I highly recommend the dog training classes at the Yonker's Petsmart. My beagle just graduated from the beginner class. Chris Brown, the instructor, taught us both SO MUCH in these six classes. He's very patient (and funny) which made a huge difference. He let us learn at our own pace and would gently remind us of things we've covered over the weeks. I saw a big difference in my stress level (decreasing) while trying to do the homework and practicing our new skills. The classes covered commands, safety information and tips that only a life long dog owner could give you. we would also get one-on-one time as well as demonstrations and practice 'walks' around the store to see how our dogs did outside of the classroom. Chris really gave me back the confidence I needed to help my dog really know the commands, not just "know of" them...as he says. The class really covered so much territory in six one hour sessions. The price is very reasonable and I'm going to continue with the next two classes. Even if you've had your dog a while I highly recommend the classes. You will learn so much about caring for a dog...not just commands. read more

I've been taking my 2 dogs to petsmart for years in Florida. I came to Yonkers and it's totally different. The rudest people I've ever had to deal with. If we didn't have this heat wave coming, I would have gone somewhere else. After the service and nasty attitude I got yesterday, I will never go to petsmart again. Amari the groomer very unprofessional At the White plains terrytown store. She clearly should not be working with animals if she doesn't have the patience to. Always let them know that my dog is a handful and if any issues to call me and I will pick him up. As soon as I get there she has an attitude because I'm asking to see the dog before I pay for services she said she couldn't finish due to his behavior, mind you he's been there & other groomers in the past & there were no issues. I always try my best to be respectful but since she wanted to act out in front of her coworkers now we have to take it a step further. I really love coming to this PetSmart. This is the only groomers that we use for our shih tzu. I actually drive a bit over 30mins passing another PetSmart just to come here. Grooming Salon: Our favorite groomer is Laura. She is really great with the puppies and does a wonderful job. Banfield: This is the clinic in the back. Oh gosh all I can say is wonderful things about the veterinarians and nurses. They really take care of the animals and help every family make the right medical decisions. I never knew preventive insurance exist for dogs until our veterinarian introduced it to us. To this day we are still thankful she did, Milo is now 4yrs old and we've saved over $3000 in medical bill because of his insurance. It covers a lot and really is worth the $28/month. If you have a pet I suggest that you talk to your local Banfield hospital. Overall service: The rest of the store is very clean and well taken care of. If ever there were a hidden gem, Chris B, a world class dog trainer, Is one, and he is available in Petsmart in Yonkers, NY. We hired Chris B. for multiple private sessions. I started out with a wild child large breed dog who didn't know how to walk on a leash and I ended up with a well trained dog who passed Therapy Dog class and behaves beautifully when we have gone to nursing homes, hospitals, farmers' market, home depot, you name it! My dog is now a well mannered and loving dog. Chris understands how dogs communicate and gives you the golden key to getting your dog to want to communicate with you, bond with you, listen to you, and love you. Your dog will not fear you (and should never fear you) because you will learn from Chris that you don't need any harsh or dominating training methods to achieve this level. It is simply a matter of understanding how to communicate to your dog, and understand how they communicate to you and what they need in order to do what you want. Chris understands this, and is a great communicator to people as well as dogs so the training comes easy, as he is training the people as much as he is training the dog. Chris also wrote a great book about dog training as well, and is one of the only trainers in the area able to teach the Therapy Dog classes because they are very advanced. Those living close enough to Yonkers, NY are very lucky to have the opportunity to receive training with someone of Chris' caliber. And...because it is petsmart they offer this at a substantially lower price than other area trainers, and most of the other trainers aren't even of Chris' level of expertise and caliber. I'm so sad and disappointed with PetSmart Grooming. I've been taking my Yorkie here since he was a puppy and now he's 11yrs. So I called a couple days ago to set up an appt and one of the girls who answered said they couldn't take my dog any longer due to a new policy. My dog has had a dropped trachea for years now and has had surgery. He's fine and never had a problem while being groomed. I've always paid more for the "express" service so not to have him feel any kind of anxiety. I always bathe him the day before and all he gets is his hair cut and nails cut as well, no problem ever. Now all of a sudden I find myself lost without a groomer, not fair. My dog loved going to PetSmart. I'd love to speak to corporate if possible. You are losing a good $70-$80 plus tip. As we all know Pet Smart Groomers have a track record of abusing dogs. In general, I don't trust dog groomers. I gave these dog groomers a chance at Pet Smart on Central Ave in Yonkers, and they are extremely rude and nasty to customers, and I read some of these reviews with 1 star, and these customers are spot on. The manager wanted to charge me an extra $10 if I didn't want my dog in a cage. That's right pay up for no cage! My dog got kennel cough during a dog grooming because she was left in a dirty cage for hours and it cost me a fortune at the vet to treat her illness. Besides, my dog is a little white Bishon Frise and she is a nervous little girl, she has separation anxiety, and the groomers their are too rude. This dog grooming salon doesn't do a good job, they're rude and money hungry and they overcharge the customers for grooming. The management blames it on corporate. LOL... The store management is low rated minimum wage employees who have a title manager but, they don't know how to communicate or handle complaints from customers. Thanks but no thanks. I will not return to this place, they sell you a whole lot of BS and treat loyal customers like garbage. I've seen it and experience it for myself. Customers should be highly respected not treated rudely. This Pet Smart is low rated! They can't hold onto employees. It's completely dysfunctional. I'm dealing with a sick dog in the middle of this pandemic and I had to get a special dog food. Had the pleasure of working with Dori the manager who could not have been nicer. Went completely out of her way to walk me exactly where I needed to get the dog food. When the dog food was out of stock, she took out her cellphone and called a nearby Petsmart (about 10 min) away, spoke to the manager to 100% confirm they had the speciality dog food I needed (which they did). She then made sure I had the exact address of the new store, and the manager's first name (Jon). Dori went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Scarlet and the grooming salon manager are the reasons why after 11 years of loyalty to PetSmart I will NOT get my fur baby groomed here again. The manager had to talk to me about my fussy dog and interrupted me when I tried to defend my pup. My dog isn't the easiest but I let everyone know that before they handle him. In the years I've been there my dog has never had a bad report. The groomers always say that my dog has been a good boy. Today he got a bad report card. They have the worst costumer service in the history of customer service I used them years ago and they gave me a hard time with my paper work that proved my dogs vaccinations were up to date And after they were proven wrong , they still denied service. Won't be returning for grooming. I'm a new puppy owner and scheduled an appointment to have my pup groomed. I spoke with the groomer, showed her pictures, and made a few requests for the haircut (trim mouth and eyes). I come back to find my dog completely shaved - I never asked for this and was not asked if this is something I wanted, nor told that was the plan. In fact, I made it pretty clear that I was just hoping to have him cleaned up and get a trim. She also neglected to do any actual shaping of his face, which was my main concern. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed and generally upset. My puppy looks so different and if I had known this was how they go about grooming, I would've gone elsewhere. read more

