Grand plans!!! We had grand plans!!!! You know what they said about the best laid plans of mice and men... they often go awry. This was our last night in Paris. We were going to hit the big time. We were going to head back to the hotel, change into some fancier duds, and go out with a bang! We were going somewhere fancy and probably spend too much money in the process. We got delayed at Disneyland Paris and our half day turned into a bit more than that. We got rained on. One of us got too excited shopping on Boulevard Haussman! (That wasn't me.) We forgot to pick up our take home chocolates @ Patrick Roger. (That was me.) We decided to take home a bunch of fresh gallettes from Poilane Bakery (That wasn't me.) And so on and so forth. If you're playing the home game... that's a lot of back and forth in Paris. We walked into PG's loaded with shopping bags and starving. I had fired up the old Yelp when we were at Poilane Bakery and the place that interested us most was PG's and one other nearby joint. We aimed ourselves in this direction and took off walking. Ultimately, we let our noses choose and our noses chose PG's Bar a Manger. Let me say that I love hamburgers, but hamburgers don't always love me. Sometimes they mess my stomach up in a bad way. I was going to be in the air for over 10 hours the following day, so I was hesitant to risk it. I wanted a burger so badly. BUT I also hate to be "that guy" who tries to warp the menu to his tastes, especially in France. I asked the server if I could get the Texas Ranger Burger with chicken instead. He offered to ask the chef. THE CHEF SAID YES! I was very pleased. My wife made her choice and got a Tartine. We both loved our meals. The food was incredibly fresh and the chef makes his own condiments, which were delicious. The food was wonderfully prepared and it was our biggest surprise of the entire trip in regards to meals. The chicken was tender and juicy. The toppings were SPOT ON. I can only imagine how awesome it would've been to have beef instead. I just couldn't risk it with the long flight. The chef actually came out (it's a tiny place, there were only the 2 of them working) and checked on us. He noticed my shame of pulling the caramelized onions off of my burger. He asked why I didn't ask for it without and I had to tell him the sad tale of how I love the TASTE that onions bring to food, but hate to EAT onions because of their mouth-feel. My wife gives me the stink eye for this sometimes, but she usually steals my onions in the end, so it works out. He just laughed. After our meal he came back out and chatted with us a bit. Telling us how he was from NY, but has lived in Paris for a few decades now. We laughed about old people in Florida (he had an aunt with a timeshare) and he asked us for the one thing we'd adopt into our lives back home. He was a real pleasure to chat with and make some delicious food! We left full and happy. Our blown plans wound up making for a deluxe final dinner in Paris. Highly recommend stopping in. They have a great craft beer selection and these great artisan lemonades. read more

...look I enjoyed the personalized service by the owner. I appreciated his suggestion of a good Bordeaux with his made cheese burger... the place takes on the personality of a good home base place to just relax while casually dining out. Bottomline- If you are hungry and are in the neighborhood, and want a pretty good place to kick your heels up... then this is the place for you. Not sure if this place changed hands or what, but the food looked nothing like the pictures here. Bottom line, it was one of the worst burgers I've ever had. Just a train wreck. The bun was older than my great grandmother, the meat was dry and tasteless, the cheese was undetectable, the vegetables were yesterday's news, the fries were baked and soggy (more like a bad version of home style potatoes) and the ketchup/mayo sauce was gross (hard to do). Oh so happy here! The owner/waiter is so sweet and accommodating. The burger choices are varied and interesting. They speak English and not with the classic "I am better than you why don't you speak French" style. He even expressed interest in me as a person. The most personalized service I've had in france. I had for lunch the Hunger Killer burger with fries and a mixed salad, as well as a smoothie with fruites rouge (berries of various sorts). The burger was massive, with bacon and a fried egg on top, which explains the French tendency to eat burgers with a knife and fork. The bun was particularly special by being perfectly soft inside and perfectly crip and crunchy outside. There were also a barbeque sauce and another white one that seemed to be cheese-based, both of which were really nice. The smoothie was excellent but rather overpriced at €5. Otherwise, the huge burger and the rest of the formule was absolutely worth it (at €15.50). I've been here twice, once for the texas burger and the 2nd time for the hunger killed burger. texas burger has bacon/bbq sauce (a bit spicy) and the hunger killer had a fried egg on top. I liked the hunger killer better than the texas one, but both were great! I really like their potato wedges as well, they taste like potato wedges with curly fry seasoning. service was wonderful, the people were so nice and friendly! read more

My family and I stumbled across this little gem on our first night in Paris. Apparently we were the first dinner guests in their new location! The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. It was the best introduction to Paris we could have asked for. They helped us translate the menu and treated us like special guests. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We all agreed that it was by far the best food we have eaten for a long time. If you are in the neighborhood you will not be disappointed. Also the prices are very reasonable for the quality and location. We hope they do well with their restaurant. Oh, and be sure to try the homemade chocolate mousse - it's amazing! read more

Very good house burger with a tangy homemade ketchup and caramelized onions. Normally I can't find a good American style burger where the meat tastes like it does in the US (probably because our meat is all corn feedlot-fed, but it's what I know and I digress). This place comes pretty close and cooked it wonderfully rare as requested. The blonde ale and fries with it were the perfect touch. One miss was the pineapple-mango cobbler--boiling hot, but without much flavor and zero texture. It was just a mushy mess. The assorted creams that accompanied it didn't add to it at all. Lastly, the young blond man serving everybody was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making suggestions and giving first rare service. I'd definitely go back! read more

Was not expecting to get good American burgers in Paris but PG's nailed it. They offer different types of burgers that many would find appealing. However, their menu is in French but the waiter and staff are super friendly and will help translate anythung you need. Overall, very good spot and burgers are A1. read more

We found this restaurant while walking back to our hotel. We had already eaten, but this place smelled good so we decided to come back. We asked for some variation from what was on the menu and were told that he could do it, but it wouldn't taste good. We followed his advice and it turned out great. We all had the burgers, two of us are vegetarians, and we all contributed to this review. The burgers were delicious, flavorful and hand crafted. This family-owned restaurant shows ownership, pride and excellence in its culinary artistry. The potato wedges were cute, and the best part were the buns. I definitely recommend recommend this place. You won't be sorry that you came. The owner, Christopher, came out to speak to us and gave us the best discussion we had in Paris. He was so knowledgeable about world affairs and was lamenting that people do not have good discussions for fear of offending others. So much fun. His son Paul was our waiter. This place was great I came here because of a recommendation from a fellow student at the ICP on the same street. So I went there earlier and got the Oh Calcutta burger which was a burger withe eggplant and curry sauce on it. It was great the curry gave it a good amount of spice, the egg plant gave the burger nice texture, and the beef patty was very high quality and it is cooked the way you like it. I would probably place this as the second best burger I've ever had. The sides were also really good since i got a formula meal for 16.50 euro. The potato wedges were nice a crispy and tasted like curly fries!!, then I had a nice little salad, a French summer ale, and closed off my meal with an espresso. I would definitely recommend this lace to anyone who visits arise especially since it is very close to a good area to shop! Also the staff (while I was there) is English speaking friendly!!!
