I honestly love this place. It's a great low key hangout spot. The servers are friendly and personable! Food is good bar food and the drinks are plentiful! It's a sports bar, and if you ask nicely they will put whatever game you want on! Their brunch is fabulous as well! Great sports bar, inside/outside atmosphere with patio, deck and inside seating. This is situated on Davis street in the Bishop Arts district. We usually eat here when we go to a concert at the The Kessler theater which is literally across the street. Queso, nachos, burgers, fries, onion rings, salads, sandwiches, and wraps populate the menu. it's not a fancy establishment, but food is always consistently tasty and service can't be beat. Their 7th Street burger is particularly delicious with cream cheese, smoked bacon, grilled fresh jalapenos, fried red onions and served with lettuce and tomatoes. Always great service, especially if you want to watch a game. They will change the channel and even put the audio on for you in most cases. Wait staff always continues to check in even if you're not drinking, which I can't say for most sports bars. I came here on. Monday for lunch with my 6 year old nephew and dog. We sat in the patio and had very very slow service. She did not check on us after dropping off the food. I needed salt and pepper. We got our meal after people that go to the restaurant far after we did. My nephews tots were over cooked and my burger came out cold and not medium like I requested. I could not tell of the restaurant was experiencing a rush inside but the patio area was nearly empty and even my nephew noticed the wait. There were a lot of flies that kept surrounding our food that made it hard to enjoy. I've come before with dog and enjoyed and thought it be a fun place to hang but it was a waste of time. read more

There's a tip down below that says "Good chicken wings." I feel so sorry for that man if that's his definition of good wings, honestly. They were unseasoned* (or extremely poorly seasoned) bird flaps in a very sad "buffalo" sauce that was conservative enough on coverage to make me wonder if it was maybe just the last bit of the bottle, and they didn't want to open a new one to be generous. The menu said "wet," but it was def more of a "damp" offering. What the cluck? The ranch and blue cheese couldn't even help the lack of flavor and I was forced to add salt and Louisiana hot sauce to try and make the damn things fly... they at least left the terminal then, but alas, the flight remained grounded with me stranded in Hungary. Took me quite a while to get em to-go, which at least was an opp to see that the servers are fun and friendly. At one point a polite server that engaged me in conversation after I initially placed my order came around again saying, "you're still here!?" when she saw me still waiting, about 7 minutes before I actually got the food. It was busy, sure, but not thaaaat busy. Overall it's a cool sports bar with a nice patio, hence the second star. I just wouldn't eat here again with that first impression. With Dallas having one of the highest restaurants per capita, including several awesome offerings in a one mile radius of this location, they all get one shot. And considering those subpar wings (and also some heavily seasoned waffle fries which were just okay... Maybe that's where all the bird seasoning went??) and the food speed, unfortunately it's a hard pass for me here. read more

This place is a mess. The servers are slow, the bartender does everyone's job but his own and the food will eat you up. The entire experience lived up to the name Poor House Dallas. Poor service poor physical space and poor food to make you sick. To bad the price of things doesn't reflect the low quality of this place. There are a lot of tvs to keep your mind off the mess your in. The worst brunch my girlfriends and I have had on Davis St. One girl called me later about the diarrhea she has from this place. Food tastes amazing, super chill atmosphere, and staff is overly friendly. It's a bit pricey but the bar food has an almost gourmet flair so if your price conscious be sure to come during their food happy hour times. They even have a dog friendly patio AND a menu just for your fur baby! read more

I've past by this place several times but just thought it was only a bar. Went to a birthday gathering there last night & to my surprise they served food. I ordered the Cajun Turkey Burger & I have to say it's hands down the best damn burger I've ever had in my life. I'll most definitely be back to this place again & again & again. its ok. We had the bacon curd burger and the bbq burger. All we could taste is the tomato pasta or sauce in the bbq sauce. Nothing sweet or smoky about it. So i wouldnt call it a bbq burger. The bacon curd burger was good tho. Worth a try. Their also big burgers, so its plenty of food. I also ordered a water and root beer but the soda never made it out. Friends/Family- I would seriously rethink eating or drinking at the Pour House Dallas (PHD) at 1300 W Davis St Dallas,TX 75208. Recently, we were in the hospital (Emergency Room for 9 hours) severely sick with food poisoning from Salmonella. I called the restaurant when we were finally feeling better about 3 days later to inform them of what happened and insure that the products used to make my food were examined for future customer's safety. A very unfriendly and unknowledgeable hostess answered the phone. The conversation went something like this... Me: Hello. May I speak with the Kitchen Manager? Host: Um. He's not here. Me: Okay...May I speak with your floor manager? Host: He's not here either. Me: Is there anyone in charge?? Host: Hang on....(long silence) What do you need? Me: I need to speak with a manager. Is there anyone in charge of the restaurant right now? Host: Um. Yeah...the bar manager. Me: Can I speak to the bar manager, then? Host: Sure. I spoke to the bar manager and was able to get the name of the General Manager/Owner. They would not give me a contact number for him and said they would TEXT him the issue. I got a call from him a day later. I called back and he had already left. So I left a voicemail. Today he called me back. Let me just start by saying that he was a very "PROUD" person and very "DEFENSIVE" from the beginning of the conversation. When I answered the phone, he said he was calling about a "problem I had with his restaurant." I explained to him the horrible sickness that was experienced from eating the Chicken Nachos and/or Dinner Salad w/ ranch and how I ate there at approximately 7:30pm. I got up at 3:00am puking my guts out...among other things. He IMMEDIATELY said..... "Well...everyone I have talked to including neighbors, friends and doctors say food poisoning starts 24 hours after you eat somewhere." People, the conversation went downhill from there. He was so rude! He was talking to me like a disrespectful college kid. It was jaw dropping. This venue has NO management, NO proper supervision and if you don't want to eat food that is probably mishandled, seriously rethink eating here!!! I support my local community, but should you be affected by HIS restaurant's mistakes, he will NOT be on your side, courteous or own up to you being a customer of his. All that was needed at this point was an apology. Not even on his agenda when he called...it was all about proving that I wasn't sick from eating at HIS restaurant. We need HEALTHY places for us to support. Not rude business owners that take your money without thinking twice about the fact that WE are what drives their business. NEVER setting foot in there again. read more

