Sold out to suburban propane and sent us a letter no longer a mom and pops. Owner was never very nice.

Gas driver came to fill tanks and hit my trash can ... truck driver apparently did realize it til I called in and asked for the company to replace my can . Owner called me back sys the next day he'll have someone come and replace it. Between 12-3pm no one showed up. Mind you I work so to take a few hours off was inconvenient for a no-show. I did receive a voice mail from the driver that ran over my can that he "Spaced it today and apologized for running over my can and will replace it tomorrow " so I called today and I explained the situation and surprisingly she was rude ... she did not state her name when answering the call but when I gave the same rudeness back about how is this my fault and that the driver was a no show and my trash can is not replaced she offered me the owners phone number... she then said the driver can come out today at my address between 2-3pm - well no one will be there today to receive the can I ordered that the driver drop off the replacement can at the gate. I am now home and not surprised no trash can. I checked my cameras and no one came either . This company hours are wrong too they answering service is off @3pm . Not 3:30pm. read more

These people are thieves!!! Been with them for 2 + years They over charge you when they fill you up or what they feel like charging. Making things up along the way that have no actual proof. Other than the readers (both the gauge and the app percentage receiver tracker) the tanks have but apparently they aren't accurate faulty equipment. They make you think you are saving money in the long run by filling up all the way until you get that invoice and says others wise. Send you an invoice over email with the fill +"delivery surcharge" a yearly rental fee of $100. I had the tank at 18% before fill and tank got filled up to 82%. So tank was filled with 64%. (Every 10% is 25 gallons) = 160 gallons @ 3.84 / gallon = $614.40. Invoice said 167gallons got charged $649.27 that's over $34.87 from? make it make sense if I tracked the percentage !! their excuse was that they filled up to the filler. And that it's cold so the gas is compressed. So their gas readers must not be accurate‍ again faulty equipment?. So should I wait for summer and fill up next time. lol. Definitely a bad experience, prices too expensive and this companies integrity is the worst in the community. No sympathy. They will argue and make stuff up instead of making things better. It's one of those companies that think you owe them a favor. read more

Customer service not the greatest for propane orders. Other services outside the phone order, the staff have been pleasant and responsive. The new receiver is not accurate and the gauge reading is misleading. I tapped the gauge to find out I'm at 5%. I called and said there's a $99 outside delivery fee since I'm not on their scheduled route. That is a very high penalty rate in general considering propane prices are not cheap. I did not like that I have to be penalized for an outside delivery fill considering the gauge and receiver are faulty. Representative stated I was at 50% yesterday and now at 5% the next day. Consumers should not be penalized for faulty equipment provided by the supplier. No sympathy or no other solutions were given unless I pay $99 to get filled that day or wait a couple of days and possibly risk of not having hot water. read more

I like the owner of the buisness, so it does not please me to write this review. The customer service has gone done hill big time! And recently they installed new radio recivers to tell to what's in your tank instead of there being a physical gauge on the tank. With this newest addition I suddenly amusing more propane than I ever have before. When I called about there being a possible leak I was treated like I was waiting there time. That's how I found out about my physical gauge was missing. When I called to find out why I was treated rudely and as if I was stupid. I literally stopped my delivery and will be moving on to another propane company. I am seriously saddened because the owner is a great person, his staff in the office is not. read more

YES. YES. YES. Thank you guys sooooo much!! I almost used another company (Amerigas) not realizing they had hundreds of $$ in hidden fees. I thought it was a cheaper route but they were a nightmare. (and were going to charge upwards of 800 for everything) I had an issue with my water heater and had 3 plumbers scared to touch it and trying to charge me $400 to help us. and Amerigas wouldn't help either (Igniter not working) Instead I called Phelan Gas and they had someone out in 2 days to install our propane and they fixed the water heater! They didn't give me a hassle, charge me extra fees...they just.........FIXED IT. I finally have hot water after a month of going back and forth with different plumbers and the other gas company. I paid Phelan Gas start up fee which is basically just the cost of a full tank of gas....so simple..no delivery fee, 1st year tank rental is free so no tank rental fee. Just easy, simple and to the point. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU You guys were friendly, came early, did the job and i am just so grateful. 5 stars- 10 stars- 20 stars ..You guys are the best! read more

