I was craving some spring rolls and my s/o was down for some pho. We came with our puppy so it was nice that we were able to eat outside. The worker there was kind enough to help my s/o take a chair outside to our table. We sat down and it took a while for them to take our order. They never asked if we wanted anything to drink. My s/o goes up and asks for two cups of water and they give him one and then walk away. My s/o got his pho and they gave him a regular spoon. The presentation of the pho was not appealing. My s/o loves pho and has tried pho at various other places and said that this pho had no flavor and that the noodles tasted weird. He couldn't continue eating the pho because it was just not good. I got my vegan spring rolls with a side of peanut sauce which were not bad but also were not the best. Just had fried tofu, lots of lettuce and some vermicelli noodles. The peanut sauce was okay. To make my spring rolls a little better I put some of my s/o's Thai basil into them. When he was going up to pay he saw that everyone else in the restaurant who had pho, had the pho soup spoon and chopsticks which he was not given or offered. read more

Every time I come, I usually get the vermicelli bowls (V11) it comes with veggies, the noodles, and grilled pork/ shrimp, with eggrolls for about $12 (including the fish sauce topping). It tastes fresh and amazing good. Their pho is also good, as it reminds me of my moms home cooked meals. Every time I come here, there's always the same guy working, and he's super nice! Service is efficient and the food portions are good for the price + area. It's also the only AAPI owned restaurant in SB that has banh mi. Most days, only chicken or bbq pork are available as meat selections. My partner and I love their Vietnamese iced coffees as well. read more

Pho in Santa Barbara?! I couldn't believe it. Phamous Cafe is a blessing. It's pretty decent pho and does the job when I miss home. The soup is not as fatty as my mom likes to make it but everyone has their preferences. I would totally recommend this place. It's moderately priced for what it is. Today, we were shocked by the pejorative behavior of the Vietnamese owner of the restaurant, who rudely told us our serve dog was not allowed here. This is a $25k fine for discrimination. Their lunch sandwiches are really cheap which is great, but that's about all this restaurant has going for it. There aren't many Vietnamese options in town, so we've given this place a couple chances, but today was sort of the last straw. We ordered some pho and sandwiches, and the pho spilled all over the the sandwiches we ordered because it was smashed into a small plastic bad with the sandwiches and another large bowl. I'd hardly made it to my car before the bag started leaking. By the time I was able to open the bag the broth had filled the whole bottom of the bag. When I reached in to take the sandwich bags out to try to save them, the sandwich bag ripped as I lifted and the sandwiches fell into the soup. Super tasty Pho and spring rolls! Sitting at home with a hot bowl of Pho is the ultimate Fall season comfort. It is very easy to order pick up, I did it over the phone. When you order pho to-go they separate the broth from the noodles/meats so you don't need to worry about soggy noodles! It's a solid 4 stars! I ordered 2 pho dac biet (special), 1 com dac biet and 1 Cafe sua da over the phone for take out right when they opened. I had never tried their food so I was excited. I really wanted to order their banh mi too but they said they won't have banh mi available until after 12. When I came home with my food, I was so bummed that they forgot my fish sauce for my com dish. However, their pho is the best that I've had in awhile. Man, I was disappointed. Maybe because I live in LA and there's so much good pho that this doesn't compare. I got a regular bowl of everything and there was a little bit of noodles and one of each type of meat. Nothing filled the bowl! The broth lacked flavor and I keep having to dunk everything in the hosin and chili sauce. I seriously could not taste what the broth was like because it tastes pretty much like hot water with some salt. I also got a green tea but I think they filled too much water because that tasted like nothing either even though I let it sit for 15 min. I came in not that hungry, but I left barely full. I was pretty hungry a couple hours later. Like growling stomach hungry. Won't be coming back no matter how much I crave pho. read more

