I was a customer with Amerigas for 9 years. Last time I had my tank filled I paid $3.73 per gallon. A local company came and told me I could purchase 200 gallons at $2.00 per gallon and guaranteed my price for two years would be $2.50 per gallon. Of course I switched to Silver Valley Propane. I called Amerigas today to have them come and pick up my tank. I was on hold for 40 minutes, finally spoke to a person that told me they couldn't cancel my account and that I had to speak to the customer retention department to cancel my service and that there shouldn't be a wait to speak to them. Well, now I've literally been on the phone for an hour and a half (I checked the timer on my cell phone. The call was exactly 1 hour, 38 minutes and 42 seconds), I told them why I was changing and asked them to come pick up their tank. They told me it would take 4-6 weeks to come and pick it up and there would be a $420 charge for tank removal. Unbelieveable! After being a customer for 9 years they're going to stick it to me to pick up my tank. And they wonder why they are losing customers like crazy. Stay as far away as you can from Amerigas! read more

If I could give them a zero star I would. They are a terrible company to deal with. They had me on automatic delivery for over 25 years and now they took us off that for no reason and we ran out of propane. When I called they would not help and told me it would take 2 weeks for someone to come out to give us more propane. This company is a rip off I ended up cancelling our account because they were also ripping us off charging us $3.88. The best part what they were doing is that I have 2 tanks and one is just for our Jacuzzi and we have not used it in months however I still get a bill for that tank for $150.00 a month if I use it or not. So after my frustration I called Wood Propane and wow THEY ARE AWESOME. Amerigas is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. They are incapable of proper billing and make no effort to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Even after I discontinued service with them, they continued to send me bills. To make matters worse, during a routine leak check, their technician destroyed my hot water heater, and they refused to take responsibility or pay for it. I am now taking them to court over the damage. Their customer service is subpar and unhelpful. Dealing with them has been nothing but frustration. Everything about this company is horrible. The absolute worst customer service ever ! Very unorganized. Not the first time but multiple times they can't find me in the system when I been a Client they always want me to create an account. We own our own 500 gallon tank so we shop around for propane. Amerigas quoted us $1.83 a gallon plus a $69.95 dispatch fee. They were going to waive a mandatory inspection fee and charge a $8.99 hazmat fee. We purchased 200 gallons and the bill was supposed to be about $470. Driver filled the tank after a long drawn out ordeal about not having an online account and a password. We were then billed $645. The cost of propane should have been $394 total including the tax. Called for several hours and kept getting transfered to different people that could not help us. DONT BUY FROM THIS CROOKED, COMPANY. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER WITH A PROPANE COMPANY. read more

If I could, I would give NO STARS! They have BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE they don't care about their customers. They were suppose to fill up our tank to 80 and they only filled up to 75. According to the worker 75% is 80 for them. When I got the invoice it said, Start: 25% End:75%. First off, It was not on 25 it was at least 28. Second, it was Not! at 75 it was close to 70. Took a picture and went to complain at their office. I was expecting a discount for not being filled properly all the way. The person at the front desk said, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT IT SAYS THERE, WHAT MATTERS IS WHAT WE HAVE IN OUR SYSTEM. They were completely disrespectul. Had to pay Full price, which went up $100 more. ZERO STARS. That's what this company deserves. A few people in the office are nice on the phone. But holy hell their rates are GROSSLY EXCESSIVE. My neighbor and I were both on "will call" service and got deliveries the same day, same amount but he paid $3.30 something/gallon (he couldn't remember exactly) and I paid $4.70/gallon. And no one I spoke to in that company could explain to me why that was. Going back through my account I realized I haven't paid under $4.48/gallon in the last 3 years. RIDICULOUS. This company is terrible, I had a propane smell coming from my laundry room, they couldn't find the leak and locked my tank. I got a plumber out to fix my leak and now I'm being told they won't unlock my tank until 2/13/2023. The repairs were completed 2/6/2023. Trying to talk to somebody is useless they don't call you back when they say they will and half of the operators don't know how to do their jobs and don't put notes in! Although I always think the price of gasoline and propane is too high here in California, I wanted to compliment the Adelanto Amerigas office. The delivery people are friendly and always give us notice prior to delivery. We appreciate that so we can keep our watch dog inside. I have called the office many times to ask questions. They are always helpful, especially Sandra, who is cheerful and patient with me. I have accidentally double paid my bill online and she reassured me it would be posted to the next month's bill or I would get a refund within 10 business days, whichever I preferred. We had a serviceman in the area placing a new monitor on the tank, and I called to double check if he was an employee. He was and he was friendly and communicated well. They are always helpful and I wanted to say we do appreciate it. read more

