, the aisles are wide so you can wander and linger without feeling like you are stuck in an elevator with tons of people. Items are organized so if you aren't interested in children's toys you don't even have to walk to that area of the store. Interested in shells? Against the side wall are bins filled with shells of various shapes, types and colors. There is plenty of room to take it all in and make your selections. My grandmother always collected small shells and made jewelry with them so I spent a lot of time in this area and was happy to have the section all to myself! Of course they have the obligatory tie-dye which somehow has become synonymous with the beach, but their offerings were a step above other tie dye sweatshirts I've seen. The light blue & white was particularly nice, subtle, not too in your face. Mermaids and the beach also go hand & hand and at Shoreline, there are Mermaids of every skin tone and hair color so little girls can see themselves. Well done! They have a nice selection of affordable fashion jewelry, some in sterling, and of course many feature shells, sand dollars, flip-flops and other beachy items. Even though I'm not a tourist, I enjoy walking through the shop and looking at all of the offerings, often making a purchase.
