Then, without warning, they came out and disabled (removed connection hose) until I pay for propane still left in tank. Is this legal? Switching to another propane vendor, now struggling to remove the junk they left on my property. AVOID EDIT: over 2 months later, they did remove tank. Gentleman whom I spoke with and took tank away seems decent. But I feel too little, too late. And removing the equipment to make tank useless with ZERO warning made me shop around. I have a log of over 30 calls trying to get propane over a 1 month period and I never did get it. So many hours on the phone and no one ever did their job!!!! Then, of course it took me 2 more calls to cancel the service. It is really hard to believe a company can run like this!!!!! DO NOT USE AMERIGAS!!!!

If I could give them a zero star I would. They are a terrible company to deal with. They had me on…read moreautomatic delivery for over 25 years and now they took us off that for no reason and we ran out of propane. When I called they would not help and told me it would take 2 weeks for someone to come out to give us more propane. This company is a rip off I ended up cancelling our account because they were also ripping us off charging us $3.88. The best part what they were doing is that I have 2 tanks and one is just for our Jacuzzi and we have not used it in months however I still get a bill for that tank for $150.00 a month if I use it or not. So after my frustration I called Wood Propane and wow THEY ARE AWESOME. Cost is $3.50 right off the bat and they answered the phone instead of putting me on hold for over 45 minutes like Amerigas did.

A local company came and told me I could purchase 200 gallons at $2.00 per gallon and guaranteed my price for two years would be $2.50 per gallon. Of course I switched to Silver Valley Propane. I called Amerigas today to have them come and pick up my tank. I was on hold for 40 minutes, finally spoke to a person that told me they couldn't cancel my account and that I had to speak to the customer retention department to cancel my service and that there shouldn't be a wait to speak to them. Well, now I've literally been on the phone for an hour and a half (I checked the timer on my cell phone. The call was exactly 1 hour, 38 minutes and 42 seconds), I told them why I was changing and asked them to come pick up their tank. They told me it would take 4-6 weeks to come and pick it up and there would be a $420 charge for tank removal. Unbelieveable! After being a customer for 9 years they're going to stick it to me to pick up my tank. And they wonder why they are losing customers like crazy. Stay as far away as you can from Amerigas!

I notified the employee that helped me and was told I would get a $21.60 "discount" if I returned it with a quarter tank. I obviously didn't do that due to the fact that in order for me to achieve this I would most likely be spending close to if not more than the allotted discount I would be getting making said discount a wash or a straight loss. What did they do to remedy this issue, they charged me almost $30 for not dropping the truck off with a quarter tank despite informing them it wasn't received with the "guaranteed" amount of gas and failed to tell me they would charge me for not returning it with more gas than what it had on pick up. If I could get 0 stars would.
