Decent. A very popular place for college students, since the pho restaurant near the university is terrible. Phamous Cafe is located in a shopping plaza near Hollister and San Felicia Drive, creatively named "The Plaza". They share a parking lot with Albertson's and other businesses. There are times when finding a spot can get hectic, but it's easy for the most part. The interior is colorful, with walls painted red, orange, purple, and green. This used to be a Quiznos location, and I guess they didn't change much when they moved in. Seating is ample, but I would call ahead if you're planning to come with a larger group. Their menu consists of noodle soups, sandwiches, rice dishes, vermicelli dishes, and other appetizers. Drinks include Vietnamese iced coffee and various teas. Over the years, I've done both take-out and dine-in here. I'm content with the pho from here most of the time, but I would say it's inconsistent. Sometimes the noodles have a great texture, other times it's a sticky mess and wrapped up like a ball at the bottom of the bowl. The meat is mostly tender, with a handful of instances when it was tough to eat. No complaints about the broth, it's always flavorful and soothing. This place can satisfy a craving without driving far to OC or San Jose. But the only consistent thing about it is that it's inconsistent. read more

Was waiting for new tires at Costco and decided to walk over here and try it out. Ordered the spring rolls and they were okay. They tasted different than ones I've had at other places and I realized there was no basil or mint, just lettuce, in terms of greens. The peanut sauce was good, though. Service was a little slow, but there was only one person serving and taking orders and it was lunchtime, so pretty busy. It was a little loud, but there were a lot of people at the time. Horrible customer service. Went here with my coworkers and the guy who took our order gave us attitude when I tried to order a báhn mi. A lot of the items on the menu he said we could not order. The food and service here are exceptional! The pho broth has so much flavor that it's like a homemade bowl. The shrimp spring rolls are perfectly wrapped and the peanut sauce is probably the best I have ever tasted. I love that it is a family owned business and that every staff member here is so friendly. One of the best places to get Pho from in this area. The taste is very authentic and it's the only place in the SB/Goleta which uses fresh slices of rare steak in the soup. The bean sprouts and basil are always fresh and the food tastes amazing. If you are looking to try Pho for the first time, I would recommend the P10 - Pho (Soup) and the S4 - Banh Mi (Grilled Chicken Sandwich). I enjoy the sandwich without Pate and Jalapeño. If you enjoy mild-spicy food, I would also recommend putting a spoonful of Sriracha in the soup and mix it around. read more

Our favorite comfort food and our go to spot for Pho. We love the Pho Tai and the Banh Mi sandwiched when they have them! I'm not sure if the Banh Mi is always available since sometimes it's not on the menu. Very cozy family owned restaurant close to Costco. I really wanted to like this place. Ended up here over other pho restaurants, being that the reviews were pretty good. We came here after a hectic day of moving our kid into UCSB. We walk up to the door. There were quite a few open tables but majority of them hadn't been cleaned yet. We had to wait for them to clear some of the dishes and wipe down a table for us. Not a huge deal. Then, once seated, we waited (not exaggerating) close to 20 minutes for menus to be brought bro us. That's after we stopped one of the waitresses in her tracks. From there, it took another 15 minutes or so for them to take our order... Still haven't been offered a drink or water yet. Finally. When we ordered, they said they were out of Thai tea. No big deal. I ordered spring rolls along with my pho. They came back and said we're out of rice paper and can no longer make any for the day. The food finally comes (still no water) yet. There's a difference between the regular and large bowls of pho, yet I got the same amount of noodles and hardly any meat compared to my wife's regular sized bowl. Here's the kicker, a guy comes in by himself and gets seated while we were eating. A few minutes go by and I see they bring him spring rolls?!!!!!!! I thought they weren't making any more for the day?!!!!! Long story short, wait time was terrible. Pho was mediocre. Service overall was just bad. Won't be returning when in town. read more

My favorite meat combination is simply fatty brisket, tendon, and tripe, which provides rich flavors and a great contrast in textures. Crunchy bean sprout, some chili, and a squeeze of lime bring out the flavorful bone broth too! And if you're running hot, cool down with a classic thai tea! The prices are reasonable, and in-line with similar establishments. Our only complaint would be the amount of steak & brisket (P3) should have been more plentiful. There were only two slices of each. Great Pho selections albeit you need to pay extra to get sufficient meat. I would come back regularly if they fix the confusing customer service. When I have eaten here there is maybe up to two other tables being served and still the following occurred in separate and sometimes in the same visit. I was given a menu that is falling apart, told to get the menu myself, given a chipped bowl per the pic, twice never asked if I wanted a drink and once giving me water with a strange reluctance. The weird part is when you are about to pay it is when the customer service improves. For take-out during COVID times. It's rough because I'm trying to be as objective as I can. I typically enjoy my pho from Garden Grove/Westminster in OC or in LA. The broth is not as light and rich as I was hoping. I ordered the P15 and the tendon slices were too chewy that it needed to be cooked more while the tripe in my pho also did not have a clean taste to it. The positives were that the fatty brisket is delicious and tender that it melts in your mouth. As we ordered for take-out, the cashier had indicated that our order would be ready in 15 minutes because the kitchen was backed up. However, he had observed we were kind of in a hurry, so he made accommodations for that and got our food out in that last than 15 minute window. I appreciate that service they did for us. read more