If I could give them a negative star I would. My mom is on hospice and I called to pay and add propane to her tank because it was almost empty. They refused to do it because my mom couldn't speak to them. I fought for 2 days with them begging to just add some propane. I asked for a supervisor to call me and for 2 days I received no calls. Again I wanted to pay upfront and add some propane is all I was asking. They refused!! I ended up ordering through a different company. 1star is way too many! Quick, switch to Silver Valley!! Amerigas (Adelanto office) has the Worst customer service from a utility/service company I've experienced. HORRIBLE inter office communication, and the worst communication between the office and personnel in the field. There are too many issues to describe, here are the worst I have always had propane delivered monthly and never spoke with or needed to speak with the driver. One day we couldn't light the stove and discovered we were completely out of propane. I called Amerigas and was told the driver said I told him I wanted my account to be placed on "will call" and hadn't had a delivery for 4 months. NOT TRUE! The girl I spoke to said she would put me back on a monthly delivery schedule but one month later I checked on line and my account STILL showed as will call. I have 2 tanks and struggled for 2 years (literally) to get them to top off both tanks when they came out. They kept ignoring one of my tanks and would only fill it once per year resulting in a $900 propane bill. The first time I complained, I was talked out of canceling and given a guarantee it wouldn't happen again. I signed a 1.99 per gallon for one year contract (they got me!). After the 1 year expired, i got a 899.00 bill for the tank they guaranteed would be serviced on a regular basis! I called and cancelled my contract with the intent of going with Silver Valley Propane as soon as my tanks were empty. Low and behold one month later they showed up and topped off BOTH tanks! I called and they told me there was s note in my file that I extended my service for another year! TOTAL LIE. When my tanks were finally empty I switched to Silver Valley (Excellent company!) and called Amerigas to have their tank taken away. It took 3 months to have it picked up! After my first call in November I patiently waited until January thinking the holidays probably made it tough to get someone out ... when I finally called to ask when they would be picking up the eyesore in my front yard, I was told it was never scheduled to be picked up and that it would be picked up the following week. Then they called me to say a truck was in the area and they would get it a day early... NOPE! They never showed up! I called again and it was scheduled for the 31st of January, I called on the 30th to remind them and was told it should've been picked up on the 29th (who cares, but not the date I was told) but the driver went home sick and it would be 2 more weeks before they could get it. I wouldn't get off the phone until they said they'd get it the next day at NO CHARGE. The guy showed up, finally, and took the tank on Feb 1, and left me an invoice for $117.10! Needless to say, the office said that there would be no charge, just another miscommunication. Do yourself a favor, don't sign up with Amerigas if it's the Adelanto office. Use Silver Valley Propane. I have been using Amerigas since they took over my previous propane company. I have found lousy service as of late. When I order a new load of propane, they don't show up at all & want me to pay for an expedited delivery to make up for their tardiness. When I ask to speak with a supervisor, they tell me I can't. I've told them I need the tank filled because our local power company cuts power every time the wind picks up & they are afraid their equipment will cause a fire. So I got a standby generator & want to keep the tank full. They appear to really not care about their customers. Thinking for switching to a new propane provider. Don't use these guys. read more

ALERT!!! DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I called them to pick-up their tank, because they were too expensive in February of 2018. It is now October 26th, 2018 and they still haven't picked it up! They wanted to charge $100 for the pick-up too! I was will to pay it to get them out of my hair. I've contacted them 5 times for pick-up and encountered rude, idiots that don't know what they are doing...Including their District Manager! 