Both were delicious. You can tell that the chef is not only talented, but he takes pride in his work. The cheeses on the salad and burger have a wonderful flavor. I wish I had a bigger stomach to have that meal again. Great ambiance too by the way. We got there right at 7 so it wasn't too busy yet. But I would go and wait if needed. Tre Bien!!

Yeah, I also…read morequestioned why I would go to a burger place of all places when there are so many different food options. Well, after coming here, I am quite glad I did! I was pretty impressed at the burger and tartare options when looking into what I wanted. Hell, a place that has seven different tartares can't be sneezed at. Opted for The Italian for tartare, and The Napoleon 1er and The Roman for the burgers. The Aubrac beef they use it is something else. That tartare was some of the tastiest and juiciest I've had. And they do not skimp on it at all, they give you a huge stack of thick beef. Oh it was so worth it. And it carried over on the burgers as well. Aubrac beef went so well with the burgers. Well seasoned and perfectly cooked! Perhaps we were being a little too aggressive going for double patties rather than single patties, but hey I was on vacation. I had to stop eating the fries (which comes with every entrée) simply because I had no stomach left. Staff here are extremely friendly. They all speak perfect English, which obviously helped us out. As soon as we walked in here, they were welcoming as if we were locals that came here all the time. Made us feel very relaxed. Just great people that are happy to run their local neighborhood restaurant. AlthoughIl Était Un Square is pretty far from the usual tourist attractions, I regret nothing about taking the time to come here. The food is great, but the people here are even better. I would very much love to come back again.

Now I honestly didn't know if it was a typo or not, but you order via QR code here so I figured what the heck, we'll do it for the plot! Turns out, it was the right choice. The orange carrot soup was amazing. Honestly had the perfect flavor and didn't really taste like carrot although the color gave it away. It wasn't too heavy either. The Winnie (essentially a fancy Croque Monsieur with some modifications: roasted nut crunch, goat cheese, forest honey, chives, rosemary, and Mornay bechamel sauce) Prices were reasonable: $5.50E for the soup and $13.50E for the Winnie.

I don't remember exactly how Fric-Frac landed in my bookmarks, though in retrospect it was likely…read moredue to the fact that it seemed like a notable sandwich shop in Paris and a viable lunch option. That being said, that's exactly how I threaded this place into my itinerary - we had finished our visit to the Eiffel Tower and decided to head here for some lunch. I booked a table for right when they opened at noon. The space isn't too large, with several tables scattered throughout the space with the main production towards the back. The dining room was nicely decorated, and overall there was a casual vibe. There are no physical menus - instead, there are QR codes at each table which give way to the selections. The majority of the offerings are sandwiches, though they have a few apps, desserts, as well as a selection of beverages. I was here for a sandwich, and decided on the Le Bandito. This is a sandwich on five-grain bread that contained ham, zucchini, eggplant, grilled peppers, mozzarella, Saint-Moret cheese, arugula, basil, and balsamic cream. They gave the option to add a soft-boiled egg to the sandwich, which I took. The sandwich was tasty - it got a little sloppy towards the end due to all the components but overall the flavors worked and it was high-quality sandwich. The dish came with a side salad, and we also ordered some fries to share (both good). Service was good, they were very attentive and friendly. Overall, I think Fric-Frac is a solid sandwich spot in Paris. The sandwiches are creative, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back next time I'm in the city.

I opted for the souped up "Texas" burger called The return of the cowboy. This starts with a classic cheeseburger and adds onion rings , bacon and bbq sauce on top. Paris has these unique passageways that cut through the buildings. It would be easy to miss them…read moreentirely or think they were just a dead end to a few shops, but actually the passageway allows you to walk from one side of a city block to another by cutting through the buildings without dealing with vehicle traffic. There are shops and restaurants along both sides. It is pedestrian traffic only and there is a roof. They actually remind me a bit of the Grand Bazaar souk in Istanbul, Turkey. Anyways, along one of these passageways, you will stumble upon the Bar de Varieties. My nephew who lives in Paris invited my niece and I for dinner here, so we let Google maps lead the way. The food is reasonably priced and there are plenty of delicious, French options on the menu like escargots and boeuf bourguignon. The three of us chose "la formule" which allowed us to each choose an appetizer, main dish and dessert. When traveling, getting fruits and vegetables in the diet can be somewhat hard, so I opted for the Caprese salad. The tuna steak cooked medium rare was the special of the day. A small tiramisu in a cup completed my meal. It was light and right for the brutal hot days we had been enduring, and didn't weigh me down as we pounded the pavement for several more miles of sightseeing. Staff was very accommodating. We arrived before they opened, but they allowed us to take a seat while they prepared for dinner. Carafes of water were always full and drinks were replenished quickly. Best part was the price. I paid cash for the three of us and it was around €60. Not bad for a complete meal and drinks.