Don't ever get live animals from here. Any time inhale they have died within a week. My house mate brought home a betta fish as well as my man, both had a fungus a day after they were brought home and ultimately died a day or lass after that. I tried again with plecos. I got 2 bristlenose plecos and when I got them the employee who was helping me could only say "this isn't my area" while chasing 2 poor baby fish for 20 to 30 min. They both died before a week. Your employees are trash, your animals aren't healthy and your business should be shut down before you kill anymore animals. Let's not even talk about your grooming section and how often something happens there. You suck. read more

This PetSmart on Central has slowly but surely become my go-to place for all my pressing cat needs, and less pressing goldfish needs. FAR superior to PetCo a bit further south. Remember the old PetCo jingle "PetCo, where the pets go"? My dad once quipped "So what do you say for PetSmart? How about PetSmart, where the pets fart?" Gotta love my dad.... The place is gigantic, and they have E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. It's truly one-stop-shopping for pets. You can adopt, train, feed, cloth, groom, and medically treat your pets all under this one roof. It is always clean here. The Banfield Vet in the back of the store is now the official vet for my cats. The vet staff are great. Miles, my super mellow and friendly tabby, becomes a piss spraying, shitting, yowling, wretchedly evil nightmare when he has to be transported (it's hellacious - I'm not kidding). The staff here calmly and tenderly clean him up with a sponge bath before the vet sees him. The Yonkers Animal Shelter brings cats and dogs here for adoption. For a standard $85 adoption fee, you can bring home a happy pet that has already been spayed/neutered and has its shots. (Please adopt and skip the breeder!!!) Of note to fish people - while they have salt water supplies, they do not seem to carry salt water fish. (Ooops, I guess they don't have everything!!) Pet Goods a bit further north on Central Ave has a good salt water fish selection, FYI. They always have sales and good deals with your PetSmart card. They also regularly mail me additional coupons. PetSmart & and the loss of 2 Dewclaw's. I brought both of my dogs to PetSmart 2458 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10710 on 11-4-2018, for nail grooming, BIG mistake! DEWCLAW Both dogs had the same nail tech, and both dogs lost their left paw dewclaw, I brought both of my dogs to the veterinarian, I also contacted PetSmart customer care via phone right away, and informed them what happened to my dogs, customer care took the report, and informed me that a store manager will Be getting back in touch with me, well this never happened, so I contacted customer care again on 12-6-2018, customer care called the PetSmart store #1558, right away to follow up with the issue, the store manager informed customer care that he did contact me, I immediately informed customer care no he did not! I informed the store manager of my issue, and told him what my dogs have gone through at his store, I mean nail grooming at $14.00 x 2 = $28.00. Turned into a $391.00 Veterinarian bill for both dogs with medication's. Store manager asked me for my dog's medical bills, which I sent to his email as requested, only for him to ignore the whole thing, I attempted to contact the store manager yet again, and was told by his associates the store manager was with customers, another time was not in the store, mind you this was after I gave my name, I left my phone number and a message. Here it is 1-2-2019 almost 2 months after the original incident on 11-4-2018, and no response at all! So I called customer care today 1-2-19 to get update on the case, and told them the store manager has not gotten back to me at all, so customer care did a 3 way call and patched me through to the store, the store manager was now on the line, and in a very cocky/ arrogant manner, the store manager informed me that he reviewed the tapes, and that he was confident that PetSmart was not responsible for the injury's to either of my pets, I reminded him how both dogs suffered, and how I strongly disagree with his findings, and reminded him both dogs had the same nail tech on the same day! He said he was well aware of that, and was confident that it was not PetSmart's responsibility, I asked so you're saying PetSmart bears no responsibility in any way? I informed him I will escalate this issue with the proper authorities', he made it clear to me yet again that, PetSmart is not concerned and nor was he! read more

