Literally have nothing good to say about this plumbing company. Called Monday and set up an appointment for Wednesday between the hours of 12pm-3pm and he texted Wednesday on the day of appointment that he was finishing up early with a different appointment and if he could come earlier at 11:30am. I explained my husband is not home and I'll be off from work by 12pm-- coming straight from work I'll be there by 12:15pm. Mind you this is still in the time slot of 12pm-3pm in which we originally made the appointment for. His response: we will have to reschedule. This is absolutely outrageous and no way to treat at customer. Philco Plumbing was a lifesaver! My water heater went out and Phil came to the rescue! He gave honest communication, was fast, and went out of his way to help us out. We were without hot water for 3 days getting bids from 2 other companies that were giving us price hikes and quotes for more work than we actually needed, basically trying to take advantage of the situation because people get desperate when there is no hot water. Phil was recommended to me by the American Pro Water Heating Company. I spoke with him and told him the manufacturer was shipping us new parts that were under warranty and that we had been without hot water since Sunday. He offered to come the next day, fix the water heater with the parts from his stock and have us contact him when the manufacturer's parts arrived so we could give them to him in return. I would give this company a ZERO. I called them on Thursday because my Whirlpool water heater was not producing hot water. Phil said they couldn't come until the next Monday. Meanwhile, I got the authorization code from Whirlpool,(parts are covered under my warranty from Whirlpool), and sent it to Phil along with the serial and model number On Monday, Phil texted to say they had "vehicle problems" and couldn't come until Wednesday. I called Whirlpool, and was told that the parts had been mailed to him, and wouldn't arrive until Wednesday. So that was the real reason why he wasn't coming until Wednesday, to replenish his inventory. So, he lied to me about the "vehicle problems" and was going to use the parts to stock his own inventory before coming here. The parts could have been picked up at my local Lowe's using the authorization code I'd given him. If I had used my local plumber, which I'm now doing, I could have had hot water that day. And I still don't know if they were the correct parts. When I called Phil to confront him about lying, he yelled at me, saying he "knew" what the problem was, (without looking at the water heater), and that he always got his parts directly from Whirlpool, and not from Lowe's. Then he said he DID have the right parts on his truck, but wanted to make sure he had replacements before coming here. Said he'd send someone later today. Really bad attitude, possible scammer. Customer Beware-Must Read! Do Not hire Philco Plumbing!! 1. Price increases $300 after In-Person estimate because the limited space to install water heater. Phil, the owner was in the condo when the initial estimate was given but increased the final price afterwards because we were in need to replace the new water heater! What a Terrible Person to take advantage of customer! Evil Minded! 2. After installation, we found out that the water heater was completely against the wall & blocked the "Handle of Main Valve" to shut off water into the condo. I called Phil to move the water heater away from wall 1/2 inch space so we can reach the handle. Phil asked for additional $175 to move the water heater!! This should be "After Service Guarantee" because the installer failed to leave space between water heater & handle of main valve. In fact, Phil blamed the design of the condo & refused to provide service warrantee! Phil just walked away from the condo with very rude & mean attitude that I've never seen with any service company!! I don't like leaving bad reviews, but sometimes you need to warn people. My father's water heater burner broke, so he called local plumbers to get a replacement part. When he called Philco, the plumber immediately started suggesting a ton of unnecessary labor and parts. Thankfully we knew none of it was needed, so we declined it all, and just said we needed the burner. Philco said he would sell us the burner, and told us to meet at his house. My father goes there, knocks on the door, and no one answers. He calls, and the plumber does not answer. He waited an hour, and then gave up and went home. What a complete waste of time. Having a broken water heater sucks, but it's even worse to get jerked around and waste time when someone else could actually be helping you. This is the guy you want. You can read a lot of other reviews and guess if someone else will do the job or you can call Philco and get what you had hoped for. My water heater went bad, he came out, diagnosed the problem, fixed it lickty-split, gave me some valuable advice about flushing it every year and just like that my days of heating water on the stove for a sponge bath or going to the gym for a shower became just a memory. I would not hesitate for a single moment to call Phil the next time I need a plumber again. I used another plumber that was highly recommended by Yelp (probably sponsored) in the past and was completely dumbfounded as to how there are so many positive reviews. Phil is truly an honest, hard-working plumber and does great work. You aren't calling a plumber to be your friend, so I don't think the negative reviews on his soft skills should negate the quality of work he provides. We are all human and have our good days and bad. He got my water heater