This company has the worst female customer service representatives. They have HORRIBLE, absolutely horrible customer service skills. UNSYMPATHETIC to their customers' individual situations. Now, if the owner and / or management encourage such poor customer service, then they should be ashamed!!! I will also add. These are a set of customer services representatives that simply don't fit in with the other businesses here in Phelan! Set the poor customer service aside. This company offers no assistance to struggling customers. I am currently at 5% in our tank. I called to see if I could get just enough propane that we can afford. Not only do they not offer any assistance, but I will get charged a $100 penalty for ordering a delivery outside of my regularly scheduled date. If I take a date outside of my regularly scheduled date, I will get a $100 penalty added to my act annnnd I'm forced to fill the tank at over $350.00, CRIMINAL!! .......Now, on my regularly scheduled date, they are forcing me to take $200.00 worth of Propane with no payment plan. We simply can't afford it. I ask why, at this time in a crumbling economy, and sooo many of us are struggling just to survive, why isn't more being done to help those of us???? This kind of business is the type who forces customers to seek other options of bringing propane into our homes, etc...small Propane tanks used for barbecues as I've been suggested by many here in Phelan...this is surely something I'm looking into and spreading the word. read more

When our propane ran low, I called and when delivery came, it was discovered that we had a small leak. This review is solely intended for the Technician Fred Miller and Driver Steve, Fred had previously provided great service by advising me every step of the work involved, the prices , and preformed valve replacements and why the need to do so. Fred worked in a very prompt manner and left nothing to chance. Steve assisted Fred and quickly together filled a partial amount of propane into our tank to test the new valves , thankfully finding no leak. Fred re-lit my water heater in short order and had us up and back to speed. I cannot say that the Customer service provided by those that answer their phone lines is noteworthy, and I do not think that anyone appreciates the fat extra charge for delivery outside of your scheduled route days, however, at least Phelan Gas is lucky enough to have guys like Fred and Steve to provide great service and make up for any misgivings that you can read here on these reviews! read more

We had a issue with the regulator. The customer service representative sent Fred Miller out the very same day. He ended up replacing the regulator and he also lit our pilot on the wall furnace. We had a hard time getting the pilot lit. But Fred, bleed the lines, twice, and got it to light. He advised us to prevent it from being so hard light next time. Fred went up and beyond to help us. Highly recommend Phelan Gas for your propane needs and also Fred Miller! read more

I absolutely LOVE Phelan Gas. They are incredibly reliable, professional and friendly on every level. Their prices are more than fair. They don't nickel and dime you to death like other propane companies do. The customer service is on point. Amanda and Brianna are always so sweet and willing to help with such professionalism. It's always nice talking to these kind ladies. Freddy my delivery guy is also great. He's always very kind and says hi when he's here. When we first moved in our new home, we needed lots of appliances converted from gas to propane and Christian and his coworker came in and converted everything flawlessly and efficiently at a VERY reasonable cost. I have been with this company for years and I couldn't be happier. They always take such wonderful care of me and my family and I know they will do the same for yours. Can't go wrong with Phelan Gas. They charge way more then other companies! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Can you say price gouging!!!!!! I can't believe I have to write this. First off I'm Disabled. This means I have a hard time ambling around my tank outside attempting to find the details. Secondly, I was renting- so I really did not know the details of my gas tank when I called. I called and ordered an emergency fill. I did not know the size of my tank, so I took the representative's word for it and ordered the average fill based on her recommendation. They came and filled the tank, but my tank did not require all the gas I ordered, so I asked for a partial refund for the gas I did not take, yet was pre paid for. Apparently- this was unheard of in their world. I kept being referred to a manager when I called to discuss it. The 'manager' was always out of the office when I called- but I was sure to be informed that they don't really issue refunds. After months of trying- I finally went to the Better Business Bureau. There, we came to an agreement. I did not hear anything after that regarding my refund. Again- I would get referred to the 'manager' with the same - "we really don't issue refunds" song and dance. Groundhog Day? I think not. All I am asking for - is for the money back on the product I ended up not taking, which was agreed upon. This is fairly standard protocol for most businesses selling a product. It's very sad that you have decided to handle things this way. I have not given up on this situation. read more