3 weeks ago on my last attempt to contact them, I was told the DM would call me that evening and pick it up in the 23rd. Nope, once again, no call, and a no show. I had even emailed the Corporate Office the day the DM said he would call me and asked them to contact me. Nope again!!! I just emailed them again! Well, see what happens...All I know is that they owe me $100 a month for STORAGE FEES! Guess I'll just remove it from my property, I already notified them in my last email, that if they didn't pick up the tank that I would considerate abandoned, therefore I own it. They don't even deserve one star. I had signed up for regular delivery, and they never come by to fill. So you have to remember to check. Well, we checked and were at 20%, so I called... well 4 days later I'm out. Now I have to pay $100 extra and $40 for a leak check. But they can't be out until Tuesday. Tuesday comes and goes, no one comes for the fill, I stayed home from work so someone would be here. I call and they say well our truck in that area broke down. So we will be Out tomorrow. Wednesday I get a call at 12:30 and she says oops we won't have a truck in the area until Thursday. Well if I'm paying an extra $100 for delivery why does there need to be a truck in my area? And Edison has a planned outage in my area Thursday. So she says well we won't be able to get there until next week sometime. Well at this point I'm about yelling, and Amy says I will call you by the end of the day to let you know what I can do. At 4:45 still no call. My husband ended up calling and talking to some "new" manager. He got him to get a driver out Thursday and said it will be at the end of the route to give Edison time to get the power on. Thursday my husband calls because Edison cancelled the outage, and wanted to let them know he wouldn't have to wait and comeback if he was in the are. The lady gave him some serious attitude. Their customer service is SHIT! Their prices are outrageous. My bill for this fill is over $1,000. And I already paid $60 for the leak test and am being charged for it again. I 100% do not recommend them. And if you decide to, make sure to triple check prices, get it in writing, record the conversation. And stay by the guy who comes out the ENTIRE time. I read the reviews prior and just thought people were being unfair, and went ahead and gave them a chance. I went online and was quoted 69.99 for the guy to come out and check my property owned tank(which was working fine, we've used propane for 10 years we know how to check leaks). I called to schedule the appointment and they quoted me the same amount. Nothing more. Nothing less. Said the guy would be here before noon on day of appointment. The guy came at 5 in the evening stayed no later than an hour. Checked what runs on propane. Moved my dryer and didn't put it back, showed us a leak we've never seen before. Charged us $300+. I called in and figured we could just a rent a tank and dispute my bill. They said yes to renting, and the fees would be transferred to the rental tank, but nobody called for over a month. I called to cancel and dispute my bill. They gave me the run around, and made me call 3 different numbers. I decided to email them and told them I shouldn't have to pay the guys labor nor anything I wasn't quoted for. They deducted the bill to $130 which included what I was quoted, taxes, and additional fees. I mentioned I should only be charged what they quoted me not only online but while scheduling the appointment. There was no mention of additional fees. They said they will not lower the bill anymore because there should have been a mention of fees. Which there was not. Long story short they're con artist. I was quoted an amount they should honor that amount, but they will not. They first said the fees were due to some "extra work" the guy must have done. Then they said it was due to propane they put in the tank, which is useless because the tank I was able to use before someone came out is no longer usable. They're completely unprofessional and should mention "additional fees" prior to setting appointments, come at allotted time, put things back where they were, and have poor customer service lines. read more

Their customer service is a piece of shit. I needed to refill my tank ASAP, they told me that they will charge me $100 fee for urgent delivery. I approved it and... they never showed up for the last 3 days despite CS kept telling me that I am on the list today or they are on the way. Their excuses as to why they did not show up... They ran out of gas... Every freaking time. I checked my account online and noticed that they had "scheduled delivery" on the sidebar. I was stunned to learn that my estimate delivery time frame was between 1/17 and 1/25. They failed to tell me that. It is okay to wait for them all day to show up but a whole week? Amerigas, some of us have jobs. I canceled service with them due to poor customer service. I called Silver Valley Propane to sign up. They said they will come within an hour to install. They did show up like they said they would. New 250 gal tank, gas, and inspection cost me only $350! Amerigas, you charge me almost $1000 for a refill. It is highway robbery!!! read more

The worst customer service. I cancelled my order within 24 hours because they couldn't give a specific date for delivery, only a 10 day window. They require upfront payment, which I paid $498 by card. I called the local office a cancelled my order the next day. It's been 11 days since my order and no refund has been processed. I called the local office a they told me, oh, you want a refund? That will take 7-10 business days for us to issue a check. They cannot refund the original card. Horrible customer service they do not care about you as a customer or if you freeze during 25 degree winter weather. I lost my propane due to a leaky regulator that is Amerigas's part.. They sent a technician out to check for leaks and he couldn't find where the propane leaked from. I had my handyman come out found out where the leak was replaced the regulator.. so next Amerigas wanted to come back out to do a safety check and see if there were any leaks which was okay with me except they flaked on 2 appointments.. I told them I have no more leaks I just need