Food - ok. Service - not good. They should just call this place "Noodle House" because noodles is all we got. We arrived on a Sunday at around 4. The waitress, a young woman, seemed hurried and lacked social communication skills. She asked if we were ready when we sat down and got drinks, we said no. One minute later she reappeared, saw we were still discussing among ourselves, and asked again if we were ready. So the ordering process felt rushed. On drinks, the waitress did not offer any straws; they do not carry bottled beverages; and also, they had no Sprite. Finally, when we got the food, we noticed that noodles made up most parts of the dishes. Obviously pho has noodles in it and that's expected. But we also got the noodle (vermicelli) bowl that was supposed to come with meat and veggies. The bowl was practically filled to the brim with noodles, had a few tiny thin slivers of carrot and cucumber, iceberg lettuce, and a thin layer of a few cuts of meat. 95% of the bowl was noodles. The fried tofu rolls were also 50% noodles, fried tofu and iceberg lettuce. Same combo pretty much as the beef bowl. So you can imagine we had a lot of - too much actually - noodles. The server, a man this time, brought over the check when one in our party was still eating his meal. Service was just not pleasant. This quality of food and service may work for the local college students, but it didn't work for me. I would not return. read more

Very bad experience here today. Went in at about noon (it was largely deserted -- not a god sign) and I was met by a very surly, unhelpful man. I looked at the menu and didn't see sandwiches and so I asked if they had them "You want chicken or ? (someone thing I couldn't make out through his thick accent). I asked him to repeat and I still couldn't make out what he said. He was clearly not interested in my business and I left. This man had a terrible attitude and I feel sorry for the owners if this is their "face" to customers. I will definitely not go back. read more

I usually have a solid experience here cuz the pho broth is very good. My brother loves this place for the pho. Today, however, my mom was not too impressed w the spam in her bun thit nuong and the bread machine apparently was not up to par cuz my mom found the bread very pale n doughy still. On top of that, they were skimpy on the meat so some bites were just bread n pickled carrot. The spring rolls didn't have any mints-- always a lack of mint leaf. Peanut sauce is great tho. Cha gio is very good. It's awesome Goleta has a dependable pho place... most of the time it's satisfying n all the time food comes out promptly n service is friendly. read more

I am the rating down because the service and quality are so inconsistent. I generally order the P1, which is the pho with mixed meat cuts and I really enjoy the garnishes. Sometimes the garnishes are old and/or soggy where you can tell it's been sitting out for a day or longer, depending on the staff this may be addressed and corrected or not. My daughter does not eat meat and often takes a shrimp and pork dish, substituting the pork for tofu but in that case she is served two small shrimp. Sometimes this accommodation comes with an extra charge and sometimes it does not. The overall quality seems to be declining a bit but I'm still glad this place is in the area. We didn't expect to find Vietnamese food in the Albertsons mall on our vacation. We were pleasantly surprised to find a very affordable satisfying $9 bowl of Pho noodle soup which was comforting on this cold evening. This is the first time helpers did me wrong!! Why does this place have such high ratings? Ordered a Large pho and it had 5 small pieces of meat. I'm used to having green onions in there but it was broth and noodles with small pieces of meat. Added mint, lime, and bean sprouts but they didn't provide jalapeños here either. Not impressed by the flavor of the broth. I'm wondering if other items are better on the menu as this was not good. The Thai tea was also bland. Usually Thai tea is sweet but there wasn't any sweetener in it at all. Also ordered the spring rolls. They only had vermicelli, some lettuce and shrimp and pork. I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried the pho here. I had low expectations because I'm from the bay and Santa Barbara asian food can't compete with the bay. I got the rare steak pho and the steak was tender and good. The soup was flavorful, but not too salty either. I think I got a small size and it was a good portion because other places would usually give a tiny bowl. I wish they had a medium size but small was good. The pho was great, hot and tastey , ordered the noodle with soft tofu- went in about 730pm and the plate with basil , jaleps, sprouts and lime was not fresh looking...looked a bit dry and the limes looked like they had been sitting. We also had the combo bahn mi which was alright, don't recommend getting a sando for dinner, the roll tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge and not fresh either.