back up and running in no time and I didn't feel for a second that he was untrustworthy or disingenuous. After 2 weeks of dealing with the warranty company they finally issued us a work order and sent us authorization for Philco Plumbing. Manny was great. So our hot water heater decided to take a dump the two days before school started. It was still under warranty, so we called the manufacturer and they referred us to Philco saying there was a recall on our unit. I had some major reservations about calling once I read all the reviews however, it worked out pretty seamlessly. They weren't able to come out the same day but, were here the next day and arrived during the time frame they said they would. Efrem was amazing. He came in replaced the parts that were under warranty quickly, cleaned up his mess and was on his way. My experience with Philco was as easy as any other home repair/contractor I've ever delt with. What a PROFESSIONAL job done! Phil responded to my call and scheduled me for a same-day service. I have had multiple problems with my water heater and the pilot going out. I spoke to Phil, explained my situation, and informed him that we had been without hot water for 3 days. He said his schedule was packed, but, he would squeeze me in. I called Phil out to service my water heater about a week ago. I had been told by another company that it could not be fixed and would need to be replaced altogether. He came over and fixed a part on it and it was up and running fantastically again! So glad I called him out to get another look and a second opinion. I was referred to them by the warranty company for my water heater that I purchased from Lowes. I called on Thursday and received no call back for a few hours. I called back and spoke to a helpful receptionist who assured me that the plumber had all my information and would contact me to set up a time to see me that day. This was the last I heard from them until 4 days later when the plumber texted me to ask if I ever got service for my water heater. I would definitely NOT call them again. After the first day I realized they weren't going to call back so I just replaced the heater myself. read more

I was having an issue with a water heater making a humming sound when it would kick on and last for a few minutes. It was a fairly new heater so I called up the manufacturer and they warrantied the machine and gave me a list of service technicians to come out and help me get it working properly. The only one that was available was Phil. Called him to set up a service and gave him the authorization number provided by the manufacturer. After speaking with him and setting up an appointment I asked if there would be any charge, and he told me it should all be covered the only issue would be if it needed to be flushed out and that would be a $75 charge. Showed him pictures of the heater and informed him that there was a cement post that may be in the way and asked if he needed me to move a refrigerator that is kept in the garage and a few feet away and was told not to worry about it. Said there would be no charge since the system was already flushed by myself. He came out and I wasn't home, but had someone at the house. He was apparently quite rude in person to my family member who was at the house to let him in. Complained that I was supposed to move the refrigerator even after the phone call with him. Ended up charging me $75 to drain the unit so that he could rotate it to get to the control panel, even after being told that it wouldn't be a problem and not to worry about it. He completed the job and so far everything is working, and it only cost me $75 for the repair, but I would have gladly drained the unit myself and rotated it to save some cash had he told me before that there would be a charge to rotate it, which when speaking with him over the phone he kept insisting he told me beforehand. read more

Philco Plumbing was referred by the manufacturer for my Kenmore water heater which was recalled. First thing he did was tell me that the manufacturer recommends draining the water heater every year to prevent sediments from building up at the bottom of the unit, which may prevent the pilot light from igniting the burner; I'm not sure how that could be as the burner as well as the pilot are UNDER the unit. I kinda figured that this was a bit of a "stretch" of the truth. A few minutes later he told me that the bottom of my tank was about 1/7 filled with these bluish /green sand like crystals and that he couldn't guarantee that the pilot would stay on unless I paid him $75 to drain it. I could have drained it my self, but I though he needed to do something special to prevent the sediments that he showed me (which I now believe HE injected into the water spout of the water heater), from building up. He left the area a mess, and I was out of $75.00 for a repair that should have been free. By the way, if anyone has a water heater that is on the blink, before calling Sears or some other place who will charge you a fee just to come out and tell you that your water heater has been recalled, check the serial number on your water heater against those on www.waterheaterrecall.com, input your model and serial number and complete the form to determine if your water heater is subject to this recall. This was a recall issue. Efrem came out, showed up on the earlier side of the arrival window and got right to work installing the new Manifold Burner sent to us by the manufacturer. He also checked to make sure the water heater was clean, cleaned the screen inside, and installed a new gas valve. There was no cost as it was all covered by the recall.