I would describe this place as a well rounded sports bar in Bishop Arts. I have been to other sports bars in the area but they just don't have the selection of food that PHD has to offer. So many tries. So many fails. When it opened many of us were THRILLED to finally have a sports bar in Oak Cliff again! The BBQ place that was once there, had closed down. PhD is billed as a sports bar, but the owner has over-thought his "fusion" ideas of live music venue, Jazz bar, sports bar and restaurant. I really doubt he has a clue what a REAL true sports bar builds it's clientele on - SPORTS. We have been there for bowl games, BIG rivalry games (that other sports bars have made their focal point of the day or weekend), and BIG home town games. If any of these games occur near the evening, be prepared to lose audio on the patio in favor of some lame-ass live "music" act that they crank up on the speakers. You are then forced to go into the cramped little bar area, and hope for a stool to sit on to watch the game on the few TVs that they have over the bar. Last year during the Cotton Bowl, you had to sit in the far rear dining room area to watch the game, where the viewing and audio quality was complete crap. It's a dining room, and the patrons in there took priority for dinner service. Lately they have set up a system of assigned TV's for every game. You can check the white board inside to see what number TV is playing which game. We witnessed an employee first tell a customer that she could not change the channels for a Dallas Cowboy game, and then remove the game from one TV at the request of another customer. So which is it - can you or can't you? When people complained to the bartender, he barked back at them that he had no control over the TVs, even when the issue with the changed channel was brought to his attention. Serious attitude problem, which seems to be becoming the norm with employees there. There are a few nice people working there, but they are becoming less and less. The food is hit and miss. Sometimes pretty good, other times completely awful. They are consistent with one things - screwing up salsa. How can someone screw up salsa???? Holy salt mines Batman! That is the most sodium laden mess I have ever seen next to a tortilla chip. It's Texas, you're in a predominantly Hispanic area of town, and you cannot get your salsa right???? REALLY??????? We had the PhD Burger one night, and the meat tasted as if it had been BOILED. GROSS!! The owner is COMPLETELY clueless. He walks around there like he is the Belle of the Ball, waving and smiling. I have had friends approach him concerning issues that they are starting to see there, and he completely ignored the problem and continues to run this place blindly. How in the blazes the other locations have survived under him is beyond me. This location is off our list for viewing sports while having beer and food. We have moved on, and others are starting to do the same. Sad and pathetic. read more

I live down the street and went here on a Teusday afternoon. After being told the burger discount didn't apply to takeout I over paid almost 30 dollars for 2 burgers and sides. Instead of cooking the meat medium like I asked they charred both previously frozen patties. The only thing they managed not to overcook was the salad. I took the charred blt back and got a half discount. Will not be going here again, there are so many better options around. Get a taco or got to Nova or bolsa and spend the same money for quality food. The staff was nice. read more

PhD surprisingly has a really good brunch. Not the place to go if you're craving waffles and pancake options, but they have plenty of tex-mex brunch items. Their Migas Enchiladas were particularly good. The price is right here for sure. They have what I think is one of the best brunch values in Dallas. Had high hopes for their Sunday brunch, particularly the Eggs Benedict options. But when the blandest plate came out, all that went out the window. Basically biscuit sausage and eggs w gravy. the eggs were not poached but soft boiled and the seasonal side fruit salad was a visually boring mix of cantaloupe, pineapple and honeydew. Presentation was clearly not taught to these guys and the taste was pedestrian. Just moved to the neighborhood and went here for the first time to have a bite to eat, a drink and to see some live music. As sports bars go this has a nice atmosphere with decent indoor and outdoor seating. Beer selection was ok but not expansive. They did have several types of white wine to choose from, so the wife was happy. It took a while for us to be recognized, but once we were the service was good. The food experience was pretty terrible. We ordered some sliders with a side of slaw and some nachos. The nachos were far from good and my wife would not eat them after trying them. The sliders consisted of 4 mini cheeseburgers. Meat, cheese and bread. That's it. And since I'm not 8 years old that didn't work well for me. The side of slaw was basically inedible: cabbage in a flavorless pool of mayo. A second chance on food is not something I am going to go for at this place. . Simply put, the people who run the place need to try their own food so they can realize what they are serving so they can just stop. Please just stop. Go here for a beer and to hang out with a friend. Just don't eat. read more

Typical sports bar but with more patio. Nothing special about menu items but was not expecting much but its fine for a sports bar. Waiter would tell us the specials and then after brought drinks informed us that was too late for happy hour specials. Why would a waiter tell us the specials and then tell us its too late for specials???? Why not just tell us nothing is on special at this time? Made me mad because I would have ordered something else if I would have known was not on special. Maybe it was mistake or maybe was done on purpose, I don't know. Pretty nice sports bar in Oak Cliff...one of the few places you can go and watch football in this neighborhood. Pretty standard beer list...was hoping for more and the queso was extra spicy...not what I was wanting or expecting. I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could. It's a cool dive(ish) sports bar with decent food and a good beer selection. My only beef with the place is the beer prices. $7 for a local pint is just ridiculous. Finding out that Thursday is pint night is redeeming. $4 for any pint plus you get to keep the glass. read more