This store pets dream about, they have a pet groomer in the back and an animal hospital. Let talk about that groomers. The staff is wonderful and their are always on time to groom our dogs. I love how my dogs come out each time, as of today no issues. They have been going their for about 4 yrs now. Now the animal hospital the staff is just great so helpful and warm to our pets and us. I love that they gave a drop off meaning I can drop off my pets for s routing checkup and u can pick them up after work. They always call you the day after to check up on your pet. They always try to be helpful for example, when my dogs have an appointment with them and the grommers. Once they are done they will walk over and get them and vise versa. The store itself is very clean, always fully stock of pet products and food. They also have a training area and a cat rescue section. I just wish it also had a doggy day care and bording. read more

Terribly upset over the lack of compassion and respect my family experienced with Scarlett today. Initially we were excited to meet our new groomer. We are shocked and quite frankly disappointed... We have been customers for nearly 6 years. Today's experience with Scarlett was truly one I will not ever forgive or forget! She completely butchered my 9lb morkie. His haircut was horribly done. My husband attempted numerous times to speak w her on the desired style but instead she focused and asked why we booked the appt with her when our dog already had a groomer. Well obviously our last groomer whom worked at the exact facility no longer worked there. My husband with a civil service background whom may I add rarely ever complains was pissed with her demeanor and clearly told her the energy she was projecting toward him and the dog was felt and she should take a different approach with new clients rather than focusing on his last groomer and why we decided to switch and book with her. Additionally, we requested she leave the tail as is... the tail has never been cut only trimmed. Scarlet at Yonkers PetSmart is a bitch. She has a nasty attitude most of the time. I am done with her. When you are explaining something she is quick to talk over you. When you want your dog to be cut into a certain style, it's a problem. She is not willing to agree or accommodate paying customers. Awful. FOR YOUR DOG'S SAFETY AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. After bringing my yorkie in for rarely satisfactory haircuts to this location for years, I've finally had enough. A few weeks ago I took her in and while waiting for them to take her in I see one of the groomers almost choking a clearly terrified dog . Luckily that wasn't the person grooming my pup but I should've turned around right then and there. My pup is a senior and has a few skin tags on her body which I asked them to be careful about - every single one of them was bloody when I picked her up, but that's not the worst part. Not only did she get an awful haircut, the groomer, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, but I think she was new, injured her eye with the scissors. After a $300 vet bill, my poor girl now needs antibiotics and eye medicine for the rest of her life because of this injury. Seriously - stay away from this place! read more

Their prices are ridiculous! On two separate occasions, my boyfriend and I purchased products in which their prices did not match their website. First, I bought a portable play pen for $119. Later I see their website listing it as $99. Obviously I returned it. My mistake, I'll make sure to look next time. So now we come to yesterday... my puppy just got spayed and we wanted to buy a recovery donut for her as the cone was inhibiting her from eating and drinking. I made sure to tell my boyfriend to tell them their website lists the recovery donut for $14. And good thing we did because the store listed it as $35. For real? They had the audacity to argue when he asked for a price match before they actually agreed (which is what is saving this review from a one star).