propane because I have children and a senior citizen which are freezing and at this point they want to charge me $170 "emergency" delivery surcharge to come out and deliver propane... no thanks...I cancelled with Amerigas and called Silver Valley Propane... They came out the next day, on time, and installed a NEW propane tank... no delivery fee just the price of propane, which was cheaper per gallon than what amerigas was charging me. If I had any other choice, I would switch but I am locked into a contract. Ordered propane 10 days ago 2/22. It is now 3/2. I called to check to see if there was any update on the delivery. When I asked for the ETA was told 7-10 business days. When I asked about expedite The girl who answers the phone was condescending and continued to repeat 7-10 business days. She neither cares that you are without gas, nor does she try to reassure you she's doing everything in her power to get our sooner. 7-10 business days. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL BE SORRY, If I had to do over I would NEVER use this company!!! Don't get drug in like me thinking there propane per gallon is priced lower than other companies. The added fees go WAY OVER what I would of paid if I had stayed with Phelan Propane. After a bill for 1,462.00 for there so called needed repairs and paying there tech 136.00 an hour, on my personally owned tanks, which Phelan did a pressure check and I DIDN'T NEED ANY REPAIRS, and was using them before this whole ordeal, the pressure test came out prefect. Amerigas had not one, but two, different technicians come out and each called out different things they said must be repaired, at different visits and red tagged my tank so I had no heat during the last snow storm and just finally got gas from the on Jan 10th 2020,after ordering gas in Nov 23 2019 .I told them my last check was fine but they just kept saying they are more thorough and dollar signs just kept going up. Don't be like me, I should of kept going to Phelan Propane, and save 1462.00 for the difference in the so called discount in price per gallon, oh and they called out my water heaters that was working fine and cost another 1670.00 to have installed (2) so to get there discounted propane, I paid a total of approx 4600.00 counting my first fill up, which they billed me 2.32 a gallon NOT the 1.81 they advertise for the first fill up!!!! Awful place!!!! Loyalty gets you no where! We had them when it was proflame (no problems), then they went to Amerigas. They raised their rates significantly and didn't bother notifying customers (yes I should have paid better attention). We were on level pay plan and they never said we should raise our monthly like done in the past, we acquired almost $2000 in fees. When we finally noticed they would only allow us to pay it off in 4 payments even though we had been with them forever!!! Now today we had a appt to pick up their tank. We called because they hadn't come yet and they said their driver never came in sorry! My husband took off work to be there so they could pick it up!!! Amerigas in Adelanto is run by a crooked group of people. After my introductory rate expired they doubled the price of propane to $4.86. It was $1.85 per gallon more than other propane companies in the high desert. I called the question this and they stated that was the price and if I was unhappy then I can seek service elsewhere. Then they informed me of the fees they would assess to leave. $159.00 to empty the tank plus a $59.00 fee to pick up their tank. Which was at my house when I bought it. I used the propane up so it was empty to avoid the $159.00 charge. I arranged pick up of their tank and asked for the total I would be billed. I was told by 3 different people the total would be a "Standard" $59.00 charge. However when I got my invoice they had added $132.00 charge to the $59.00. They stated is was another "Standard" fee they billed there leaving customers. I have asked several times to get an itemized bill from them for this additional charge and they will not tell me why they added it or what it's for. They are an extremely unethical and crooked company to do business with. Be careful if you choose them as you will be burned. This place has delivered gas to my home for 17 years,over the years I've had a few small problems with them. Lately I have had nothing but problems with them. They were generally, trouble-free. I don't know what changed but something definitely did I know they were bought out they used to be called Myers propane and you never had a problem with Meyers propane .They have now once delivered more gas than I have ordered another time delivering gas when I didn't order any, with a bill attached of $850 both within a three-month period. The second delivery came when I wasn't home pretty sneaky huh? I guess they purchased too much gas over the winter and they're pushing it off on people. At least that's what I think and how it seems to appear. I wonder how many other people they'r being underhanded with? I've complained to the manager Rob. He could care less as attitude is poor. Their customer service is piss poor at best at the Adelanto facility. They give you attitude when you complain. I will be going to some other propane company. I can't recommend AmeriGas in fact I have fired them from their services. I gave them one star because you can't give anything less. Do yourself a favor buy your propane elsewhere there are plenty of propane companies up in the high desert. Apparently AmeriGas can't be trusted anymore. read more
